We are getting tired of the only real content in the game being pretty vanity constructs which aren't functionally superior. The much-promoted space elevators are functionally inferior to element elevators. There is not much reason at all to hold and maintain space stations. Twitter, twitch, reddit and forums are all full with pretty looking ships that aren't being put to use for the lack of a greater purpose. We can't attack the much-advertised freeports and the big cities. There is no reason at all to get together, introduce bureaucracy, get organized. The only group of people who are constantly rewarded and marketed are those who are willing to put in hundreds of hours to make a few construct pretty. This game has no room for greatness for empire builders, pirates, mercenaries, warlords,, explorers, and most others who don't want to be patient architects. Just a look at the official twitter would confirm this.

Sandboxes are grounded on ecosystems where there is a risk/reward balance. Rewards are positioned in a way that you get more if you risk more; and the risk is typically conflict with other players. NQ seem to be inexperienced with this kind of game design but they need to focus on ecosystem-building and now. They need to make hires with ecosystem-building as the greater purpose. Entire teams need to be allocated to this. This should be prioritized over less important quality of life things like mining bots, voxel editors and such. Even mechanical PvP improvements are inferior to a functioning ecosystem. The current early implementation of PvP would keep us playing it if only we had people to shoot at thanks to a well-functioning ecosystem which makes them take risks.

The game needs rewards to fight over. Ore (especially high tier) should have been way sparser, more permanent in tiles, and we should have been able to fight over it (over tiles). Even if they introduced territory warfare today, there will be nothing to fight over with this implementation of mining. A meganode expires in a day, and that is the timeframe in which a hex is valuable. If asteroids will give us things to fight over, we need them today. But they need to be implemented in just the right window, so they are not too abundant which leads to zero conflict, and they are not too sparse which creates monopolies.

We need things to discover, explore. The JC's "Ready Player One" approach to puzzles leads to bad implementation and waste of dev effort. The game doesn't need one major headline-making puzzle chased by only a minority of people. It needs puzzles, events, exploration rewards that are constantly respawning, that are inclusive to many players, and that don't expire; so people log in everyday and have something to do besides mining, factories and building. The rewards should be abundant and persistent enough for many others to participate. Even WoW in beta in 2003 managed to put some herbs here, some surface ore there, a treasure chest behind the waterfall to make people look for things on the map. There is no such activity in DU except mass territory scanning, which is mostly an unengaging afk activity. Wrecks didn't cut it. Again, NQ needs to get the sparse/abundant ratio right with these things.

We also need things to shoot at besides consenting PvP'ers. New ways to get caught while doing valued work (eg hauling) needs to be introduced. NPCs would have been a great source for this as well.  Just keep respawning a few NPCs between planetary routes and that would create content.

The game has so many rewards to distribute in the aforementioned activities. Blueprints and quanta could have come from exploration activities instead of inorganic daily login rewards or the bot orders.

Industry update failed to create the interaction and specialization it was supposed to create. People are mostly back to their gigafactories and t1 elements are again being sold at a loss. The update just made people go mine some meganode to raise initial capital, visit some planets for blueprints, and build some higher tier industry machines. In a functioning ecosystem such as Eve Online, trade comes from the scarcity and uneven distribution of source material (such as ore, blueprints); not from capital requirements to go into industry.

We should have been forced to make machines to do proper mining (or even building) too. The nanosuit does too many jobs which could have been done by interesting constructs. Making dynamic constructs for underground mines or to build our static constructs would have been an entire area to excel at.

There are plans for further mistakes such as taking contracts from Eve and misleadingly calling them "player-made missions". A "mission" implies there is a backstory, a unique purpose, some new experience and unraveling for people who go through it. "Put X amount of ore in my container Y" is a contract. It's a shallower activity. It might be an alternative way of making money. It's not a mission. It's not an "experience".

Another mistake will be invalidating miner work and opening up great fields to RMT'ers by introducing passive income via mining bots.

Meanwhile, everyday I see JC tweet another pretty-looking vanity design and say "possibilities are endless". And I ask myself if I should keep trusting this game's future. If he wanted a cooler-looking Minecraft then why spend so much money to design it as a single shard persistent universe at all?

They aren't gonna do anything because they wiping at release. No they won't tell you they are wiping, the subs would drastically drop.  The playerbase will be so low come "release" that it will actually pay for them to gamble on a wipe getting more people to join/comeback then the 84 people that would unsub because of the wipe.

NQ never keeps stones (may be some smallest, decorative and not important ones) up front. Usualy they throw them in your back. People with inside info can dodge better.

Why is this such a hard thing to fix?  Just find those purchases in the database, refund the money to the player, and remove the schematics.  It might be too late by now, players may have already made millions selling them off.  But if they REALLY cared about the economy as much as they say they do, they could find out who bought one and reverse that purchase as well.

IDK, probably too late.  What a cluster****.

And here we have it, NQ is completely clueless about their own mistakes and the fallout it has on the game. Once more they allow the big orgs to take advantage of the blunders NQ makes and seems afraid to take corrective action. NQ seems entirely oblivious about their own game and in the process continues to cause damage and harm that is left as is..

Until one or a handful of players make a mistake that causes no harm really to then come down hard and ban these players from the game.. It seems NQ is hell bent of seeing their game fail.

As and example of how this should be handled:

During an event in EVE, CCP by mistake seeded original blueprints for a faction battlecruiser. Doing so causes great potential for damage to the economy of the game and so CCP immediately announced the mistake and told player  to not copy or research these blueprints and also that all blueprints seeded would be removed form the game, collected blueprints would be exchanged for copies as intended and any copied or researched blueprints made by players would be removed.

