Side note, jettesoning cargo is something you'd see if a real pirate was on your @SS. Instead of stopping players from doing it, with items being deleted.... drop the items as a lootable container behind the ship to be used as a decoy/dropping weight. Pirates can then double back for the package. Add more gameplay, don't restrict it further... I am so tired of yall restricting gameplay, so much I could / did in Beta can no longer do on the launch game because of that mentality.

I absolutely agree with this. Replace "no" with "yes, and"

How is any of that NQ's fault? We literally do have "a protection system against legates just taking everything," it's called RDMS and not giving perms to dishonest people.

To be fair, you can't stop the superlegate from taking everything that belongs to the org. Can you stop a regular legate? I doubt it. You do need to be careful about who you give rights too of course. Where NQ is a fault here is that they consider scamming to be valid game play. Bad choice IMO.

Likewise. I didn't sub for pets, back at the end of Alpha. I subbed in the hope of dropships and boarding actions (AvA) and TW... Looks very like I'd lose my bet except I also subbed for "fun with friends" and I got some of that...

Pets were always quaternary attractions. I wish they'd focus on the big promises.

Yeah, I didn't sub for pets either, but one of the ones I have is pretty cute (the one with flapping wings and XXXS AGG pulsors). The other one not so much.

so there IS a replace and recycle function in the game?

It would indeed be ridiculously annoying after a total MP6 wipeout if you had to manually replace broken parts in a build and then manually recycle each item, one at a time.

there’s no way NQ would implement something as half-arsed as that, surely, after months of waiting for any new features to emerge.

will check the recycle tool when I next play.

The regular replace element (RMB->Advanced->Replace) also recycles the replaced element. Nothing in the UI prompts tells you that, but it does happen.

If you have a pet as part of your backer package it can be accessed and deployed via the Novean Overview. The Novean Overview can be accessed in game by hitting the "P" key.

An overview of what is to be received with this update with the different backer packs can be found in the Update 1.1 deployment thread here: https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/25649-update-11-is-here-new-pets-new-skins-new-building-tools/

    Hope this information helps!

Oh, I do have pets. I just didn't see them on the rewards notification and didn't know how to access them.

    Thanks.

  6. Pets are in game now, right? I think I saw one... but I don't have one, which I think I should have. STUs all over again?

Anyone else missing a pet? Is this a known bug? Did I just miss it somewhere?

  7. I just repaired a crashed ship using replace with recycle. Two clicks for each element was a bit annoying but not nearly as bad as holding down the the LMB for 10 minutes per element to repair them. And I was able to sell some parts to help with the cost. It's certainly an adequate first implementation.

I personally have several friends who would play this game just to play it like a flight simulator. With a better mission system and missions that are different based on your location, HOTAS support could pull players from other HOTAS-supporting space games I shall not name (and similarly have some notorious reputations).

I play all the space games and DU's flight model has spoiled me. I think its one of the best aspects of this game, and I think it's heavily undersold in the promo material. Realistic space flight is almost unheard-of in this genre. Please consider moving HOTAS support up the list of priorities! I guarantee it is a feature that will grab players on its own (and ones who don't care about amassing assets or creating excessive data load)

    Completely agree.

Asked for this in 2018. Don’t hold your breath.

Yep. Completely agree with this too.

In the end Player missions should take over and it would be preferable to skip npc missions and add (npc) bonusses to player missions sort of speak aphilia adds some cash per player run misson as reward.

Pure player missions will never take over. They don't pay enough to be worth doing and the risk is unacceptable out of the sz. They also are deflationary.

I suppose if Aphelia is buffing the payout to 5x the collateral (same as Aphelia missions), they would be worth doing, although I still wouldn't do them out of the sz. An Aphelia bonus also solves the deflation issue.

The fight you are referring to appears to be the fleet fight that took place on a station with a shield planted by Lodestar.

The server died before the fight really entered an interesting phase. The losses are more than limited compared to the number of ships involved.

It's not just a mining ope gone wrong. But a fleets who to try to destroy / defend a station.

What my friend said was that they caught Legion mining and asteroid and destroyed them. idk. I wasn't there.

  11. I'm intentionally avoiding any need for anything above T1 ore so I can still have fun flying around when we reach the point that all money making activities require PVP. No thanks. PVP has to be more fun and much lower risk before I'll go back to it.

  12. Yeah, NPC missions are my only in game income now. If they cut those, I'll go back to mining my own ore and flying ships I can craft in my nanocrafter.

With the exception of a few elements - lights, landing gear, warp drive - everything I've built since release requires only T1 ore precisely because I expected this would become necessary.

  13. Win or lose, combat in DU is not fun. (It was better before shields and common use of the remote control exploit, but even then it wasn't as fun as it should have been).

Combat is too risky. On average you will lose half the time and then you have a multimillion quanta rebuild cost before you can enter combat again... in an economy that's offers little opportunity to make those millions.

High tier weapons/radars etc. are too much better than low tier for low tier combat ships to be a realistic option. The decision to go to higher tier should be difficult because it's a lot more expensive for a marginal improvement, but instead, the improvement is so great as to be required.

Today I would like to highlight the issue related to section calculations on ships with a highlighting of the various topics that talk about it.

The community has been raising this issue for many months or years.

Despite the consensus that some things need to be done: Nothing has been done.

We have long been in a gloomy silence.

I don't mean to insult the NQ devs, I know they work hard.
We have only one culprit on the head within this studio who seems to deliberately block this subject with his only approval and let it be said: he has nothing to do with PvP.

We are in a voxel construction game!

WE NEED TO USE VOXELS ON OUR SHIPS.

Is it that hard to understand ?!

    IMG_20221109_225435.png

    Yeah, I think you're right.

I also think allowing the remote control trick where a gunner flies the ship from a remote control is a problem. It kills crewed ships... fighting as a crew was the only thing in DU PVP that was ever fun and now it's gone. And of course shields break crewed PVP also by making repair crew unnecessary.

I would like to see HP dependent on voxel build complexity. We're already evaluating complexity... just increase HP up to mid-complexity and reduce it above that. That will encourage interesting builds (no borg cubes).

So I just rely on the fact. The fact that these cores are in the public domain (we see them). The game engine processes them (there are no problems for players with falling through, displaying, etc.). All.
Everything else, as you correctly noted, is speculation. Including yours. And they look like an attempt to justify why this is not possible (just kidding).

    😉

There's a big difference between 100 or so XL static cores at the markets vs a few 1000 deployed by players. Also, it's entirely possible that areas of likely player concentration - like certain markets = have beefed up servers that would be too expensive to deploy everywhere. I would do that if I were building this game.
