    Yes, you will be able to go anywhere. That's pretty much the technology developed at Novaquark: the CSSC (Continuous Single-Shard Cluster). More information here!

     

    Going from one solar system to another for the first time will take time and fuel (we don't know yet what will be the time range yet from one system to another). Building Stargates won't be mandatory to go to another solar system, but it will be way faster, nearly instantaneous, to keep real incentives for stargates. This will also make two kinds of space travel gameplay: it will be quick to go from one colonized solar system to another where stargates exist. it will be much slower to explore uncolonized solar systems, where everything remains to be done ;)

    First thanks for that list. I find this so we can say there will be also some type of fuel tanks :D

    And Stargates are confirmed and 2 kinds of space Travel.

  2. I don't know 100% but i'm sure Terraforming has been confirmed as a no, but might be available in a kickstarter goal (maybe, might be confusing myself here).

     

    As for the harsh environment, I don't think anything has been said about the different types of biomes and planet types yet. Can't think of anything that's been said at least. However there is a thread somewhere about planets and tentacle planets, or planets that would try to eat you and such.

     

    I like the idea that there could be planets that you would have to build 'differently' on if you wanted to build there, like a water planet that you need to build floating buildings on, or attach it to the sea bed to be able to build. Or lava planets where you need to build supports of <rare material> into the lava before you can build normally. Or oxygen less planets where you would have to build inside domes or airtight buildings to be able to breath/replenish oxygen ect.

     

    I hope there is something like them, I like having the extra challenge of where i'm going to build my base and ships. But I think a lot of this has been confirmed to be only if certain stretch goals for kickstarter are met. I think.

    Terraforming is an extensive word. I would like to say if you start to smooth a land it is a Kind of Terrarforming.

    But again you illustrate an important Point ( I love your Point of view  ;)  )

    If we are able to build in this harsh envirnoments like water planets, Lava planets, did we Need Special Buildings/Resources ? ( This is what Nora already said )

     

     

    While hope some planets offer unique challenges, remember we have spacesuits and can survive in a vacuum. I'm sure, at least at first, your suit will protect you from the environment.

     

    It would be nice if later on you could remove your suit on habitable planets, or non habitable if you wish to die. The lore does mention oxygen co tent and temp ranges of Alioth, slim sure it is being discussed

     

    Oh please no dont come with such things I have to think about Space Engineers. How stupid this look if you jump around with your suit on earth like planets.

    But please dont understand me wrong if you have to wear a Special or a Military suit its okay, just dont run around with them in a coffe shop :o

    Edit: Now i read it you already said it would be nice to remove it in save Areas. :)

    The universe is a harsh place, we all know that and we already spoke about that there would be a large number of planets.

    And no one will look like the other.

    We also know that we will be able to build on the planets. Maybe just an outpost or an City or a big trade planet who knows.

     

    But the human race is a weak race. We Need a respirable atmosphere, water, Food, not too hot not too cold etc.

    To come to the Point we Need earth like planets.

     

    So would we be able to build on planets with a harsh Environment ?

    Whats about terrarforming ?

     

     

  4. I would also recommend shields like that and not just small save Areas.

    As I mentioned in my post where I suggest destructible Planets, we also have to speak about the planet defence.

     

    I thought in one Topic there was an Suggestion for the shield that it shouldnt act like one big bubble it should have parts. ( see the Picture below )

    So if you are able to Focus your fire, one of this parts should break for a Moment and you could be able to send out some troops to the planet.

    Hi everyone,

     

    This is definitely something we would like to put in place.

    However, in order to create event on a global scale, this will require specific Admin / GM tools. Meaning Development time (and not just a little).

    That might be a stretch goal for the Kickstarter and put on the roadmap after the official release (because the primary focus is to bring all basic mechanics to the players first before thinking about events). But indeed, this would considerably increase the immersion in the game :)

    Just a small clarification: you propose to destroy the surface of planets, right ? Not the planet itself ?

    Because, in the later case, it would be hard to have protected territories if the planet is destroyed (see Arkification subjects) :).

