The beauty of what DU is trying to become is that you can already do this. Not in the sense that there is a ingame mechanic to manage and organize this, but more that the game will allow you to do it if you want.

You can create a whole league inside DU that you can govern and operate. If you want to run a PvP Area or deathmatch system, create some location on planets and then market your area as a PvP ground that is organised and run like ingame E-Sport kind of thing.

You could charge people to watch, participate and basically do anything you want. You just have to create it.

This is the basis of what they are trying to do with Emergent Game Play, allow the player to do whatever they feel like doing.

If you did make this in game i would probably give it a good a few times

Surely with time, more translations will become available. Currently, the largest playerbase speaks English, and French translation is also provided (because NQ is based in France). Another huge portion of the potential playerbase is Spanish-speaking of course, so I feel that Spanish will be high up on the list of translation priorities.

Also in the future, if I were you, I would not post thread titles that are all-caps and/or append multiple exclamation marks to the end of it. Helps to stay classy

I do not believe this game will have a single player mode, its intended to be a single universe across multiple sever shards. Similar to EV.E online.

In order to preserve a single art direction they do not want to allow players to upload any 3'd models, or other objects not created by the developers.

They are allowing some flexibility in the way things work, however I do want to add that altering any mechanics or creating an automated script to fly the ship will not be possible.

Depending on the systems they give us access to though. You could probably make doors open and close on their own, a control unit for sorting inventory items,... possibly and I say possibly make a railroad and have a car on it that moves on a rail or track when people get inside.

We still dont know if things like wheels will exist and so forth, though I intend to ask them for such.

Overall though, no this game is intended to be a massive multiplayer experience and they do not have plans for game changing mods.

If they allow "mod" support it would probably be more like other MMO's which allow for user interface changes, damage meters, or non gameplay altering things. For now I can tell you this simply isn't a goal of theirs to implement right now.

There has been confirmed some survival aspects of the game, but we don't know what they are yet. It could be simply don't remove your helmet in space (confirmed to not be healthy) or it could be that you need to eat three meals a day and have exercise.

At this point we don't know very much about the very fine tuning of the game and know more about the overall fundamentals of it, like we can build ships out of voxels, there will be thrusters, that kind of information.

I do believe that i read about farming, but i can't remember if it was player written or Nyz written. But for a game this size it would be nice to have farming as a way of making both money and sustaining your ship and your crew

That's four questions... a few is usually considered three .. naughty... haha

But to try and answer your questions:

    1) PC is the priority at the moment, consoles i don't think are planned and other OS's like linux and mac are a wait to see situation because i don't think we know.

    2) Camera will be locked for the most part in first person to help immersion in the game. There will be cameras though so you can view outside your ship while flying using them so if you want to have a external view of something you can set up a camera where you would like it. Third person i think is only planned depending on kickstarter goals and general community opinions.

    3) Multicrew systems we don't 100% know, but we all assume that the roles you play in multicrew ships will be down to your own choosing. If you want a ship with 6 engine rooms, build 6 engine rooms where you can have 6 people working. We don't know the indepths of the elements yet so we don't know what the true story behind any multicrew actions would be. It has been stated though that there will be advantages to having multiperson crews.
EDIT: I did have a quick spy around and found this link: https://devblog.dualthegame.com/2015/01/30/multiplayer-ship-crew/

Your right about DU being a collective hive of all the other space games out today, and do you know what the nice thing about it is.. That's just the things we know about currently. Think of all the wonderful things that the devs have planned for the long run or the things they have done but havn't even mentioned about.

Oh DU will be incredible i think, and i can't wait to see what everyone makes of it

This also, I mean what natural sink could there be when the only NPC we know of is most likely a AI in the starting Arkships..... wait a tick.... what if we mine the currency such as 'gold' for a example and we have to use this gold to build some of our machines and such. That would give us both the way to get currency and the sink that it will go into. Also would give us a reason to build big-ass machines to dig into the earth looking for more of it all the time. Purpose to leave a planet when it's run dry and not just stay in one place..

I still wonder what the currency is thought and what connection it has to what the players plan on doing.

