Atleast with a balloon powered vehicle, you'd only need more balloons to carry more weight to cross said ocean.

The hovercraft is nice, but its going to probably require significant amounts of fuel where as a balloon can run on pretty much nothing, so I'm hoping that the concept above and the balloon idea are a real thing to allow for more fuel efficient travel.

Hell, you could even build a moving base on the damn balloon structure and not have to worry too much about the affects on the fuel consumption.

From what we can see Dual is not a block building game but more of a voxle sculpting game. There are still blocks and stuff you can place but it seems more that these are just the tools you use to get the shapes you want into the game instead of the only things you can build/place.

Not if the rail is the thing providing the majority or all of the power. I would like us to be able to use the rails to make elevators as well (no not hover because that has limits granted so do rails but they are different limits) and if we can use them to make elevators than we will be able to build space elevators (yaaaa I really want a space elevator even if I have to build it myself)

well there would still be sounds like impact engines and other ambient sounds as well as when your in an atmosphere the sounds would be normal. you just won't be able to hear a gunshot without the vibrations somehow being able to travel to so so if its on another ship a little distance away you won't here it but if its on yours you will

Founded as SilverLight Research by the United Nations in 2055 as a way to pool the research capabilities of many smaller companies into something that could assist with developing advanced Arkship technology, they were one of the few companies and organizations that could possibly compete with the globally powerful Nexus Corporation on a technological basis. Eventually, SilverLight expanded to include many other industries such as extraterrestrial mining and Arkship construction, assisting the U.N.’s Ark program through multiple facets of the project. However, the core project and top priority of SilverLight remained the artificial intelligence systems that would run the Arkships and assist humanity when they arrived on their new homeworld, Alioth. Soon after the last of the Arkships was completed, the U.N. shocked millions when it announced that Arkship resources were scarce, and that it would utilize an “artificial genetic selection algorithm” to decide who would live and who would perish in the oncoming apocalypse. Naturally, an uproar rose up, and riots and violent protests ravaged the streets of Earth in its last days. Recognizing that this was planned long before the Arkships’ completion, the Nexus Corporation, in cooperation with SilverLight and various other organizations, launched its own retaliation: “Project Cinderfall”. With SilverLight’s artificially intelligent algorithm development combined with Nexus Corp’s networking capabilities, Project Cinderfall circumvented the U.N.’s originally biased selection algorithm, allowing a much larger and more diverse population, including many members of SilverLight, to make it aboard the Arkships and into the rebirth of humanity in the age of Alioth.

It would probably have been better to think of a different title and I know there are a few of us who share the concerns (still going to play this game no matter the model they go for) But I suggested a possible hybrid model though it did get buried and people will always sit on one side of the other for some reason or another so you should probably send an Email to the devs asking about it instead of waiting for this thread to turn into another heated debate about the payment model

so I was thinking about this in one of the organization discords today. What is everyone thoughts on colors in the game. Are we going to just have a color wheel where we can change the color of different elements to make buildings, ships, and other constructs the color we want. or are we going to have to actually go out and find dyes and such to make actual paint.

    thoughts?

idk if this has been mentioned....  I'v not seen it. I'v also don't believe any videos have shown anything on this. probably seems like a silly thought. but figured it could be discussed

just wondering whats everyone thought is far as what they think it will be and how they would like it to be

I suppose I should actually state what I think. Ships will for the most part be used in space and land based miners on the planet for the most part. There will be some ships designed to mine out huge amounts of a planet but these will most likely only come in if the planet is designated to be profitable if its done. I would really like to see planet crackers and just huge chunks of a planet get ripped out and pulled to space and mined up there with all the rock being discarded and the ore being processed possibly with a small work camp on the surface to help rip the chunks out of the planet and up to space

I wouldn't mind a large mining nanoformer however I would also like very large machinery that can just take material and refine ore and other such things out of it quickly in extreme quantities so that your not just sitting around waiting for something to finish refining or extracting or need like 500 of them to do something quickly but they all work in small amounts

it sounds perfect just have one guy jumping up and down with a jetpack building it all the way to space while other people work on building the ships and such to supply him with the parts to keep going

First of all, thanks for inviting me.  As for the questions about whether or not we shall be making ships of any size, I can assure you that if it is a conceivable ship class we will be making it.  Small ships, of course, will be a large market for us but I have plans already for much larger ships and buildings.  Naturally we shall have to wait and see what we get to work with, but that will merely be the final layer of the design.

