I suggest reading the devblog on the RDMS. Access can be controlled to a degree but nothing is really going to stop someone from joining an org for the sole purpose of being a spy and thief if that is the way they want to play. That is the beauty of emergent game play, the game in a way will mimic a real world. If you are unsure about joining an organization then I suggest joining different discords of the ones that catch your attention and getting to know the people in them first.

In short there won't be much as far as a game mechanic that stops this from happening outside the RDMS and how we as players use it. It is up to each org to police themselves while preventing and stopping this from happening within.

edit: here is a link to a faq page we made

The same algorithm that works for identifying photos can be used to identify a voxel construct.

If you copy a shape that is already registered as owned by a person in the game - like a whole ship - you will trigger the alert. How NQ wants to proceed with that, depends to be seen.

In Landamrk, if you copied the voxel construct of another person and tried to resell it, you would send much of your income on the Blueprint to that person you copied.

So, if a person figures out the "best" ship shape, people will pay them for the "patent". However, NQ should put a "patent fee" for keeping this going, so if a person leaves the game with a huge patent, they don't end up being a money sink.

I don't know how everyone else feels about this, but I would like the ability to start purchasing DAC's now to help with the fundraising.

I'm one of the people who has a high pledge already (Boosted Emerald) and so going to the next level will set me back ~$4000.

Instead of doing that, or having to open a second account to pledge, I think it would be useful to be able to pledge in smaller increments by purchasing DAC's now ahead of release.

In addition to that, I would love to be able to purchase pledges to give away. I know that technically you're not "buying" Alpha access with a pledge, it's more of a perk and a thank-you for pledging at all. However, I also know there are plenty of people out there who just don't have the financial means to be able to get into Alpha but would be valuable members of the community if they could provide feedback and help to get the word out a bit more.

Opening these options up would allow me (and others in my position) to continue to help the fundraising efforts, and to also help bring more people into the community.

    tl;dr :

    - I want to be able to purchase DAC's now to help with Fundraising
    - I want to be able to purchase pledges as gifts to give away to help with Fundraising and to bring more people into the community.

Yes, If I would've asked you to change your mind I am sure you would... you started this and it's going to Finnish in one way or another. These are the consequences for sniping and now everyone knows who you are and what you've done.

It could've ended differently I agree, but I'm afraid we have past that stage a while ago.

After seeing the latest Dual universe video I had an idea. Using the new coding function for screens. people who are travelling through trade stations could entertain themselves by watching live space battles broadcasted by private owned ships equipped with cameras filming the battle. You could have adverts for organisations/companies placed besides the screen to make profit from these screenings. Organisations could even organised massive space fights to prevent boredom leading to a war, and win resources or money from the losing organisations fleet. Furthermore, the people filming could sell the encrypted script to other players for money, so players could watch these battles when inside a home or office building. Alternatively, commanders could use this to view their fleet from a multitude of different perspectives allowing them to better coordinate their ships, but also meaning they dont just look at distant, far away objects during an epic space ship.

Thanks for reading and comment below your thoughts on broadcasting battles, or how else the new features could be used in game.

Couldn't agree more. When the game launches and people have to deliver on all the lofty promises they are going to realize that it's a lot harder to run an org than getting people to join.

Save all the buthurt for when there's actually something to fight over, because right now you're basically fighting tooth and nail over your own imaginations.

I would honestly recommend founding an alliance with people you know in real life, or have been with in other gaming communities.  If you can form an alliance with people you have a strong bond with, you will ENJOY the game... and others will soon flock to your alliance.  As at the end of the day, we are all here to enjoy the game.

