    I have been gaming / father of 4 / full time tech for 14 years now. My steam account shows that if you know that type of account but i want to personally Thank ALL the devs , And workers of DU for
    bringing the world of DU to us all, and all gamer's together into a game that i think personally will change game-play mechanics for all of us for any future game. games will need to compare or beat standards being set here. Glad im a part of this!
     
    So Big thanks to JC , Alain , Maxime , And all the Programmers , Graphic designers. As I speak from most DU fans we love you guys for it

    Hi everyone, 
     
    As some of you were wondering a bit a bout this unannounced video, here are a few clarifications:
    - This is the first tutorial video regarding Pre-Alpha gameplay.
    - What is in it is subject to change quite significantly in the near future (with community feedback and also several changes already planned). Also, as the Pre-Alpha test sessions are still quite limited for the time being, we prefer to see Pre-Alpha tester focusing on testing what's in game instead of recording videos to make tutorials that would become quickly obsolete (you will have all the time to do your own tutorials in Alpha, when UI will be not far from being in its definitive version).
    - Releasing publicly this video wasn't a mistake. It was done on purpose: we are aware that a lot of backers didn't have (yet) the opportunity to have access to the game, so it seemed to us it was necessary to give them some preview of the game mechanics currently in-game. Moreover, we hope this will help, in addition to the in-game tutorials - a lot of Pre-Alpha testers to master more quickly all the tools available.
    - While we considered not opening comments at first, we came to the conclusion that it would be better to allow them for a  public video. Comments are now opened on this video.
    - This video is not under NDA so the content can be used by other Youtubers.
    - This video doesn't replace the DevDiary of this month.
    - There will be other (shorter) Pre-Alpha tutorial videos soon (between today and tomorrow) to help Pre-Alpha testers grasping other game mechanics currently in play.

    Somebody sneezed over in Cinderfall Syndicate and a bunch of members went flying. We'll see if the members remaining are made of heavier stuff.
    Another 10 or so new organizations to hit 3+ members and The Blue Moon ᵀᵃᵛᵉʳⁿ is steadily growing.

    Howdy folks!
    Welcome back to the charts, I have once again started them and they will be posted, weekly, on Saturdays. This is to reduce the workload and stress that had been put on me. 
    The charts have been reduced by one, that I didn't think worked with the rest and caused me issues last go around, this was the growth compared to other organizations chart. 
    I have also made a few of the charts easier to read, like the unique member and total member count chart, with the addition of a count of total accumulation per week. This allows you to see how many new names are actually joining the organizations in the top ten, as well as who is just joining many organizations.

    I have also included, within these sets, a data point from my last chart set - this is to see how much growth had occurred in my absence. 

    I have also made a discord, for those that want the charts immediately, or want to know when they are posted, with links and access to my archive folder.

    Well guys, 
    I would like to announce that this weekend, the charts will be back! 

    They will instead, be weekly charts allowing me to get a little more info squeezed in!

    It also allows me to do other things and not stress me out, as well as let me further expand upon these data sets, whether it be deeper and more analytical or wider and more encompassing. 

    Thanks all, for the support and questions about when and whether it would be coming back. 

    **Edit: I would also like to mention, that I will be uploading all of the previous chart images to a shareable folder - for now, so the community may go back through them.

    SC to ladnie wygladajacy sklepik ze statkami jak dla mnie. Moze za kilka lat cos tam zrobia ale absolutnie nic mi nie zastapi satysfakcji zbudowania wlasnego miasta/statku/czy bazy i jak odwiedze kolege obok to wiem ze za kazdym razem to bedzie unikatowe doswiadczenie. W SC jak zobacze statek to bede tylko wiedzial jak gruba byla VISA card ;). Nie.. jak dla mnie to jest model gier z lat 90.
     
    DU moze nie bedzie tak pieknie wygladalo ale dla mnie grywalnosc sie liczy. Ta gra jest najblizej z jakiejkolwiek gier ktore zblizyly sie do mojej gry marzen. Mam nadzieje ze sie nie rozczaruje. Ale coz, kazdy ma swoje preferencje
     
    @Skimus zapraszamy do nas na kanal. Naliczylismy 6 osob z goldem juz.

    Are you referring to pre-alpha, alpha-1 or alpha-2 ?
     
    DU will not have damage from collision between constructs. Crashing a construct into the ground or into an asteroid will cause damage though. There will obviously be no combat damage until the PVP mechanics are implemented.
     
    Pre-alpha will basically be a "creative mode" where players get given unlimited resources to experiment and build whatever they want. Players will also be able to create blueprints of their constructs, which they'll be able to keep permanently. Beyond that there are no other game systems implemented yet AFAIK. However, constructs built in the alpha stages will be lost, because there will be server wipes between the development stages.
     
    During alpha 1 and alpha 2, more systems will be added incrementally, such as scanning, mining, markets, skill training, etc. We don't have a roadmap as yet, so it's not clear yet what is planned to be added at each stage.
     
    Once the basics are reasonably stable, NQ will probably start on the PVP implementation, which sounds like it's planned for late alpha-2.

    I don't know by IMO it should be locked to prevent stealing ship projects. If not, someone could buy interesting project, add one voxel and create his own blueprint to sell it as his own project. It would be unfair.

    they haven't stated yet if they just define "down" while building the construct (they have that already via that widget) or if there may be some kind of gravity generators later on. Has to be seen I'd say

    Hi there,
     
    In the near future, windows will be available under the form of decorative Elements.
    However, implementing voxels made from a transparent material, nothing is clear planned at the moment in the roadmap, so if it's implemented, it will be most likely after the official release.
     
    The challenge of making transparent voxels functional enough to use it for windows: Developing this type of materials to the point of being able to make windows of custom size, with a perfect transparency with no blur or deformation when whatching something placed on the other side of the windows is not an easy task. And it will cost a significant amount of development time. So as always, we will concentrate first to core mechanics and mandatory content before starting developing transparent materials that could be used in an industrialized way.
     
    In any case, we will keep you informed about the evolution on this topic when we will have fresh news about it

Thats some advantage compared to new players at premiere day but not as big - even if someone created a project of good fighter or battleship, he has to modyfy the project after CvC patch to add weapons. Some great project maybe will need huge reconstruction because weapon will be different than the bullders expected. For example fast and well maneuvering small spaceship designed in alpha phase as a future fighter could end as a big fail because it will be too small to add any effective weapon without loosing it's great strengths. It may be frustrating for constructors but also exciting. We will be learning on our own mistakes

    I'll be trying to push the limits during alpha and beta, seeing just how big I can make something, how awkward or poorly a ship can handle, how fast I can make a ship built just to be fast, etc.
     
    At launch however, I'll get my org together as best as I can, get into space ASAP and go pretty far out. Far enough that it would be pretty challenging to bump into us accidentally without sensors (yes and far enough for trade to be terribly inconvenient). Go isolationist for a while until we've got a general culture and uniform-ish look going. Once we've got a good mix of ships, weapons, loot etc...
     
    We'll return to populated space, a foreign people with foreign looking tech, with our own isolated history. neat?

    Ok, I've seen some people creating posts about Sketchup or even Blender. Don't get me wrong, they are great tools, but totally hardcore and not easy to understand by significant part of player base. I did some research few days ago and was looking not for perfect results (I will look for those later in game), but for tool that will allow me easy and fast prototyping.

    - quickly prototype anything you want with cubes and save it as .vox (no slopes, but for prototypes it doesn't matter and there is way to auto-add them in the renderer)

    - load your .vox and render cool pictures out of them to show your friends (allows multiple settings as shadows, background, grid visibility, etc.)
     
    Some may say they want perfection. Ok, go use Blender. But those looking for prototyping can create really huge things much faster. I'm going to make tutorial soon and if you are interested in it, you are free to join the Alpha Academy.     I hope:
    -Ship to Ship - no
    -Building to ship - no
    -Ground to Ship - yes
     
    Ramming is useful thing, but very expensive for performance (also very abusable, build stick of armour and destroy turrets without major risk to your ship). But if ships can freely fall down on the ground and do not receive any damage, this would be wrong. I belive it is possible to make economical version of simple collision GvS.
