I agree, that should end up being the case. People will end up sticking to what they know best and using the services of other skilled players to progress in the meantime.

For a diverse society & economy with heirarchy systems that make sense (and a way more fun/submerged experience) a hundred with a few talents each is a lot more promising than a few with a hundred talents. That's what I'm excited about, the singular importance of each and every player (or groups of individuals contributing) in one universe.

To be honest, I have been working on something for a while, just playing around with the concept for now.
Don't want to release it to the public until I've determined whether or not it's worth releasing & it's in final stages.

Until I'm there, I just want to get an idea of what people are excited about doing to move forward financially & drive the in-game economy.

    - Officer (To fight the baddies)
    - Ship builder/designer (If someone       doesn't want to build or needs help)
    - Miner (Gathers materials)
    - Hunter/ Farmer (If they decide to add hunger)
    - Boss (Company, city, space station exc)
    - Builder (Basically a construction worker)
    - Architect (This can be a cool one)

Those are all my ideas for now...

My view or suggestion in regards to releasing something early or refined:

It can make or break a group or define a brand when it is revealed at the right time or rather refined.

It can have a notable impact on the rest of the community, whether org seekers or others already in groups. I remember when we posted a refined thread, the initial feedback was good, and there wasn't much going on back then.

Conversely, posting too early or rather unfinished content might in most cases not grant you any flowers. Of course it depends and you might still attract people, but first impressions count.

Maybe I am a bit spoiled, but I see some organization promotion threads with just a few meagre lines and not much info and I immediately find it less than lucrative.

You don't have to be a graphic artist or movie maker to create a decent thread with the for tools already at your disposal.

In short,  the most recent care and maybe structure (and refined content) you add, the more it pays off on an abstract and likely real level.

It's a bit like with games. We want them done and refined for a "full release"

Job titles will vary and likely be practical.
Services will be somewhat wide, but not too much. We want to do a few things, but not everything. Can't focus on everything with a smaller team anyway.

Compensation is considered; for our main project, it is possible. For our police side project, we strongly aim for in-game compensation on a regular basis ("salary")  if viable and possible. Might depend on whether we are integrated into city funding and taxes or not. Those working in the main project and beyond will be compensated with real money depending on their position or merit.

Marketing is always considered. From feedback obtained over years, it appears we have a unique approach to marketing or at least the possibility to reach many people if we truly must and pour our efforts into it.

    As for skills

I humbly believe the particular skills (and approaches) I obtained over the years will provide an advantage. Not because I like to dream about it but because it has gotten us and me into good positions in the past. So far it seemed to work and I doubt it will change completely. As for the last question, not counting ranks:

    Both.

I was wondering if you, perhaps between the lines, we're looking for inspiration in finding or selecting certain job titles for your own current or future endeavors. Could that be the case?

It would, at the very least, be a side effect for readers as soon as people share their "titles".

Oh that's right huh I guess it wouldn't be ready by alpha, that would be pretty dope though. If ever there was a game to play with a VR headset it'd be dual universe.

And hopefully when it is possible there's more accessibility for combat to make quick defensive/offensive moves. Can't wait dude.

If you go back into the Dev blog (way back, one of the first posts) it was mentioned that the game was being designed with VR in mind (mainly a first-person-only perspective).

Although that design decision was clarified in several interviews with JC Baillie, that they were looking into ways to allow 3rd person perspective through the use of "drones" that follow players around.

It's likely we won't see VR support in Alpha, but I'd like to be proven wrong on that.

I think what is more important is how a first-person-only perspective is going to affect the way people play the game and how combat plays out in space.

If you don't mind 4K in 60 FPS and a little early software you can find one headset pretty inexpensively [(€339,63) with headphones] here. Ships to most countries.

Would be awesome to see DU in VR!

Dual Universe seems to be coming to an Alpha release just as the Oculus, HTC Vive and similar Virtual Reality headsets are becoming more and more popular, so I'd like to discuss what that capability could mean for organizations and the individual in DU as far as exploration, building, combat, etc. and how one might gain advantages or come to a disadvantage over the course of the Alpha, Beta and obviously through the final release. For example, I think building, using the two handheld units that go along with the HTC Vive (given you're able to afford the 700$ price tag) could mean incredible things not only for the overall experience of building but the efficiency as well. Please leave a comment with what you look forward to doing in DU with whichever VR headset you choose to utilize in-game.

I think tab-targeting and VR are great together. It's much easier to just look at things to select them.

    Hey Guys!

Spent a bit of time on SE designing it!

It is designed to be a small atmo/space escort and could be retrofitted as a get in/out fighter during war

ODS Ganymede, prototype and lead ship of the Ganymede Class Assault Frigate, operating ahead flank propulsion during mobility trials near the Haedus Terminal shipyards, Alioth system. In concert are a flight of Valgard Class space superiority fighters, tasked with monitoring the test and gathering telemetry for later analysis. The trial was a success, and the Ganymede Class went on to become a mainstay sub-capital combat ship within several ODY affiliated entities. The vessel represented a significant evolution of compact, lightweight structural design and armor doctrine

Here is my submission. This was a lot of fun to make, and my first Blender project so I'm glad this contest gave me an excuse to learn it.
Credit to Sgt.Toothpaste for helping me out by making the particle effects for the engine trails and adding a colorful description.

So far: four large landing docks for large fleets of ships, public council chambers with seating for thousands, accessable via jetpack or elevator from the bottom where the marketplace will most likely be. Near the top of the inside of the Galactus, the council chambers can become private via forcefield bubble, large shield etc., detacheable coliseum on top with seating for thousands of people, for settling personal disputes, hosting sports, games etc.

To be: about 4000 concealed private ports for passengers connected to their quarters (there's space for far more), rooms within coliseum for fighters, teams etc. More detailed council chambers with added utility within the council's stage as well as screens for viewing the proceedings on every floor of the citizen's viewing area except for the bottom and closest, which will be for government officials and very important figures. Still working on a cockpit separately along with boosters engines engine rooms and blah blah. This design will allow for incredible functionality as well, don't want to give too many details on what I'm thinking but let's say it will become quite mobile quite fast. Might lose the elevator. Also might have another layer or two added for higher population, durability, storage or whatevs. Let me know what chall think.