    Hello to all,
In light of recent events I feel it necessary to address my organization as of now to clarify some unclear perceptions. Obviously there was a lot of commotion recently but not many seem to realise that the previous UL/TVR were not all alts and it was greatly unfair to those who were genuine. I have founded my Organization "Imperii Purpurae" to facilitate to those who's org(s) have been abolished, to give them somewhere to go where there are similar people in the same situation. There seemed to be a bit of confusion with my intentions - In no way is Imperii Purpurae a remake of any previous organization(s), The only reason that it was vaguely associated with UL was to try and band those members together under familiar members/colleges and give them a chance to help found anew, without the constraints of the Slaxx or the branding from the the MM. Under no circumstances are any former UL/TVR members to feel pressured or obligated to join Imperii Purpurae. As most orgs have already been well established I thought this would be the perfect time to found mine, It'll give a chance to any people who want to form governments, attain high positions and figuratively lead a new force of people as  the chances of them attaining such positions in other large orgs so close to Beta would almost be a mute point. We will be structured very differently from the previous TVR/UL and all of our members will be given opportunities to join the the odyssey of forming new systems, structures and relationships. I don't mean to say that anyone couldn't achieve these things in other orgs but as we are new there is a lot of work to be done and we are running a very open 'government' at the moment as we are taking all suggestions and everyone is encouraged to come with something new to implement.
We will be likely to ally with as many other orgs as possible; we are really considering multiple options, primarily Cinderfall, Elderich, Obsido Accords, DUA and the Solar Empire. We also require more members to fill out these administrative/diplomatic positions so we can begin functioning well before Alpha goes live.

Best of luck to everyone who was caught up in that mess and my apologise to any confusion caused.

The game hasn't even started yet! What am I reading here? Well if you too week to play politics in any MMO title play Overwatch or Rocket Ligue or something... it's clearly not a game or community fault. It's in any MMO game. Get your shit together, grow up and have a fun.

This is not only to @ardour but everyone else who thinks he is building something the best in DU.
Nobody is forcing you to become supreme leader of the best org ever created and making the best ships that ... well, how do you know if they will even sell .
Member of your own org told you so?

It's the market (that is far away from functional in game) that will tell you if you are good at something or not.
Same is the people who will decide to be with or without org you creating. There is no need for drama especially not at this stage.

Because at this stage 'playing' game is simply speculating, hoping and promising to others you don't even know you are able to deliver. Yes, its politicking, telling people pure lies
How do you know what is your position in game will be? Will you even have enough resources to build your own shelter but you trying to get hundreds into your org? They will run like headless chickens, and I expect this drama here is just a begging of what's coming when people realise how useless those promises are

And please, this is not a hate speech from me, I am far away from those big boys club, not even getting involved at this point. It is just a reality check you, and we all should be doing.
Alpha will not answer all our questions to all that either.

Instead of leaving the topic alone and just stating my goodbye, I'd like to have a few words in this as well.

Back when I joined the community, I was one of the people being contacted by Sakej99. He told me about Dual Secure when I told him about my plans for the game, leading a corporation and building ships better than the standard. At the time, Dual Secure and TVR were already the enemy of the whole community, which I had yet to fully realize. Instead of declining all offers, I replied that if he was interested, I could sho him my ideas. And Sakej actually did show genuine interest. He motivated me to start working on the models I have been thinking of for a longer time ever since seeing ODYs design ideas on the community page.

And after showing him my first projects, which honestly weren't good, he encouraged me to go on and make more, and with time I got better and more creative with my models. I posted these designs I actually made for Dual Secure on the community portal and gained a whole lot of helpful feedback. These designs are the reasons Objective Driveyards got interested in me, and today I'm a director in a beautiful organization in which I found a lot of friends, response and fulfillment. It goes even further, because one of the designs made its way to an industrial business near my hometown that actualy offered me a job at some point (which I accepted).

Through the whole story of TVR and MM, my standing in this community might be a lot different, who knows.
But I know I'm not the only one affected by their actions.