I tried to watch that but both the fact that he undersold DU's single shard gameplay and that I couldn't hear the word 'Guur' instead of 'Go' again i decided to stop watching.

I don't understand how people could compare this to NMS though, this is NMS but has all the point that NMS didn't have added into it and made better.

    Potentially infinite Universe - Check
Countless Planets - Check (Same as NMS already)
Countless other players in the same area - Check
    Limitless construction ability - Check

i could list a bunch more but you get the point, i think DU will blow NMS out of the water when it comes out.

Interesting. Currently the creator of VoxelFarm (otherwise known as the EverQuest:Next engine), is trying to tackle this very problem:

Given that in Dual every struct is it's own clipmap, I'd imagine they have already built the game to tackle this difficulty, and since they are using procedural world generation, having the location as a function of time should be possible.

The other part of the question is... Do they want this, and to what extent. In Kerbal Space Program even something as a randevu with a space station in orbit is an art, and for the average player most trips in the star system are only plausible because of the ability to accelerate time (I don't know about you but if they needed supplies my Kerbels would have died long ago...More then they usually do). Now, this is an MMO, so making piloting difficult isn't necessarily bad, it just means most of us will be reliant on someone else doing it. Perhaps f=m*a can work in the game favor as a balancing mechanism, making piloting smaller ships easier but larger heavier ships would naturally become more dependent on circular momentum to stay in orbit and reach their destinations, depending on how thrust and different engine types and their energy consumption would scale. Another way of doing it is cost-effectiveness: You could have anti-gravity for those playing without, but the energy consumption relatively to the mass it cancels out could scale exponentially. This would also help explain why the arkships have big empty propellant tanks for you to roam: Those beasts were thrusting with good ol' fashioned rocketry.

norab7 got a reaction from Zen001 in Procedural Generation
The planets are made from the same voxels as what your ships will be made of, giving you the same destructibility that you will have on any of your ships. The planets however will be procedurally generated, given that there is a suspected infinite amount of planets that you can visit from Alioth, having the devs create each and everyone one would be a nightmare

So to answer your question, the universe will be infinite and the planets will created with on point manipulation/destruction procedurally and have different biomes that you can visit. However there has been notes of the centres of planets being off limits.

The way they are able to do this without lag is by allocating server performance to the areas that need it most, so if there is only 1 person in a solar system that solar system will not get a solar system size portion of the server, but if there is 10,000 people in one building that building itself will get a solar system size portion of the server just to run the building spreading out from there to the surround area.

I don't know if i answered your question correctly, but there is a bunch of information in a DevBlog about some of this and on the forums

This is almost the exact feeling I have towards the likes of Dayz ect. I just don't see the point in wandering around gathering when theres nothing to build/do with the things you have other than basic survivaly things.

No Mans Sky shot itself in the foot straight away with the way it's handled the multiplayer side of things.. Or the way it hasn't handled it. No Multiplayer just turned me from excited to bored in an instant.

    This ^

But i'd like to add to the RP side of things here.

If you want to RP a escort mission and don't want to get attacked by pirates or other players then you will have to 'RP a Protection Service'. You will have to sort out the aspect of getting someone or a group of people to follow your escort to and from it's destination and protect it in case of other players.

In my mind the whole game is one big RP game.

The players need to decide the rules, the players need to make the cities, the players need to design the ships, the players almost make up/ design everything but the planets and Arkships.

If you really really don't want people to attack you when you are RP'ing a escort mission, or any RP event for that matter, then you can create you own game laws to account for this. The only thing is you will need to back up your law with punishments ect like real world laws creating a whole level of politics to your RP now.

However like 'DD' said, if you want a totally 'free to RP as you like' situation without worrying about other players i'm afraid you might be out of luck. The only restricted PvP area that we know about is the starting Arkship that you spawn on (and potentially Alien Ruins, but that's not confirmed) and i hope it stays that way.

I'm all for RP, but RP that is created through the systems in place using the emergent gameplay idea of Laws and Politics ect. any dedicated system would be immersion breaking for me.