I have always loved to draw.  I remember I used to sit for hours in the classroom after school, or under a tree, and draw.  I never drew pictures of people, or of landscapes.  I drew my ideas, the vehicles my young mind imagined sprung fully formed from my head and landed on the pages of my tattered notebook.  It’s funny, I can remember every page of that notebook, the way it felt in my hands, but I can’t remember my mother’s face, or the name of the town I grew up in.  I do remember the day I got the message that I had been selected for the Arkship Program.  I didn’t tell anyone for a week.  When I told…….  when I told her about it she cried; how could she not.  I would have stayed with her, I would have help her as the world tore itself apart and fell into the neutron star.  We would have grown old together then, who knows, we may have even died young, but she begged me to go.  I think I was working on something at the time, I can’t remember.  She said it was important that I go.  I remember finding her the next morning, cold and still in our bed.  I have nothing left to live for.  I have nothing left to die for.
I can still see the ideas running across my mind.  They keep me busy, building this new world.  I am thankful for my shattered memories.  They keep me working to rebuild the life mankind had before.  They help me live on without buckling under the weight of all the pain of the past.  Together in this new world we will make new memories and the old world with all its pain and loss will be forgotten.
I had a funny dream last night of the last time I was happy, 10,000 years ago.  I can’t remember it, it’s just a feeling at the edge of my mind.  I caught myself turning around to see her smile, but she wasn’t there.  I can’t shake the feeling that I’ll meet her around the corner, or in the elevator.  I am haunted by the most beautiful smile.

In the footage that has been released so far we have a pretty good picture of how mining will go on a small scale, however, we have yet to see what is in store for the large scale mining tools.  There are several ways this could go, from drills ala Space engineers, to scaled up versions of whatever we have on our arms, to mining lasers that can harvest a roid from kilometers away.  This also means that the method of harvesting will have a direct impact on how we design mining ships and also how we use them.  Drills, for example, will limit the size of any practical mining vessel.  Of course there will always be some mad genius building a huge and impressive, but heinously expensive rig that makes holes clean through the planet, but those will be rare.  If we have a large version of whatever the thing on our arms is then we can expect larger vessels that have multiple mining stations, and are crewed by a group of players.  I like this version the best, because I could see some truly astonishing mining barges being built for planetary mining.  The other option, mining lasers, would be less effective because of the voxel system, but still a good option.  They would probably end up being more like the weapons, that lock onto an asteroid and mine it away like that.  They would also be a bit more cumbersome on planets and require less player involvement overall.  I, for one, am casting my vote (do I get a vote?) for the nanoformer based mining rig that is a turret-like device that mounts on the ships hull and is controlled by a player to carve away layers of material.  It would have to be piped up to a very large storage system.  I don't think it should be a thing that can be coded to be run by a script.  Of course there could be a fixed type that mounts on the front of a ship and just sucks in whatever is in front of it for your little mining drones, but the player controlled turret things should be more effective.

I was talking more of a very large tube that holds all the trains and tracks and each of those can have a train so you could look out the window and see like 3 or more other trains moving up and down as well but again it depends on how things work in game

i think a generalised rail system would be a better way to implement this instead of specialised elevator objects.

rails, rail riders/motors, junctions, "ramps" to mount/unmount rail riders from rails and some way to supply them with power
and you can build anything you could ever need in terms of fixed-track movable objects.

Its a bit late but I should point out that they were giving an example for the size of a planet and the size of territory units.

They want it to take a bit of time for people to start leaving the planet and the timeframe that they gave was about a month or so. This could mean having the ability to travel to another planet in the same system or even just get into space (build a megatower up to the sky because why not ) I doubt stargates will apear a month or two after release but then again I could be wrong. Im thinking it will take that long to just start getting to the tech that allows us to consider building stargates let alone the resources and ability to build them. we would then also have to wait for a probe to get to the other location and have the materials to build a second gate.