    But as Nora already said.

     

    Nyz has commented saying there will be positional damage on constructs and I see no reason why this wouldn't transfer over to the voxels belonging to a planet, and it has been said that you can mine/destroy everything on the planet, other than the places that are protected by arksites or potentially alien ruins (not sure what the monoliths will be though).

     

    So What I think is that yes, you could destroy a planet, give that the devs create a weapon element powerful enough to do it, or that you have enough time. And yes if you bombard a specific area on a planet it will take damage unless protected.

     

    Although I'm not sure about the planet destroying weapons. What if there is only 1 TU / Arksite on the planet and you use this weapon, does the entire of the planet blow up and leave this chunk of planet floating, does this weapon bypass arksites, what happens if you target a arksite with it ?... If it is just a really powerful weapon and leaves big craters in the ground I don't have anything against it, but a whole planet destroying weapon could be both really horrible for the people on the receiving end of it, or the people who are unlucky to be placed on the planet. They will lose everything.

     

    I don't think a really expensive build cost would create any balance out of a weapon like this, because it would allow the massive corporations to just eradicate anyone who stands in their way who doesn't have a Arkified TU to protect them.

    It would be horrible for the people on the receiving end of it, or the people who are unlucky to be placed on the planet. They will lose everything.

     

    But i still would love this Feature, there was another Topic about planet moving with engines, like in planetary Annihilation, but what happend if i move the planet into the sun :D

    Of course this Feature have to be carefully balanced and we have to speak about defence of the planet against such weapons. But Who said that the weapon have to be so powerfull.

    What happen if I shoot with such a weapon to the same Point again and again and again?

    I still suggest another fast way to leave the solar System otherwise its just suboptimal. Now you can decided between a Long risky slow travell or an ambush at the stargate.

  8. Will it be possible to destruct Planets/Stars ?

     

    Just think about it how great this would be .

     

    Of course it should be realy hard/costly to destruct a complete Planet with massive weapons but i think it would be a great Feature. Just imagine how your weapons shoot a big Plasma sphere to the planet and it burst on the surface of the planet.

     

    Another thing what I was thinking about is if I start to bombard a Planet which effect will have this to the Environment.

    I mean after 1000 of Plasma Impacts on a planet this cant be healthy.

     

    So what do you think about that ?

    We plan stealth technology in Dual Universe (even if it's not planned soon).

     

    Afk cloaking is indeed a problem in EVE.

    Psychological warfare is interesting, as long as it involves activity from the player wanting to do it.

     

    From what we have analyzed, afk cloaking has been possible because of a few things:

    - the fact that all players in the solar system are displayed on the local chat. If you see someone you don't know, it migh be a spy, or someone planning an ambush.

    - the fact that a player can leave from a safe area (space stations) from a unique point (easy to ambush). 

    - the fact that a player wanting to leave the solar system generally needs to use a stargate (also an easy place to ambush).

     

    As Dual Universe won't work "solar system by solar system" and there won't be only one point of entry/exit for a safe area, this kind of abuse should have a lot less impact in Dual Universe. And if it still does... well, we keep your suggestions in our papers as possible ways to handle it ;)

    As we now know from another Topic, we wont have a solar System to solar System travell.

    So I agree with Ripper at 2 Points:

     

    1. Standard thrusters would be used for normal travel and dogfighting.
    2. And a FTL ( Speed should be related to the known Technology )

  10. To be fair, we don't know if it's unrealistic or not, the only point of comparison we have to use is earth.

     

    There could be planets out there that try to eat you, we don't know either way yet.... I like to think there is though ;)

     

    To be fair we have more than just our Earth to comparison.

     

    But i also prefer something which will blow up my mind. So back on Point dont hang on Water Planets let your mind flow.

    Now I am thinking about that the game plays "just" in one Galaxie. Dont understand me wrong it is immersive:

    Just take a look Milky Way = 100.000 - 120.000/180.000 light years in Diameter and approximately 2ly in thikness ( this is realy small )

    Between 100-400 Billion Stars in it.

