They had a booth up at Pax Prime most would overlook it because it was so plain but the footage and demo sold me on it.

Hi Bleep_Bloop and welcome to our forum.

Not sure if this is the best way to introduce yourself in a positive way, but that's your choice.
We know our project is ambitious and we don't force anyone to believe the Novaquark team on words alone. We communicate as much as possible on the game development, we show what we can show. We do our best to avoid overpromising things (we stick to what seems to be technically feasible to us) and we try to be as transparent as possible in the development process, then it's up to the players to make their own opinion.

If you have a hard time to imagine how a game can contain many planets without being extremely unstable, keep in mind that the game world won't be hosted on just one single hardware server, but hosted on a server cluster.

    we suggest to look at:
    - This page on our website describing the "single shard" technology: http://www.dualthegame.com/technology
    - This devblog post: https://devblog.dualthegame.com/2014/09/26/a-single-shard-continuous-universe-one-world-no-boundaries/
    - This video explaining visually how the game world is splitted in real time across many servers to keep a global stability and handle the workload proportionally to the number of players gathering in specific areas:

After that, if you still have questions, feel free to ask.

    About Brian Fargo:
You might not like the games delivered by his studio (maybe they don't suit your tastes) but they have been successful and the numbers disagree with your opinion. The fact that you don't like them doesn't mean they are bad. Beside, it would make no sense to compare Wasteland 2/Torment: Tides of Numenera with Dual Universe as they are two completely different types of games (the first ones are rpg solo games with deep storyteling designed by developers in 3D isometric view, the other one is a Massively Multiplayer Online RPG Sandbox in first person view where the story is made by players).

    Best Regards,
    Nyzaltar.

The problem is how will they be useful. Cooking recipes for buffs or something, sure.

But people will only eat so much food. The price of crops will plummet day one from over supply and little demand.

You could make the recipes crazy like, 500 potatoes = 1 thing of french fries. Even if you take a wild approach like that there isn't much demand. It is not as if we will have NPC's that need to eat regularly and keep a baseline price.

Growing crops would end up being only for your own amusement and bring minimal overall value. Not that the act of planting seeds and waiting for the finished crop isn't entertaining in some kind of low risk achievement thing. The act of farming just doesn't bring a whole lot to the game of building your own ships and destroying them.

I would imagine by this time that synthetic meats are produce-able. the need for grain would go down further if we don't have to funnel it into livestock. Also, it might just be possible to synthesize whatever food from energy.

    No clue!

I do know that in Space Engineers, the distance you could jump with a jump drive (and the ammount of charged energy spent to jump that distance) was based partly off of the mass of your ship; The more mass your ship had, the shorter your max jump distance and the more of your stored energy it takes to jump any distance.

I'm willing to bet that FTL and jumps will have something to do with mass, but too soon to guess. I'm willing to bet FTL will take a lot of power, ruling out very small ships for FTL travel, but there will likely be downsides to being very massive for FTL. Possibly it'll take longer to "accelerate" to jump (and to decelerate).

The next person who gets an interview with JC out there .... please clarify this for us all ... mmmmkay?  Thnx

I thought copies can not be made from copies but only from masters .... and both are in game items. Maybe master and snapshot are the same. I was thinking they were separate things. Maybe I am taking the BPO and BPC concept from Eve a bit, but I thought JC said they were different things.

Because nothing kills creativity more than a bunch of people attacking the original creator for "stealing" the design that was stolen from them seen it happen have had it happen to me .

I wouldnt want to put something out for the public if all it means is that someone will steal credit and I will be left defending myself from claims of theft.

Is it worth playing around with Space Engineers waiting for DU alpha to start up?
