  1. id definitely like to see some kind of customization. at the most basic id like organizations to have the ability to have "unique" suits and colors
  2. from what i remember from reading the dev blogs is that partly there is an idea of taking something that someone made and improving on it. to that end i dont think being able to recreate and add onto a ship is a bad thing. but i do think that the script that comes with a ship should be locked from anyone but the original creator. BUT! i also believe that when you sell a ship you sell its blueprint not specifically the ship. or maybe you can sell the blueprint and the ship and the blueprint helps you build it, and if the script is prebuilt into the blueprint and the person building your ship from blueprint cant see the script then they would still be able to figure out how the ship is put together on the hardware side, just not the coding side. so i understand the desire to protect your property but at the same time there is a beauty in people reverse engineering and improving upon. but perhaps this should be limited to people that are in the same organization. When this game first comes out i may dabble in the scripts but depending on the complexity i may have to wait till iv finished some more schooling in real life on coding and such before i can really get into it. so on that note ill happy hire myself out as a merc lol
  3. have to say from what iv read this sounds like a sound logic for the game. the smaller ships and such use gates and big ships house a jump engine. for full on fleets to go to battle though the ship would need to be big enough to have a hanger to house fighters otherwise they couldnt jump with the big ships.
  4. I can only think of one game where marriage was implemented into the actual gameplay aspect of the game outside of a roleplaying stand point of the players. in elder scrolls online you can marry someone through a quest. the benefits of this if i remember correctly is a shared bank and a 10% xp boost when doing quests and such together. In personal experience i only know of people who did it for the xp boost and people who were already married/in a relationship in real life.
  5. the only way i can see a b2p model being viable is if there is a steady stream of paid expansions to the game, which i just dont see being possible with this game. i also dont see how a cash store can be used in such a game as what this plans to be.
  6. wow very ambitious. but i wish you the very best of luck. i hope to see this come about. maybe ill come help but i dont know if id stay.
  7. unfortunately i dont have a solution for those who dont play enough that they feel they are getting screwed by the monthly. i feel it would be unfair to say if the monthly is 10 and to make them pay 7 to pay for like 15 days. maybe a weekend pass? but again i dont know how this will be implemented. My best suggestion is a hope that the devs really sit and consider what the best monthly price is for the game as i dont feel any game weathers a price hike very well even if the old players are grandfathered the old price. edit: i think the best idea may be if there is weekend pass tokens that a player can gift to a friend that would be fairly cheap compared to the full month token
  8. i understand lol. i simply meant it as a thought for the devs. i was trying to type fast before i left my office haha. i just meant if someone is planning to play DU alot i would like to see NQ implement the same payment plan that psn xbox live and other games make it so that the more time you pay for upfront the more you save. Which gives some people the option to pay more upfront if they have the money but save in the long run
  9. Reading this I noticed the psn thing and it made me think of how if you pay for more than one month you save. I pay for 3 montsh at a time
  10. Im pretty sure the devs have already decided to make this game open pvp. though this wasnt meant to be malice but for a more realistic game. but its in the interest of organizations to protect its miners and scientist and other non combat personal with people who do enjoy combat. id like to see this game not be filled with 24hr war and i dont think this will be the case because to fund that war would take massive resources and everytime you die you lose stuff from your inventory, so the soldiers wouldnt want to continue. the main worry would be pirates but i dont forsee there being large groups of a single pirate group so a military arm of a organization could take care of them or hire bodyguard firms or mercs
  11. https://devblog.dualthegame.com/2014/07/06/quantum-immortality/ this is the devblog on the death. basically they are using quantum mechanics to explain why it is you can re-spawn. and because they are basically transporting your soul to another parallel universe or stealing yourself from a very similar universe you will lose some of your inventory and you will wake up basically naked at the closest registered resurrection node. in one universe you may have picked up a rock on the side of the road an in the other you didnt. so your new self doesnt that that rock basically
  12. im on the fence with if there should be other "ark fields". i think from what iv read in the devblogs if i took it right is they are still deciding on this or not. and i think you have to find a very rare piece of material to actually make it not to mention the enormous amount of power. but as i dont believe you should have a standing fleet 24/7 365 to protect your main city i would like to see more automated defenses being built. maybe this is something for the researchers to hash out in game though. but i would also like to see some kind of mercenary hiring system as well
  13. the devs are setting up a bubble that is 20km in radius. so that allows for a fairly big area of a safe zone. it would be possible for the most part to make money or use the generic blue prints you start with to make a ship without leaving the safe zone. i still for see any start zone becoming a neutral trade city. and i hope that organizations will go and recruit new players and bring them into the fold. while this may not be good for some organizations i think this would be very beneficial for most though as it bolsters your number and gives new players a place to learn and grow
  14. im just having wicked thoughts of dastardly deeds of sabotage lol
  15. speaking from the only app i know that is tied to a mmo. i think this could be great on multiple levels. when i played runescape alot i use to have the runescape companion app. which while it didnt have quite the functions your mentioning only by virture of it didnt need to warn you of any incoming danger. the app was still able to be used to messaged friends and clan members who were playing the game while also being able to look at the games stock market and to sell and buy items from the market system.
  16. welcome to the community. i look forward to seeing another group form
  17. my name was TylerDurden at the end. i went through a few name changes lol was a master fisherman in runescape though. and i plan the same thing for this game lol. ill be with it for years
  18. other than the devblog there isn't a lot of information yet. but id say just keep lurking and reading about. I think a few sites have interviews with NQ, but I don't have any links
  19. from what iv read or understand is that players can buy the item that gives the ingame time with real world money and sell it to other players. if that is the case then nothing stops you from just gifting it to a friend id believe. also if you are a successful trader or corp head you could always buy them with ingame currency and gift. it be an interesting dynamic in corps and other organizations to give out the game time tokens as a reward or bonus to members
  20. I think at this point its to early to say exactly how they are going to do it. but I think a lot of it will depend on how well they tackle the seemless single shard servers. I can see them maybe later adding more ark ships. I think we will find out more once the kickstarter gets up and going and they have an idea of how many people are going to be playing right off the bat
  21. I will read this later. and as I found out about this game because of the e3 trailer, you are right
  22. looks like it may be a good corp. but I agree with astro, if you are a trade company or ship yard you may want to find people to go out and procure contracts with other factions who may not have ship builders
  23. I don't have a lot of input on this topic. just that if implemented right this could be an amazing game addition. Cant help but thinking of the Normandy from the mass effect series with you guys talking about hiding heat and electromagnetic signatures
  24. I think this would be interesting. it be fun imo to go back after playing for a year or so and just see my exploits so far. would also be nice if you could share your log with your organization. feel like that would be beneficial to trading and mining operations
  25. while I don't have kids myself I do have siblings that do and I know what you mean lol. then sometimes they join you in playing the games you play
