  1. I was actually considering posting this topic. Based on what they have said in AMA's there will be realistic physics: However the ship designs they have show us in videos primarily have thrusters directed aft of the ship. Realistic physics combined with this setup would require KSP-like maneuvers in that you'd have to flip your ship every time you wanted to slow down. In the gameplay video it seems the small ship slows down immediately after the pilot stops accelerating. This could be the smaller "adjustors" at work, but it doesn't seem like they should have enough thrust to slow a ship down that quickly.
  2. There is definitely a huge gap in the lore there, but that just means we get to fill it in with our own fan fiction. I wouldn't be opposed to NQ giving us some pointers though, if everybody has vastly different histories of Earth that isn't very fun to keep track of...
  3. Good luck to your org. Don't mean to be rude, but did you mean 'Corporation'?
  4. I'd love to have this as well. But of course any time they spend on this, adds more time before Alpha and release. We just have to be patient.
  5. Hehe was going to plug ODY but Neo beats me to it. Short description: Objective Driveyards is a leading security and industrial corporation-state providing innovative spacecraft, solutions in autonomous systems, command, surveillance, strike, and logistics to government and private customers on Alioth and beyond. We are looking for people with a passion for ship building, programming, and creating generally quality products to sell on the in-game markets. You can find out more on out website http://www.objectivedriveyards.com
  6. All ODY designs are purely conceptual. They are only meant to give a rough idea of the aesthetic design of Objective Driveyards. That being said, the voxel engine of DU is incredibly flexible, and educated guesses can be made about the relative sizes and functions of the different elements based on videos, screenshots, and concept art. Thanks for your input, and I wish luck to SLI on the ship market.
  7. As cool as the concept art is, it is far away on their roadmap. I think what will make the universe feel 'alive' more than anything will be the other players.
  8. I see where you're coming from, but as Schoff said, I think people will be able to distance themselves. The reason for the 20km Arkship safe zone is to allow for some stability in the very early game and will likely have the first settlements. I don't think it's likely that if a major organization conquered everyone, that they would be able to maintain power for very long. Players can always form rebellions and regroup on faraway star systems.
  9. I've dabbled quite a bit with blueprints. Only way to hold me over before alpha The latest ship class i've been concepting: The rest are here: http://www.objectivedriveyards.com/ships/
  10. 0. Alpha (please come soon) 1.CvC 2.Docking (Functional landing gear/docking ports) 3.Territory in Space / Stargates 4. Advanced Comms and Maps 5. In-game Voice chat 6. Cosmetics 7. Construct oxygen generators
  11. Just a thought, perhaps you could limit the use of images to screenshots taken in-game in order to mitigate this problem. The player could not upload anything so if there was porn, it would have to be made with voxels.
  12. How about a user review system? After purchasing a ship or any other product, have a function to allow people to write a short review and give it a rating of 1-10. Ultimately it would be up to the seller/market owner if they want to unlock the review system. As a result, a seller who doesn't use it would be less trusted. This way scams are more easily avoided. You could have a rating for both the seller and the product like Amazon.... Essentially I'm suggesting Space Amazon.
  13. My opinion on this is that cities should simply evolve organically. I am a big proponent of adding game mechanics that make cities useful, but not mechanics that limit their uniqueness. In general I think that it will give cities more character, if each of their street layouts and organization are unique. If there are to be districts, those should be defined by the players themselves, so if there is a plot system it shouldn't be dividing a TU into equal sections but be defined by the owner of the TU.
  14. Pretty sure sold constucts will be destructible just like any other construct.
  15. No, at least not at initial release, they have opted to leave it later on the road map for after they develop more important features.
  16. Yesss! Finally the first evidence that multicrew is already working, two people walking on the same moving platform!
  17. I have a few ideas regarding interactive maps/star maps. Star Map Star Map is stored electronically in your Nanopack All players start will no data in their SM Data is added to the SM through scanning Data can be selectively uploaded to a map data file These data files can be sold or shared with other players Features Manually created POI’s can be created to mark discovered constructs, or any other location of interest POI’s include an optional description When uploading, you can select which discoveries you want to include or do a complete upload The SM will keep track of the first player known to have discovered the locations on a given players map Discoverer can opt to have their name undisclosed Data from multiple players can be merged onto one data chip Data points on your map that were purchased from other players cannot be resold unless allowed through RDMS Using the RDMS you can prohibit rival organizations from purchasing your data Automatically collects data on locations of planets, resources, and organization territories Potential Effects This could add gameplay for intelligence agents, who try to pinpoint the last known location of a target with the POI system Players buying a unknown map, will have to investigate POI’s at their own risk, because they could be falling into a trap Eventually most planetary data around Alioth will become common knowledge, as competing explorers are continually adding new data to the markets and the value of the older data decreases Some data files will sell better than others because of the usefulness of their POI's Some players explore unknown areas to make money on the open markets, others will do so on contract, and some will do it just to benefit their organization.
  18. I am happy to hear this because it will give Alpha/Beta gameplay some meaning beyond just testing. Another reason for people to back Gold and above!
  19. Updates: Our Discord server is now public! If you'd like to talk to the members of the corporation for any reason, you are welcome to stop by: https://discord.gg/5kC5Hsf It's been a few weeks since the last ship design concept, so there should be another one coming soon.
