  1. from IQ to NQ

    .. is a bit overbearing

no doubt they are skilled programmers but the lack of avoiding the previous problems and the obvious inability to monitor those problems with a solid "role back individual data" plan - is not far beyond a Banana skin in regards to "IQ"

the word popping up in my mind, to describe the damage to the game and any possible playerbase-future is:     irreversible

It worked with the wipe -- look at how many, myself included, said they wouldn't play after the wipe but still did anyway.

I wouldn't take this for a given thing. In my case its the opposite including those friends I had in close contact. There are just memories ... and some pictures.

but I'm proudly chapeaux to ourself, the players, now knowing that:

We are named the community, "driving" the content creation with their space mmo voxel engine. Something.

    ..this obviously was true.

    .. and cool

NQ is now on the rails to establish a virtual world, accessible via http, in which you can build and meet socially - and maybe also fly to the moon for a walk - psssssst: in your own ship !

Even with the ignorance and silence I constantly felt from NQ - I wish them the best. The light I've once seen in this game has been turned off unfortunately. And still I hang around here in the forums following the wrestle with NQ for DUGame going to die if they don't act freaking smart now.

    I think, I feel NQ's intention.

but only because they had to do something about the server load and its a pretty simple system

There are tons of good ideas in these forums - even some concerning the server-load long term to help them keep the costs down.

But whatever NQ does is totally weird, if the honest intention of NQ is to keep the game alive.

Bring back classic mining and fill those damn holes after 1-2 month if nobody was there again.

Make some energy limitation PER account to reduce to much load from factories. So the Multiboxer still have a reason to multibox for what they're happy to pay.

There's multiple formula which might work perfectly for DU. But NQ just cant or wont find them.

The rat race discussed on the topic is just an UNBELIEVEABLE thing to me. Ridiculous.

I really blame NQ to let the game die, obviously. I'm not playing the game since release because I'm not fancy to loose all my progress again. And this will happen for sure, somehow.

We should scrap mining units a good system would be if you could explore new planets  for higher tier mine in the ground  with both ships and by hand  😀 lol  and the planets would regenerate over time so you don’t have everlasting holes and tunnels

    absolutely YES

It is very clear, keeping all the data from every hole once dug out is just insane. Data for nothing but a reality patch.

Since there isn't many planets anyways, why not re"seed" some of the "didn't touched tiles since 3 months". Who cares ? Immersion ? Well .. I'll take it for the sake to have something I can chew on. With a little addon to a very smart [NQ well thought out and brainstormed - plus hard and fair calculated] energy-management, to adjust excessive industry-breakouts - I'd be so happy with anything. Schematics then easily can go to the bin and I can go and dig my holes.

  5. I always return here and read the forums. Daily almost. I realized some time ago that something is wrong with me.

Obviously, its because of Dualuniverse - the game - and the fact that I loved to play it and I still like to play it !

But I'm missing that bloody underground mining game. Finding ore using the scanner and these things - I always felt alive, hungry and satisfied when successfully finding and winning the good oresOMG, like some of you too, I was a freaking mole.

My friends did the shiny part. Building tons of things, which are there no more.

I did the digging and the industry, but that's as well .. there no more.

What the game has become to me, totally cut off the cord.

Steam does not look so good. Its sad, I really wished NQ can do a wealthy restart. I'm sorry for that.

My prediction for "the Future of DualUniverse" is very bad, to answer the thread.

If the game was free to play I don't think many would criticise so much as you're not paying for it along the way - but to pay subscription at £10.49

ohh, I think they would complain as well, because you also have to bring in time not just the money

I have that kind of "free to play" you're looking for, but it hasn't such a big meaning to me considering all the time to invest for a bit more then a... fart in the void

I do read from some, you possibly need to scan 50 tiles to get a T2 node ! Now that's insane and definitely would make me terribly mad. Really mad. Really really mad.

"free to play" - can not be the solution for NQ *IMO

I much more believe in a "reward/time=motivation" ratio failure to reanimate the game

    .. at least for me

  7. was great to read here, lots of the good voices here in the forums ! Looks like there aren't ..  that many any .. more .. anyway

I really was too lazy to restart DU - or much more to invest my time again, so I'm really glad to get some impressions from you guys still playing and trying hardly not to starve !

With respect for your courage and engagement giving it a retry. I think I cant.

hard to think of all the grind to do again - and now after the restart even harder

so sometimes I feel bad not to play DU, but right now, it just feels to be the better choice

I'll just keep that carpet and some pottery in memory, of what this Game to me once was

  8. No need to sub in my case - but the only thing I did so far was to settle my out-of-the-box base and started to ask myself WHAT NOW ?

I'm totally lost and without a spark of motivation. But hey, I got a carpet !

