    The design and general sleekness is all thanks to a forum member here, Kiklix, who put it together for me, probably with Photoshop.  The picture itself is a House i built in Landmark.  I make them myself sometimes but when i do it it's usually just a screenshot with my name slapped on there somewhere.
     
    There's lots of great concept art and screenshots on the Main Dual Universe site that you can borrow to create yourself a sig, if you don't have another image you want to use yet.  The max size for a signature on these forums is 800x200 pixels.
     
    And if you don't have photoshop there's a pretty handy free online photo editor called PixLr that i've been using lately.  It's no Photoshop but it does the trick.

    I'll watch that when I'm working on documents. Get myself in the mindset that I'll need to write all these bills and make sure each one of them has a reasonable purpose.

    So the dynamic core unit provides power to up to 6 elements using conduits?  That could make design very interesting.  Is there a fuel tank somewhere?  Would you need multiple DCUs to provide more power for weapons and shields?  I realize that this was just a pre-alpha skeleton they were putting together but I had that thrill go own my leg.  That was beautiful.
     
    So would we ever mass produce large ships with blueprints and factory units?  Or would that only be for say, sections, that would be assembled by hand?  I could see mass produced fighters, but large ships...
     
    I assume that we'll have dozens of different style engines, and we'll also be able to cover them with cowlings that will armor them.
     
    I'm just jazzed, keep the content coming!  Better yet let backers have the pre-alpha client and we'll make content for you!  xD

    I've seen the trailers and interviews from this game and I am absolutely blown away but I must ask some questions before I sink my money into this. Don't get me wrong, I know this won't be a disappointment but I do have some things that I've always wanted to do and some of them were the reasons why I'm in to games like these.
     
     
     
    Question 1: I was reading up on an interview and It said the devs are unsure about the alien life in other planets Is this true? 
     
    Question 2: Is It likely to stumble into a massive battle between control of a planet or a large area of one? I'm not against It, Infact, I'd really really like It if that happened
     
    Question 3: One of the reasons why I thought about getting this game is because of my idea of building some kind of recuperation facility in deep space were I can sell stuff and give out tips to new players. Will this be possible? And follow up to this question, Will eating be a thing, too? One of the things I've wanted to sell is food. 
     
    Question 4: Are swords confirmed?
     
    Question 5: Will there be planets that have only one biome? Planets with just ice or planets with just lava, planets like these (Sorry for the long images);  
     
     

     
     
     
    Question 6: I'm well aware that the game will have cool futuristic cities but will they look as awesome as these; (Again, I'm sorry for the long images, hopefully the moderator that looks this over can shrink this down)

    Question 9: The whole subscription thing doesn't really thrill me. Will you release this game on steam?
     
    Question 10: I kind of like the whole "Moderator has to approve your post before It gets put on the forums thing" It saves me the embarrassment of doing something silly. If It's not too much trouble on the moderators, Is It possible for me to keep this on even when I do make 1 more approved post?

    Thing is, one of the main functions of a government is minting and printing currency.  I can see that in the beginning of the game we're going to need currency issued by the defacto government, the Arkship AI godmind.  However, as planets become independent, have their own military and economies, write and enforce their own laws, they're going to want to manage their own monetary systems as well.  Well managed economies will have stable currencies and exchange rates, while poorly managed economies will experience inflation, attempt to enforce price controls, etc.  
     
    I think it depends on how many players we ultimately have.  If we top off around 20-30,000, we probably won't have enough players to have independent planetary economies, and all banking and currency will have to be managed by game mechanics.  If we have 100,000 players, we'll probably have two or three large political units with enough interested players to manage a government bureaucracy, arrange for deficit spending to build large battlefleets, have elections (or not) and manage customs and immigration issues.  In that case, there may be enough critical mass for money to be minted by these organizations and the arkship currency can be retired.

    Economies are tricky beasts.
     
    Here are some of the NPC based faucets/sinks I can see:
     
    a) Buy/Sell Raw Material
    Blue Print designs
    c) Assembled devices
    d) Go scan/explore an area (grid reference, moon, asteroid, solar system).
     
    1) NPC Pricing
    If pricing is fixed then materials have a floor value.  i.e. if the NPCs always buy iron at 1.3 credits per unit then no player will sell below 1.3 credits per unit.
    If they sell for 13 credits per unit no player can sell above 13 credits per unit.. But the farther you are away from the ark ship the less true that becomes.
    If you are a 3 hour flight from an NPC then 20 credits per unit might be the best offer you can get.
     
    2) Cash availability
    If NPC orders are unlimited for buying/selling then you have an uncontrolled economy that can spiral into hyper inflation/deflation.
     
    On the other hand if there is a hidden bank account that is the NPC money supply - when it runs out then the NPCs can't buy any more.
    This leads to problems with new players starting.
    Unless you pair it with an account per player.  i.e. each new player gets 1 million credits in their hidden account.  They can sell that much to NPCs to get initial cash.
    When that per player hidden account is empty then the NPCs have to have funds in the global hidden account or they are broken and can't/won't buy.
    Maybe selling doesn't refill the personal hidden account or maybe only up to a certain amount.
    If the money supply is shown to be too restricted the devs can add more to the hidden global account and the NPCs start buying again.
    Maybe it's determined that 100 credits/second should be added to that global account to keep things smooth, etc.
     
    3) Bartering
    This one would take a bit more work on the devs part to allow the market units to have individual values for bartering materials.
    If on your market unit you could say you value iron at 1.5 credits per unit and are selling a particular widget for 15 credits then they could buy the widget with 10 iron units.
    This gives lots of flexibility and makes more sense long term to me.  Credits have almost no meaning if I can't turn them into something I want.  And when your dealing with rare/hard to acquire material you will probably want to trade for other materials.
    i.e. I want to put a superb engine I built up on the market for 20k credits + 100 units of dark matter crystals.
    If you wanted to be really fancy you could support multiple "prices" per item. i.e. 100k credits, or 20k credits + 100 units of dark matter crystals.
    Add in the ability to lock those offers to certain people/groups. i.e. alliance members get special pricing.

    The GTEC are the ultimate capitalists. All matters of life are valued purely on economic terms; they are the galactic bankers, super-traders and information brokers; the interstellar financiers, the ones who always manipulate the Galactic pulse of Planetary Systems, Governments and Consortiums alike and seem to come out of any deal on top. When it comes to matters of money, trade and information, GTEC members are ruthless and would sell their own mothers into slavery if, in so doing it, a substantial profit/deal could be transacted; in fact, there are whispered rumors of GTEC's Founder having sold his mother into slavery under extremely secretive terms and conditions -- most probably the rumored acquisition of a planetary system considered having four of the richest mines ever to be discovered...at least that's what recent rumors are spreading.  Consideration into GTEC is open to all willing to Pay a "rite of passage" and proving their worth. You may be sent to broker an information agreement; to setup shop in a nefarious sector; or perhaps you'll be required to lead a team of ground and air forces to ensure GTEC interests are not infringed upon.
     
     
    GTEC initiates that fail will either have all their personal assets coinfiscated as membership payment or given an opportunity to sell any one of their family members into slavery -- which guarantees membership.

    I'm super happy to be here among others who see such great potential for this game! I'm looking forward to what lays ahead for us all, and am excited for the Sci-Fi "RP" in a Corporation / Organization filled Universe! also just good old fashion Resource gathering! I've always been a Space miner at heart!
