  1. Maybe we shouldn't even think of interstellar space as a category on its own, because it's just part of the same continuous universe. The only difference is that there are no stars, so it should just be what space would be like without stars. Things may be 'rogue', and if there are alien artifacts, those should also be able to be found in star systems.
  2. I guess they can make some fundamental code for being hit by voxels, and then implement it in a more specific way if needed
  3. Hi, you are right on time for the galactic hype train. Enjoy the ride!
  4. Those mechanics don't have to be made specifically for sword-fighting, right? They could be used for any object-to-player damage, such as falling things and whatnot.
  5. As you said, EVE is a shared universe, with a shared experience and history. In such a universe, the things you do/create can be a meaningful part of that story. Mechanics that allow for a great emergent story are those that make (from the F.A.Q.) "(...) a virtual world of endless possibilities where [gamers] are free to do anything they like, build anything they imagine, become anyone they want" and one that is competitive and not too easy, so the mechanics should be adjusted for that.
  6. Hello everyone, I just found out about this game. It's a bit weird because I also happen to be making a 'single-shard' persistent game where you can build, script and share/sell things. I'm really interested in what this game will become, and I'm looking forward to be part of it!
