Playing solo does not mean avoiding all human interaction. It just means you want to play by yourself. You would treat the other players as NPCs, get the materials you need from the market and make money by acepting player made contracts (deliver this, get us that, kill them). Sometimes you will have to take the bullet and hire a protection team when going through a nasty area of space or work off some debt by helping the navy take out some pirates, but it is very easy to play solo. Also, safety is overrated, you just need a plan B when all hell breaks loose.

Anyway, the delay is a good thing because it means that the first time it is released to the (select) public, both via backing the game and online video, it will have a higher quality. This higher quality upon first impression will increase the chances of making DU get off the ground once it fully releases. It is also the same effect where by having an early access game more complete before it enters early access, it generally does better than those which are less complete.

    Hello Dual Universe Community,

We are bringing you today a new idea that is in the works and we want your opinion. The Alioth Broadcasting Corporation invites the content creators of Dual Universe to take part in creating a 24/7 live audio streaming network of content focused around Dual Universe.

We envision a platform that allows anyone from the Dual Universe community to apply and DJ/host on this station, creating their own shows or podcasts based on Dual Universe in some way or another. DJ Hosts are allotted time slots that work with their schedule where they can play music, talk to players, run radio games, talk DU news and more.

At the moment we are still in the early phases of testing our streaming platform and trying to integrate player ads and DJ interfaces in a cohesive manner so that it is as seamless and automated as possible.

We're asking that any organizations that may want their ads played to send us (on discord preferably) 30-60 second ads based around your org (think radio ads). For now, just come up with short, simple ads for the community to hear. We are going to be using these ads to test airspace and control.

In addition to ad content, we are also looking for people who might be interested in being a  DJ, whether live or just pre-recorded content so that we can start running through a beta schedule. That also includes talk shows or broadcasts centered around your organization. If you would like to be a DJ or want to try it out, let us know and we will start testing with multiple people. Requirements for becoming a DJ are a clear microphone (if you're going to be speaking) and you must be able to download (install and setup) the appropriate streaming software onto your own computer. You must also have free time(s) available sometime during the week for about 1-2 hours minimum.

Over the next couple of weeks we will be running through a beta schedule, and while we don't expect much content to fill the air until at least alpha launches, we wanted to get this up and running now with a sane scheduling system and enough content-producers lined up so that we can launch the complete station all at once.

If you would like to be a part of Dual Universe Radio Network, let us know by sending us a message through discord or the forums (this forum). As this is a new idea, we would love any input the community has, so let us know your thoughts or questions below.

We want to stress that this is being built as a neutral, 3rd party group that will take no bias towards any other organization. Our goal with this network is simply to keep it operational and to keep it fun for our listeners. We don't favor one group or another, however, individuals on the network are free to represent their own thoughts and opinions under certain guidelines we will have in place.

mrjacobean got a reaction from Armilus in Agriculture
There could be two ways of farming crops. The first is manual where nearly everything requires player interaction, either via avatar or player piloted construct (farm vehicles). The second could be automated, where you set up the farm as before, but you have rails on which mechanical arms move across, tending and harvesting the crops. The rails and arms would be part of the same construct as the farm itself, with the arms just being animation (not actually there, to save processing power) and rails being a special element. The automated version of farming could be slower than manual farming and could require heavy maintenance (like a starship) to keep it running at optimal levels

Aside from automation, there is also the matter of crop habitability, where crops from a desert planet could require additional elements nearby to provide the correct environment for growth on another biome (such as an ice planet). This might also be required if the farm is underground (no natural light) or in space (no large ecosystem)

Why do you need a protection bubble when you can just have a massive shield generator that makes it near impossible for raiders to damage you? You could even have massive solar panels to help with fuel economy. If it is a nomad fleet (like the migrant fleet from Mass Effect) then NQ could add in Fortress Shields that creates a shield around multiple ships (the way that would work is a somewhat different discussion)

The way that would work is Youtuber/media outlet makes a list of questions/topics that they would like to make a video on. Youtuber sends this to one of the community managers (who may or may not also have other jobs), who then relays this to the correct people. Youtuber receives answers (even if they are 'idk') and then makes a video. The problem for the devs though is that no one is doing regular DU videos, therefore they don't know who would work (in return, I say challenge accepted) and that it may annoy some of the dev team who just want to get on with work. It also has the potential to backfire due to either the CM or the youtuber misinterpreting things and the general flux of pre-alpha/alpha.

P.S. To anyone from NQ reading this, I am willing to be your voice.

I would say that they don't take a cut of sub money, but instead take a predetermined amount of money to keep it on the store page. Need to ask CCP about that