Well, I like to dig for some reason - time to go back to DigDug then.

  9. @Archaegeo

Thank you very much for all your work.

I've used your script and I think it was FANTASTIC

I'm sad you're done with it, but I fully understand.

You gave me the controls, I never could code myself (and I say this as someone who cracked games in the early days using assembler)

My biggest RESPECT to you and the guys with you for what you have created.

    Lots of respect ..

    a lot .. hell a lot

    sincerely

    THANK YOU

Sorry for people who want play industrial gameplay and who want to stay sit down in their industries and just watch machines running all the time. This is not a gameplay. If you want this, go satisfactory and leave DU. You're place isnt here !
Personaly, i really like the update.

sorry you, Kanamechan - especially since you like the update which I think is cool because very contrary to the majority

BUT -> I dont think it is okey to raise judgements at other players and tell them, with other impressions then yours, to LEAVE DU and play some other shit. Most of us are adults, so please avoid such kindergardenslang. Makes me so aggro.

You could've done WAY BETTER by getting the long awaited power system up, that way no matter whether you had one or a hundred accounts, you would still be limited to how much power you could generate or extract from the tile and there you go, problem of mega factories completely solved.

Originally the Schematics have been introduced to free up some Server resources I guess. So I was not sure if a limitation of energy could help to limit excessive industry builds to work against it. I just hope this is still considered instead of those one-run schematics. It also would make a lot of sense for the market-system because some do this, some do other products, none does them all.

I still believe that could have solved a lot of issues, if well thought out. It will never be possible to make anyone happy that's for sure.

  12. 1 hour ago, Hazaatan said:

The schematics are gone on release.  The last letter confirms it.

and this will be the final bullet if they have no smart counter measurement against uncontrolled growing massive factories !

maybe its their intention to get back all the players who didn't stand the grind to setup the factories again

I'm not expecting many to return or even get knowledge of that change

I'm not judging you on your alcohol intake (yes I am)... 😉 But how much you spend depends on how much you earn, how much time/effort you spend on something, and how much you value it.

I'm now a bit confused my idealistic DUFriend. My english isn't the best I have to admit. So let me sort some words. I'm fully on your side. You possibly just didn't get em the way I've expressed myself, namely in a positive sense for ppl like you - spending so much.

Meantime you've spend more then me obviously without having one char @livetime. And that's what I respect. Supporting the dream NQ once announced to us, the SciFi Nerds we are.

From who did you get that info with the alcohol ?

Not that it isn't true, but I never outed myself - me wonders.

In the hope these words addresses the my correct standpoint @Cergorach

You - having all those chars running - are one of the MOST affected players and I'm fully on YOUR side.

I'm only on one char plus one beta-key I've spend to one of my friends ..

  14. 39 minutes ago, Hazaatan said:

    Your move.

I'm not fingerpointing. And I'm in the mid 50 if that helps.

But there are some who played much longer and payed much more - the math is simple, they'll loose a lot - and you not that much.

For the game, a full wipe possibly attracts more players you're right - but also respect the math for those who've spend much more cash and time then ppl like you, who threw the towel long time ago.

BTW.: I'll only loose time with my pledgelevel - but I fully respect those running more the one account because this finally also helped NQ to this point where we're now.

So, a WIPE is okey for me - but at least keep the TP because it stands in a direct proportion of what anyone has spend.

  15. Keeping the TP is a must thing.

All the talent points are a very exponential thing when it comes to higher levels, still only giving minor benefits but taking so much longer. So to say, a new player can catch up to a vet within a year by only missing the last 5% of whatever. It shouldn't be the deal-breaker IMO.

And I wonder, if NQ would divide the total spend money from each account by 100 and taking this as a factor for voting for/against the TP wipe discussion - what the picture would be. I guess all those calling for the TP wipe would be not visible on the chart, not even if you scale it with a decimal logarithm.

Some calling for fairness, which is creditable, but didn't spend their dough in the beta-time.

And for those, it isn't really a very idealistic behaviour to depreciate the others who payed.

We are not going to see "huge" game changing releases post launch

sadly but true - balancing things like that should be there already

    33 minutes ago, CyberDay said:

get "energy" from alts and people in their group would produce everything, and would undercut everyone else's pricing due to "free" ore coming in from those same alts and group members

fair, if members spend their power to the org, its okey if the org can do more then the lonely wolf

and also fair if someone pays multiple subs to be able to do more then another "single"player

but you're right - that's all not gonna happen :\

I'm not sure it will really help with my specific point of giving smaller players a way to compete

    I think it will

its probably difficult to check what's requested on the market - and sometimes players have to adapt and add some fabricators to produce something else - but there's a chance to sell something if big players simply wont produce all themselves because they loose time
