  1. Yesterday, while playing the MU minigame running around 30km to harvest the calibration throw-outs, I was thinking of visiting the forum and checking the climate of the players posting here. I remembered today and did so. To my surprise the wipe discussion hit the halls again. What a shock ran through my veines ! BUT THEN ... Its hard to confess, but the more I think about that WIPE the more I start to like that idea. That would be my way to - stop playing, stop thinking, planning, dreaming - any longer about DU. No more hours and hours and HOURS of scanning one planet after another with no success for anything. No more pressure to do anything for growth. No more questionmarks for things I cant lookup somewhere. All that gone - with just that one little simple WIPE. As a Ruby-Founder my word does not count much, since no sub needed. So, I wouldn't be a big loss for NQ anyways. I'm thankful for DU, I enjoyed it much with my friends. Thinking back to the days on Sanctuary learning how to crash. It was a good time. Really. Thanks for all your writings guys. Did "enjoy" to read through.
  2. There were to many drastic changes already. I wish NQ is doing some good brainstorm before the next surprise hits the community. So many places near to my base have been given up after the last changes. I'm very concerned. Friends all gone. I have just one small but nice base on one tile. Spending more then 500kk for all my schematics - dug all out myself by hand. If NQ definitely want me to quit as well, then just wipe all that shit and I'm done. I would see it as a modern way of decommissioning. ... just my words..
  3. thanks .. .. sounds like there is no big issue then - except for ships bought on the market mentioned by some in this thread
  4. so, stacking does not mean to attach lets say a space-break in front of a space-engine ? I have often done that and sometimes those breaks turned red .. but they still worked what about a picture illustrating the stumbling block to make it more obvious to us ?
  5. I have difficulties to understand all the coming changes and what they mean to me personally. The really weird thing to me is that the very natural cosmic shape is a sphere - the one in DU though is a cube - that's why the PVP ships all ended up in such a strange shape including the quoted honeycomb protection. But now ... there's adjustable shields (helping to justify other weapon-setups maybe), includes that new CoreCombatStress - BUT honeycomb protection has no value anymore ? Means naked Ships instead of Cubes I guess. Well, I just hope NQ is doing the right changes. For me this is all a bit overwhelming.
  6. rolling dice ... remember me to LotRO- looting for hours for crafting 5 rings - with a chance of 47% to get a crit using scrolls and whatnot- and getting ... NONE while some lucky bastards made like 4 out of those 5 with the chance of 23% - spending not half of my time I personally don't like to roll the dice
  7. hmmm... this needs a ship with 10 L containers to haul a big vessel I'd say, except you fly couple times and on arrival/landing - how much time do you have until the PVPlers sitting on stage 5 for "your" fresh scanned roid will visit you ? the time is not given to dig such a big hole I'm not convinced - the only thing what makes sense is going there some days after the announcement because the PVP aspect there has cooled down
  8. You shouldn't mix this up. That was a total different discussion. And still, if you want to scan an Asteroid you have to take the expensive equipment into space to track it down - nothing has changed on that. In case of PVP area you can loose 10 times more that you can win.
  9. I'm excited about the progress. Especially when it comes to Asteorid gameplay. What I'd like to see is a balance within PVP/Asteroid Gameplay giving me the reason to risk my new Asteroid-Ship out in the belts searching for some ore I don't have. My personal equation is : if the chance% to get some ("Cobalt or Gold" * "the chance% to survive gonna get it" *100) < 5000 - I'm absolutely not interested to your new gameplay. Of course 10000 would be the optimum for me but I'm fine if its half of that. Currently, as it is now, the quotation equals something like 100 ? We need an Asteroid belt in which you have to be found first before shot down. In that belt there is much more then 3 boulders having rares visible/trackable for anyone from scratch far far away. You have to be there to scan them. That would be cool. I'm definitely not consider myself to be the cannonfodder for others to enjoy the game. But I'm hopeful the progress progresses for the good balance THANKS!
  10. ohyea, even if I like to see this great works from other players - the Marketplaces are spammed to much - I'd love to see them cleared !!!
  11. I like it. Things I'd like to see is a trivial help for starters. Including all stumblestones. Not for me but for the new players. I looked up the "Dual Universe Lua Scripting" - I'm missing examples. The pure syntax is nice but snipplets/examples would help a lot. I dont like the Fandom thingsbums .. its not DU .. its other things causing a click orgy to not needed info. Apart of that - THANKS.
  12. When the schematics hit the game in 0.23 I was really mad, almost quitted the game. The other 3 of my buddies only crafted nice things but didn't dig or do any industries - while I loved the industrial game play. I'm not sure if 35 kk is enough for all the T1 but probably it is. Meantime I've spend ~400 kk+ for all my schematics and I say it was only possible because I already had some territory scanners. And I had the passion to spend the time to dig. I'm not into mega-industries things, I just wanted to craft almost all I need my self. That's why I hate the Idea for wiping the game. The problem is that new players have a hard time to get that far to start scanning for good spots. It's not fair to them. Also they have a hard start to learn the game because they have to buy anything to try out the basics. This is the ONLY problem with schematics I see. Anyone from pre-0.23 can do anything - same way I did. It wasn't easy, often boring, but that's what grinding is in any game.
