  1. Both of those should be prevented by using defensive mechanics. Whether they be mines, sensors, explosives, etc. Not some arbitrary “you shalt not dig!”
  2. I just don’t understand why a TU makes it impossible for a person to dig. It’s probably the single most annoying game mechanic for me personally. There are defenses in place in DU, if you don’t want someone digging on your plot... use them! Safezones I can understand... Ah well, it’s still a pretty small gripe haha. At least we can use explosives or something, hopefully.
  3. Blue prints you’ve made are always saved. I can’t remember if a blueprint you buy is lumped into the same category. Quanta (the currency of DU) is also saved on death. The system is EXTREMELY forgiving imho.
  4. There shouldn’t be an arbitrary system in place to do most of this. Safezones are enough on that front. If you want policing, form an organization and keep an open ear to the larger organizations. That’s the whole point of civilization building :).
  5. 6. If bounty hunting is fun, people will do it even for minimal rewards. I’m sure NQ will come up with a fair system with little room for abuse.
  7. Sorry, forums were being weird on my phone ha.
  8. Hmm, I suppose it’s just opinion... but I don’t think a territory unit should protect all your resources. If you don’t have alterior protections in place (turrets, shields, barriers, etc)... an enemy should be able to dig those resources out. Making the territory units limited in depth would alleviate the concern of arbitrarily protected resources. I wouldn’t consider that broken whatsoever. Just because you have a base protecting your territory unit, doesn’t mean your resources below should be arbitrarily protected as well. From digging/mining of course, everyone knows you can use explosives and weaponry no matter what, unless you’re in a safezone.
  9. I wouldn’t really say patch a fix, more so they’ll implement a shiny new bomb or weapon... something. I highly doubt NQ will limit the players, moreso they’ll implement new features to balance things out.
  10. Having the tile be infinitely vertical means some tiles will have more “protected land” than others. Granted, you could always build up. But I honestly think there should be limits on TCUs. Just my 2c, not a big deal either way
  11. In either case, you can dig from the side until you hit the bottom. I assume you’re talking about around 4:30 mark? I was under the impression we could dig further than that, but they also stated there will be a limit on how far down we can go. So who knows . However, this is even better news for it means you can’t own territory under the limits of a tile. For the dedicated, you can attack from under. There is no debate the tile goes down further than it is horizontal, but my point stands... Recon the area, mark how long it takes to enter/exit the base. Make judgements on how far down there base is, and dig from the side. Then start using some explosives There’s always the choice of starting out with explosives... of course
  12. Sorry, I haven’t gotten very far... but if someone digs a hole they probably aren’t going to be purchasing a territory unit for every tile going down. I guess the question is, how deep does a tile extend? edit: tiles are based off the surface, there’s no owning a tile under a tile and whatnot. Makes sense . Even better news for us who wish to infiltrate a base.
  13. I believe they said they will try to implement controllers, not sure about HOTAS... but many people are interested, so I imagine they'll at least try. Considering they are into VR, I imagine HOTAS will be a package deal at that point Granted, that's a long... long... ways down the road, and it gives them plenty of time to think about HOTAS support haha
  14. Bahahaha. But pull out a gun and start shooting them, call for help, etc. I think NQ also just recently commented on players being "locked" in a safezone area due to another player's build, they'd have an option to teleport to the arkship or something. I'll see if I can go find it, I literally just read through it today :/
  15. I think gravity generators could be cool, haha. Can you imagine coasting, when all the sudden your ship veers off? Could be a nice way to manipulate your attacks and whatnot.
  16. I personally think gates should be dynamic. You should be able to make a gate, and move it to your desired location. You should even be able to switch the gate to be linked with another area... as long as there are limitations in place. Maybe a 1:5 (connect to) and 5:1 (connect from). Of course, by nature every one of the 5 locations would be connected with each other. So you could have gates A-E that are connected to 1-5... however 1-5 couldn’t be connected to A B C D But not E, and F. 5 might be a bit much, perhaps 2-3 locations. Perhaps that would require too much cooperation among gate owners. However, the jumps themselves would have to be reprogrammed after linking from A to 2 to something like A to 5. This would be a pretty dynamic system where you need a knowledgeable member about routes and programming jumps. I’m sure there’s a wholly better system that would diverge away from the “move through hoop” “exit on other side”. But this is what I could come up with Gates shouldn’t be something you lay down, and forget about because it’s safe and you have entire control over it.
  17. AFAIK gates don’t automatically come with shield protection. As for RDMS, I hope they don’t apply to gates... that’s “too easy”. Perhaps they’ve already discussed this and I missed it, but I don’t think so. You’re stating all these things as facts, which I don’t think they are at this point. But I’ve been known to miss stuff before haha, lots out there. Correct me if I’m wrong
  18. Not sure why there has to be a switch, if there's no one guarding the gate an adversary can just toggle the switch themselves. Anyway, these things are a loooong way off.
  19. Just my opinion, but it should not be a simple one time jump for the creator. As long as the gate is open, and the probe/drone is online... anyone should be able to use the gate if there's nothing impeding them. Just one way of course, until gates are built on both sides. The next question is whether or not a creator can limit traffic in their stargates arbitrarily. I personally think not, limitations should be conducted by physical confrontation.
  20. Is it confirmed that a probe can complete that function? Must have missed that, alleviates a lot of work if so haha. I vaguely recall discussion on it, will probably take a look around. If anyone has a direct link, would appreciate it. For some reason I thought you had to build a gate on both sides, which would be crazy tedious. Being able to launch a probe just to be an anchor, sounds realistic enough.
  21. Engines. NQ stated there will be a max speed, but it's hard to tell what that will be. I imagine you could also create gates between planets, but it's just whether that's worth it or not. Traveling will be an undertaking in DU, I imagine.
  22. I don’t think so. The whole point of interstellar travel is that you have a link between both places, which is hard to accomplish. You can’t just jump into the unknown, you actually have to travel and explore there first. Rightly so imho
  23. Edit: 15% is over, hope someone was able to utilize it haha. Still good deals on Ryzen on Newegg I suppose.
  24. I imagine multiple wipes will be important to see how the "starting" days change throughout development.
  25. You’re thinking too small. I’ll build my own planet. May have a lot of digging to do.