In fact, while I do support NQ's decision in every way and wish they keep up that kind of work in the future, it still saddens me how it had to come that the community lost an integral part of it - and even more that nobody realizes the actual loss yet, but instead celebrates it.
The actions of TVR surely weren't comofortable for most and I, too, had my fair share of personal experience with MM. I also knew about about their background for the longest time by now, yet I stll appreciated having a common "antagonist" in the community. Finding somebody willing to fill that spot is not that just a nice occurence, it's rare to find an actual constellation like this. I was also glad when the Unity League emerged, because that gave opportunity to have a serious and common threat later in the game. With the deletion of UL, we're back to a grid of many smaller and bigger orgs in what can look like a battle royale at times.

I certainly couldn't say this in the past, but this time, I have to agree with MM. He did get to entertain us in one way or another.
And while I know for a fact that not everything is completely true the way he states it, I appreciate him showing a more human side for once. Although he's still a douche.

I don't wish for anybody to lose their progress after they put that much time and effort in it. If you come back to DU, know that there are people who will appreciate it.
    Until then and good luck,

    Croomar

As the warlord of Alioth all the noobs will be forced to mine so they can leave through the small gate we create after we build a massive wall around the arkship safe zone. If they dare escape we'll surround the planet with a huge building lined with defensive turrets thus denying them space entry. kekeke~!

The shadow council will tell guild leaders to tell everyone where to put their skill points. Any dissenters will face BOO, CC, and any other pirates. Yes its all being controlled by the masterminds of tyranny.  Ohhh ohhh I cant hold all of this evil, good thing i built a swimming pool out of gold mined by all my indentured workers, I feel so dastardly, oooh!

I would say in order to command respect, a large organization would let another org know they are going to attack before they actually do it. If they don't, since they are a large organization everyone will see it and know what happened. Lots of other smaller orgs will see that and may wonder if they are next... That large org will become unpopular and probably make enemies just by treating everyone else with arrogance. So in the best interests of the longevity of a large and powerful organization, I think it would be a smart move and we could probably expect to see that. On the other hand, smaller orgs might not care so much about things like that, and indeed they wouldn't really need to.

So yes, I think we could expect to see declarations of war, but more commonly with famously large orgs.

Serpentine reacted to Anaximander in Collision Damage: Do we REALLY need it?
Uhm.. you seem to confuse localised grids and planetary grids. The Devs do not want collisions, because of the issue with planets constantly rotating.

I made my suggestion on the matter a long time ago. Instead of physics based collisions, add reactor instabilities and overloads, You bump one too many times (or at very high speeds), you explode (as you should), due to your capacitor on your ship overloading, thus exploding. Which meakes larger battleships more stable, by virtue of having multiple capacitors / power cores, that require more crew, with each capacitor even dedicated in one aspect of the ship.

This guarantees that a star-fighter colliding with a battleship at max speed will pop, but it also guarantees that the star-fighter has a huge margin of "bumps" when it lands on a carrier, or a planet, as it goes much much slower (and planets do not move).

Also,as you may think this, you do understand carriers do not actually have to move much in a battle, right? They are dreadnaught sized ships that carry fighters instead of more guns. So yeah, a star-fighter landing on a very very slow moving carrier, is not gonna overrule the bumps mechanic as of speed.

Beyond that, auto-pilots will land your fighter, you won't have to do it manually, at least, not in a FLIPPING military grade star-fighter.

The reasons such a mechanism is needed, is so do not crash land anywhere all the time. I mean, why do I even need a smmoth approach on a planet, when I can simply grind my ship to a halt without having to worry if I explode?

Heck, the Overload mechanism could be even a formula of change in velocity (DV), and how much of a ratio of it a reactor can withstand before it starts Overloading from the strain of the decceleration.

See, the real problem with the collisions, lies in the fact that people think collisions should be about voxels connecting to voxels, and said contacts altering those voxels. That's the part that takes up server RAM, as the server has to calculate collisions for EACH individual voxel.

MY suggestion, only takes into acout mass, decceleration and power core / capacitor "strength".

Which evidentally, is not ultra realisitc, but guess what happens if two metric megatonne battleships collide in space. You guessed it, they evaporate. There's no wreck left behind for the server to have to calculate damage done to voxels.

    Cheers!