  13. not sure if I understand this correctly, but does this mean that voxels on a ship do not add any resistance to weapon impacts any longer ? ..if so what are the statistics on specific materials for, the resistance values at example ? thanks for clarifying
  14. I'm sharing my thoughts with @Atmosph3rik that the introduction of Asteroids are a preshot of future gameplay and is subject to change over time. So for now, lets swallow the fact that Asteroids are for well organized PVP groups for the moment. Lets wait for the fair "balance" which hopefully will come soon.
  15. LOL, I live it ! great idea and beautiful work ! I've seen this yellow Submarine on Reddit and I loved it - gonna buy one
  16. The Game is no more crashing when opening the Inventory since the last Patch, great work NQ.
  17. right ! I personally don't like to fly the "ugly PVP cube" just because its the ideal. But still it seems the best choice for PVP. However, you either prepare yourself for PVP or you prepare for running away. A solo Miner will go for option 2 I guess. So, if I play 2 days (2x 5h) to build up my ship for mining purposes and I loose my ship to the cubes waiting for bait, I'm TOTALLY FINE even if I couldn't return anything from my trip. But if I have to invest a week for that, e.g. 5x 5h to grind/build/prepare that trip and my chance to return my investment is less then 20%, the happiness sinks to zero. That's why I think the balance is so important. I'm not attracted to Asteroid mining at the current state because as it is, its just a big loss to the MUARHARHAR gangbangs. But there is the chance to add some outer rim belts with little boulders for the solo Players. Both, the rocks and the lonely wolfes are hard to find and far away to install the win/win for both parties.
  18. i just started the DSAT again to check the output. So this is the picture. Does anyone can tell more precise details to what's called "milestone" ? Is "get within 10km of the pos. to scan it" not implying to scan the Asteroid a second time using DSAT in the range of 10 km ? It would change a lot if you're right @Knight-Sevy edit: found the answer myself and until anything on this has changed I thing I'm right with my assumption. You have to travel 6 times using your DSAT to get the boulder in front of you IF you want to find it yourself. In the PVP area you have to risk loosing your 3kk ship plus your 25kk DSAT. here's a good video explaining the process, thanks to RobRantz for this !
  19. ahh it was YOU .. thank you sir .. appreciate it ! I'm sure of one thing - if PVP means waiting for the fancy non-aggro miners to give them a rectal infeed - instead of "ugly PVP cubes" looking for "ugly PVP cubes" - the game will find its face landing quicker then you reloading the Railgun .. make ore available to anyone, but make PVP areas important & more attractive is the solution
  20. Until now i only used the DSAT once in stage "one" - and stage "two" told me to scan again when in 10km range of that asteroid ¿? Apart of that, known boulders can be harvested - that I knew. But scanning new ones was the new Gameplay to me I wanted to try out. I probably misunderstood the mechanics if you say there is no scanner in PVP area needed any longer. I apologize and will have closer look.
  21. I see you're not focused on your personal need/loss whatever. You have just valid concerns about a functional fair and healthy game. Thats honorable. With all my respect @le_souriceau I'm probably to much egoistic about the time I could loose, I admit. The evolution of DU was not optimal. Many things could have been avoided. On the other hand NQ could never identify them all without a cristal ball.
  22. this is true my friend, and its a sum everyone can invest if he wants the glossy ore out there ! ... but you missed something - you need an Asteroid scanner and *uuuppps* it costs 10 times of what your 3kk vessel costs if you catch miner, blow em up, take their ship and sell the DSAT on the marked, you will be a very wealthy guy very quickly until the FUBAR-ones don't like to loose their 30-40 Millions ships to the PVP Gameplay constantly. Even though - I fully understand the PVP guys. They didn't play that much but screaming for PVP. Its now time for them to jerk off. I'm glad for them. I just hope for a good balance and with this I hope for good ideas. And I'm optimistic there because only the optimum can survive in the gaming sector. If there is just PVP left in the game its like Africa with only lions. And the previous chickens (all eaten up by the lions) play the next Landwirtschaftssimulator. :P
  23. 1) yes 2) no, but its also not realistic with the huge advert campaign 3) it still can be because of its unique character 4) no* 5) yes, they like to have the same cards * there is a unknown number of gamers being hocked by such games (space games in general) - but those who are fancy for space/build/survive games and are ready to play 3h a day already have an idea about DU (and SpaceEngineers and Empyrion and StarCitizen and whatnot). My guess is that 50-70% of those potential players already did something in DU. The playerbase will not tripple on release, not even double. Plus many of those newcomers will not be hooked in the same extend as the vets. At the end you probably have a tiny win on subs but I honestly dont guess so. Some of the newcomers finally quit as well and we're there again but without what we ever did before. All the new casual players will not be there for long because the game demands more then a casual player. Release will be critical in both ways, getting new players vs loosing old ones. Friends of mine made nice buildings and vessels and can take them into the wiped env. via BP. There is not a big loss on their side. They not even loose their Pixelsalad-Librarys. I was more the one for the crafting and eventually ran for ore hardly to build all the parts and later on gaining money for the schematics. There must be a well thought workaround to attract new ppl and keep the vets. There is no question. A wipe in my case will kill at least ~800h for me. Knowing of a wipe will make anyone who spend time especially after 0.23 looking like a donkey. I'm back to SE/ED/Empyrion or ARK another xhundred hours but not DU because (and thats very important) most of the time I have invested to get somewhere .... was not permanently fun and satisfying my brain, just necessary. And thats different in the other games taking so much time.