     

    Now I am thinking of No Man´s sky or Spore. But travelling from one Planet to another one ?? All planets have a fix Environment/Sphere with Moons Asteriods etc where you jump in ??

    I am not sure if this is what I call freedom.

    If you are worried about programmers getting an unfair advantage, there is an elegant and simple solution in theory (it may have a lot of practical concerns to address) : all programs must be open source and everyone can copy the programs if they want to.

    Everybody want to get a reward or appreciation for his/her work and there is nothing wrong with it.

    Like I already said they should be able to sell there scripts InGame.

     

    And with our new knownledge we can say that they dont whould have an to big Advantage.

  13. Shields:

     

    I would love the Option for energy Distribution in generaly. Not just for the shields. (Scans,Engine,Weapons)

    I also recommend the usage of cpus which controll the energy Distribution for example if you Switch in combat mod the most energy will evenly distributed to the shields weapons and other neccecary combat modules. Also you should be able to preadjust the cpus how much Energy which modul should receive depending on which mod you Need.

     

    Another Thing which would be nice if the shield have more functions. For example there will be more type of weapons and you shield have to be configurate to the enemy wepaons otherwise the shoots will go through your shield and in the best case the shoot will deflected from your shields. A modul/CPU you can buy in the market should be responsible for that. Depending on the Quality/AI of the CPU/Modul and on the time how Long the battle takes as more efficient your shield will be aginst the enemy weapons as Long as the modul wont be damaged.

What I know is that there will be restrictions to lua, we don't know them yet and we might not know them till release, you never know what's capable with something so open untill you release it into the public. I would imagine there will be basic lua scripts you can buy and plug into the DCU? (Forgot what the modules called)... so anyone will have access to many lua scripts, but big complex lua will remain coder only unless sold, so there will be some advantage but not a great one.. (hopefully)..

    To come back on Point. I was also thinking about that. In general its a nice feature which give much freedom to the Players.

    So if they will have an small Advantage it would be okay otherwise it will be a no go if I find high Price LUA Scripts with 100% aim-accuracy in the black market.

     

    I also recommend to sell a wide choice of Lua Scripts In-Game and give the Players the Chance to sell there scripts InGame.

  15. I couldn't help thinking about 'Starbound' there and tentacle planets, where the vegetation attacks you. That would be an interesting planet i think, you land there and the PLANTS come after you, growing at a exponential rate covering everything unless you burn them away with fire or some forcefield.

     

    I'm thinking of two things that are like that, the 'growth' in C&C Tiberian Wars, where it had the mouth at the center and if tanks when through the 'growth' (not sure of it's name) they would take damage and die, same as if it grow towards buildings.

     

    The other one is Creeper world, constantly flooding planets that if it gets to you, you die and you need to fend it off.

     

    Either way, I would love a planet that attacks you and tried to stop you from colonizing it.

     

    This is what I said. I dont know how "unrealistic" the game will be, but hey what is unreal.

  16. In my opinion, there should be all planets, which the human race just can imagine. Desert Planets, Gas Planets, Jungle Planets, Earth like Planets etc.
    And the more hostile the planet is the more rare resources should be there.

    The universe is incredibly big and full of secrets. I am not a physicist, but who of us was ever in the deep space and who says that our laws of nature will count there :P

    My real Name doesnt matter :ph34r: .  I am from Austria and I am 21 years old.

    I love to play two types of Games one is set in the future and the other in the past. I will give you 3 guesses and the first two dont Count, which of them this one is.

     

    All jokes beside!

     

    I am here cause I realy enjoy all common Space Games, it doesnt matter if it is EVE, Stellaris, Sins of A solar Empire, Star trek online etc.

     

    I will enjoy this game, even if it is only half as good as I expect so to the Dev Team give me a BuyButton and go on ;).

     

    P.S.: It would be also nice if we are able to build up a small German Community. So to all like-minded people outside don't be shy to say Hallo, Hi, Hey, Moin, Was geht ab? or whatever :rolleyes:
