    Check out the lore.

We're still asleep on the Arcship during Alpha and Beta.  It's just a simulation.

I'm glad we get to keep Blueprints though.  It would just be depressing to loose creative ideas like that.

DU already has quite a few of the skilled Landmark voxelmancers on the Alpha Team.

You're the only one who keeps mentioning Forgelight twerk.

Landmark uses BOTH Forgelight and Voxelfarm.

Forgelight is an MMO game engine created by SOE/Daybreak and used in many of their games including Landmark.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ForgeLight

    Dual Universe is using Unigine.

Voxelfarm is the Voxel Engine SOE used to create the fully destructible voxel world of Landmark.  http://www.voxelfarm.com/index.html

    SOE/Daybreak did NOT create Voxelfarm.

Novaquark actually considered using Voxelfarm at one point.  https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/14-voxel-tools-pre-alpha-game-design/page-4#entry2080

1.)  It appears alpha access will be available.  At least temporarily for phase 1.
2.) The pets will be something new, if I'm reading that correctly.  The Kickstarter pets will remain exclusive.

Twitter and Reddit are definitely still down for me.

I feel so disconnected.  I had to google "Why is twitter down" just to find out what was happening lol

If you have a company IRL, and you don't want to hire criminals, what's the magical device developed by Alien Overlord Games, who have created this Earth 2.3 simulation? Nothing? Oh yeah, because in real life you have to actually perform background checks yourself by consulting police databases and such.

^I think it should work like this. Modify the community page so that it's easy to search by member, and look for their affiliations. Possibly you can check past groups they've been a part of, and if they very recently abandoned all their connections, maybe they're a spy or just a conman. Maybe they've discovered the light and will plead to let them join despite their shady resume. Should be integrated straight into the game UI. But nothing automatic. It forces you to think about all aspects of running an organisation.

Then vet them, as I keep saying.

I answered it in a roundabout manner. There are things that would increase the momentary enjoyment for me, but I recognise that overcoming the difficulties the game throws at you makes the game ultimately more fun and as such I don't advocate for it - not to mention it puts all sides of society (hackers, pirates, criminals, CEOs, truckers, traders, etc.) on a fairly even playing ground. You are advocating making running an organisation simpler when I think that allowing complexity means that organisations will be more rewarding when you can get them working accurately, and it will produce more entertaining stories when it's indeed possible for spies to enter large organisations with poor HR sectors, or for poor hires to be let in.

I don't know that I care what you want to do with your organization - you can limit it however you wish.
What I commented on is your general vision about traders and pirates - which sounds prejudiced.
You can be prejudiced if you want to be - I hope that our community, in general, is not prejudiced -- and I hope that NovaQuark does not support that kind of prejudice with the specific design you have suggested.

I am specifically against your suggestion of a crude on/off switch.
I am probably in favor of a fairly robust permissions system.

If you don't want people in your org to join multiple orgs, just kick people who join multiple orgs.
Nobody is forcing you to accept people who are members of multiple orgs.

    Archonious,
Everyone is simply stating their opinion on the matter in an open forum manner as it is meant to be. Some people are agreeing, some disagreeing, no one is saying that the choice to lock down an organization or vice versa is bad, infact, i've read the opposite where most have said that the game should allow you to decide how you want to run your organization as you are a player in this player driven game.

Both systems can work together and both systems are somewhat good when you want to work at certain levels. A larger collective may want to use multiple orgsnization member ship to make a community more tied together and a smaller enitity may want to lock down the organization and make sure anything within is safe from everyone, even with how the RDMS system works.

As far as i'm concerned, NQ will give the players the ability to form whatever organization they want to, locked down or not.

    Also,
Guys, try to control the urge to fight, as much as we let passions get to us, the game isn't even in alpha yet - we should be focused on ideas and helping NQ.

But you already have the option.

    1. Anyone who is a member of another organisation can be refused access to any sensitive documents via the RDMS. Have them as basic lackeys who follow orders and that's all.

    2. If that's still to sensitive to spying for you, refuse their membership. Spell it out in rainbow coloured, bolded letters that you will not accept any members who are members of another organisation. In the final game I'm sure that NQ will leave legates in charge of membership applications. Instead of relying on an automated system to prevent you from allowing multiorg members, be vigilant yourself, like people in the real world have to be if they wish to be restrictive.

An org in DU is not just a corporation, it could be a political entity, a nation, a school, a hovercraft racing league, a single ships crew, an entire gang of ships, a bank, a mafia etc.  Anything that could be seen as a group of people getting together.

While I do not mind such a feature being present in the game, I do question any organisation using it as it will limit the members ability to enjoy the excitement of also being in, for example, the number one hovercraft racing team in the galaxy.  Limiting org membership also does not hinder spies in any way.

I prefer freedom, as such everyone has the freedom to choose to limit their own freedom.  To each their own.

We'll have to see how deep they go once we get the Survival expansion.
And we'll have to see which comes first - Surivival or Stargates.

I believe another reason for not having orbiting planets (besides all that add complexity) is that planets could effectively crash into ships/stations parked in space. Imagine a space station or large ship "accidentally" nudged into the path of a planet.

I think they will try to apply the forum title to the email address associated with the Kickstarter campaign.
So, if your e-mail is different than the Kickstarter e-mail and you want the forum title, you need to let them know.

If they send game codes for alpha access, you could just grab those from the e-mail associated with your Kickstarter pledge. Sure.

Well, yeah, this has been my expectation since the description of Arkification was first shared by NovaQuark.
Main pillar of my gameplay will be acting to patrol and secure the artifacts that keeps the bubble active.
I'm expecting there will be players trying to deactivate those artifacts.

I hope the design is not as simple as one central location for the controls.
I'm hoping there will be several locations beneath the bubble.
No fun to just sit in one spot hoping someone will appear to start an adventure.

The devs will figure out the details.

(I also hope Arkification is not like Eve.)
