That would be true if NQ actually keeps these records as they should which frankly I fear they don't as they never considered that requirement due to a lack of understanding what it takes to build a game like DU and they make stuff up along the way without having a solid and well thought through ground level framework.

I don't know why this is still up for discussion.

They can do it and have done it in the past. When schematics were first released they were priced too high. NQ then lowered the price and then refunded every player the difference between the new price and the old price.

They have done it, they can do it in the future, they just don't see how this is a big issue.

No, it woudln't. "An issue" can be like.... anything? Including but not limited to RDMS.

In my opinion the option to exploit does not need to be announced ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Btw: I don't care about EVE. I'm not into archeology ;)

Regardless they had an bug, we can atleast agree on that. If they knew about a bug for days and they don't tell their community that using the bug is an exploit or they don't fix it.

Then it shouldn't be a ban for using something that could easily be a feature. Communication is key and they have failed over and over with it. For example, when they enabled force respawn = lose inventory, a lot of players force respawned before they even put out the patch notes about this change.

Hence all these people that reported but didn't exploit it are proof that it is possible to report and not exploit. Something that those now banned failed to do. They didn't only fail, they did the exact opposite: they did not report but they did exploit.

So if NQ can't fix the issue fast enough, next time when there's an issue like this NQ should shut down the servers and re-open them once the issue is fixed, so nobody thinks it's ok to exploit if NQ doesn't fix instantly? I certainly wouldn't like that.

The rest of that posting again implies that it was RDMS mismanagement which still nobody provided any proof for.

    NQ Said:

    Quote

" it appears to be an issue that was created when we moved the markets, making it editable by players"

That would mean it is in some way an issue with the permissions system (RDMS). This doesn't appear like an exploit, or hack. Its was just a bug that people used.

Fundemetnally, after it was reported three days ago, NQ should have came out and said that this is an exploit, please do not use it. Then this would not have happened, and if it did the bans would be 100% justified.

Its not that hard. There was a bug after an update in EVE, it took a couple of hours (at max) for it to be declared an exploit so people wouldn't use it, and if they did a sanction could have been applied to their account.

NQ just needs to improve their communication.

  4. I have heard of other players reporting it and seen posted proof of the same. I have filled various tickets, most of them have not been touched in weeks, to months. Including bug reports. It is hard to take the standpoint that this should be a ban, when it is enteirly the fault of NQ, and when the ticket proecss sucks so much.

It is hard to justifiy this action when NQ came out a week ago and said that they wouldn't get invovled in RDMS issues and that it was the players responsibility to ensure this doesn't happen to them.

This is NQ's fault they need to deal with it themselves. When @Vifrevaertand his crew stole nearly an entire factory from DSI, it was a mess in DSI, and yeah a lot of the people who had stuff stolen from them were pissed (and still are), and while they would have wanted a ban, it isn't fair to the people who stole the stuff. Just like in this case it isn't fair to ban the people who stole voxels from a market. You have marketed your game towards people who played EVE, and if you didn't expect this to happen then you need to get better rules.

As long as you are prepared to ban everyone who has and will do something on this serverity (all item duplication included) then I think should be allowed. Else, you should unban these guys and use this as the policy for the future.

Pvp really doesn't make much sense in the ingame lore. Humanity escapes a destroyed home planet and comes to a new solar system to rebuild society. Where does conflict and self destruction help with that? Keep it to VR, if anything.

Sociopathy and psychopathy are mental illnesses that should have been solved and completely removed from such a society.

As Charlie Chaplin in the Great Dictator said, we should try to help each other; not profit from misery and despair.

There is death and wars and murder in life. Do you really think that if a portion of humanity went to a new solar system, without any laws there wouldn't be people running around and killing other people? You should thank NQ that they have given you a safe zone.

    • Sharing accounts between different people is forbidden. Any action performed on your account is the responsibility of its owner. The Customer Support team won’t be able to help regarding any issues happening due to account sharing. The owner is responsible for any action made with the account.

    What happens to cheaters ?

    • Our policy is to not issue automatic bans. There is always a human review when the anti-cheat system detects any unauthorized behaviour. Nonetheless, you may temporarily be kicked out of the game if the anti-cheat cannot initialize correctly.
    • Sanctions include (at the discretion of the Novaquark team):
Removing access to the game, temporarily or permanently (aka ban),
      - In case of recurring offenses, the player may get a hardware ban (in this case, the player won’t be able to play the game with any current or future account, even if those accounts were never used for cheating).
      - Plus any action required to revert any change made to the game world (removing Quantas or items, restoring constructs state, etc.).
      - This list is not exhaustive and may be updated by Novaquark as the team sees fit.

With the owner being responsible for any actions performed with the account. Could it be confirmed when 2FA will be added to the game to better protect our accounts?

  8. So I don't really post much here but I thought this was an interesting topic.

Looking from the point-of-view as someone who helps runs/admins a community the Pre-alpha hurts quite a lot. It stops communication between people in the org, talk about most of the game and stops the community from growing as much as I want. This can lead to burnout from the orgs and the game itself which is a problem. Now there are a few options to fix this:

    1. NQ removes the NDA

This probably wont happen as NQ has said quite a few times that it still committed to the NDA

    2. Upgrade the accounts - So Beta gets access to Alpha, etc.

This could happen, probably wont. Justified because the sudden release of pre-Alpha. Everything got kicked back. (according to an old thread Beta was meant to be released this year.)

Now the third option is probably the best and most likely to happen:

    3. Allow non Pre-Alpha users to agree to the NDA and add a badge to there profile showing they have signed it.

This would really help communities develop as more people can have access to chats/and actually talk about the game but still keep the NDA intact.

I do hope choose something to help communities with this. And I know the Supporter packs mean more can access the Pre-Alpha but that is locked behind a pay wall that not everyone can access.

    Many Thanks

As stages of game play open up more and more funding will pour in...especially if they avoid rushing anything and listen to the fans.

This. As long as they listen to the community should be fine (cough cough CCP)

    • They havent done much yet to prevent hackers

This interests me as I hope that they will stop LUA scripts from interacting with the computer's as talented people can use a LUA script to create a door into someone's PC.

  11. Now i agree that it does look like they could be all alts. But remember that there are other communities out there that could easily bring that many members here if they wanted to in a day. So until you have proof or know for a fact that they are alts treat them as a new community because they might actually be one and we dont want to scare away new players.

Also if you stopped for a minute and did a google search you would find references on 4chan and such. So... Stop assuming that people might be alts. Goonswarm Federation (on EVE Online) has over 25000 account in it, They can easily get 58 people here if they want. Seriously stop assuming some orgs to have alts in them. It will just stop people from joining the game if you cry "Alt" every time a new big organization pops up. There are other games out there other than DU that people can come from.

  12. Hi everyone!

To end (sadly) this mystery, the obscured stretch goal was something we planned to have before deciding to stop the stretch goals at the bounty system.

The reason behind this decision: we want to avoid the feature creep trap, which generally delays a lot the official release of crowdfunded games.

That doesn't mean we are going to cancel the obscured stretch goal. It's just it won't be implemented for the Official release, and it will just be part of one of the free expansions we will work on after the Official Release. We have a lot of unrevealed stretch goals in the pipeline so you can expect, if all goes well, many expansions in the coming years after the Official Release! ;)

Sidenote: the obscured stretch goal is going to disappear with the updated picture of the stretch goals (coming today) on the Crowdfunding Portal.

    Best Regards,

    Nyzaltar.

Can you tell us what you had planned so we can know for the future?