Put in the same situation NQ would not even recognize the potential damage and just shrug it off. They just allowed big orgs to obtain high tier schematics like warp beacons at less than the production cost of such item, pretty much handing these orgs free beacons, just like they allowed these same orgs to obtain scanner, warp drives an d similar items day 1 of the pre-beta by dropping wrecks with  such items in the world. And NQ thinks that is fine.

This is a massive blunder to begin with and a spineless response showing NQ really does not actually care for the game and/or it's community.

If they do not change their attitude the game _wil_ fail.

My take -- its proverbial "tactical victory" for BOO (& Auxilaries) with more kills and control over field. They still probably (and so far) most numerious, organized, well equiped and experienced fighting force of DU. Yet, its surely its not time to relax, because this position now obviously contested. In this regard last battle not a defeat for ATOM & Co. Not at all. Despite more losses, they gained valuable experience, made a statement. And often in history "statement made" much more important, then per se singular victory, because it start long, but very conseqentual chain of events.

    Political implications

I think its fair to welcome ATOM into "great powers" club, because fielding and more or less successfuly operating such battle group was not a small feat. Looks like @Mulligan humbly, but very methodicly grown his forces to very respectable level. If we assume, that other factions of AC awake and bring something to table too, balance of powers can change against BOO in favor of AC, if critical numerical superiority will be achieved. Still, options for diplomacy open for both sides and BOO obviously can go more long-term treaties to counter. With space-russians? Who knows.

    State of game/PvP balancing

    1) Game feels little bit drained on players, because even such big and active org as BOO, by my perception, stuggled to field more crews.
    2) I personaly don't like current system favoring exessive voxel armouring, especialy with gold. Its bad both on combat and strategical levels.
    3) Game still dangerously bugged, because some participants reported nasty desyncs and crazy things with always missing weapons. I hope NQ are working on this.

Ok.. for starters... this is not how ingame lua works at all... I just briefly described what lua is capable of, and it is nowhere near the cyberpunk all-seeing-eye apocalypse some people think this is.
You cannot embed code onto a player. There is no way to use lua to alter permissions and policies. A lot of people have these kinds of trackers on their ships, factories, territories, etc. All it does is tracks when a player entered and left. That's all it can do. Nothing to worry about. Everyone can do it. Everyone can do it on mass like this org that places trackers on markets. Literally nothing to worry about, you're being spied upon all the time anyway, just play the game.

Disclaimer: I know that MMOs are ones where everything is requiring constant balancing however, this is to point out an overwhelmingly obvious imbalance in the game that needs to be addressed soonish.

After taking some hours to review some of the voxel I noticed something very problematic.
T-5 Voxel overall, is not worth even bothering to use on ships.

    (Side Note)
As far as design is goes, The only Textures that are easy to use for looks are:
    Gold Panel/Painted
    Niobium Painted/Panel
    Manganese Panel/Painted

Now back to the Voxel HP
It's understandable that the supposed market that NQ would want players to create would be created based on items made, the time it takes the make them, the ore required to make them and how long it took to get and refine said ore. However, when it comes to PVP or even the PvE aspect of the game voxels are horribly imbalanced and totally useless to even sell on the market. I'll first dive into the PVP aspect of Voxel's HP, Resistances, Rough estimated time to mine raw ore. Time to refine ore into Pure.

For PVP: Voxel HP and the issues that currently exist
After running the numbers I've found that basically all T5 voxel (pures AND products) are just about the worst thing you can chase after for ship defense.

I'll start by breaking down a T3 Voxel (Silver) and a T2 Voxel Copper and compare it to Manganese and Vanadium (Both T-5 voxels):

    HP against the different damage:

    Rough time to mine materials:
For Copper it takes about 10-15 minutes to both find and mine out combined
For Silver, for me at least, it takes anywhere from 15 - 35 minutes to find and mine out a single node
For Manganese takes me about 45 minutes to 1 hour and 10 minutes to both find, dig and mine up a single node
For Vanadium it takes me about 1 hr and 20 minutes to upwards of 1.5 hrs to find, dig and mine up a single node (most time is spent finding/scanning for it)

These times scale up as planets become more claimed over time and thus SHOULD be increasing their value at varying exponential rates. Which should thus show on the markets however, because Silver and Copper are more used in PVP none of the T-5 voxel ever see the battle field and thus never see the market (for this and many other reasons). The value for T-5 only exists within crafting and scrap for repairing elements in PVP. Even when people have found super nodes of T-5 rarely will you ever see any of them convert the raw ore into Voxel. Especially when the schematics are priced so high and the ROI on the voxel in PVE and PVP is non-existent.

    Arguements against this:
Well the HP is based on weight per cubic meter Response: Yes, however the weight is totally negated and barely even a factor when you have the T2 - T3 engines, the Talents for those engines for placement, AND for usage AND for weight reduction. So overall, HP based on weight per cubic meter is negligible. ESPECIALLY when it comes to PvP Well there's other uses for T-5 voxels Yes and no, T-5 Voxel being used for armor is a pointless journey to embark on since The Textures are extremely difficult to find a use/flow for other designs. (believe me, I tried for days) The HP to weight, EVEN FOR ATMO PVP is negligible when considering the talents (placements and handling) and the higher teir engines The only true use for T5 ore is for either Scrap or crafting. Use for voxel is pointless since Gold, Silver and even COPPER are better than a T-5 voxel. WHY IS THERE EVEN A T-5 VOXEL IF IT'S WORSE TO USE THAN ANY OF THE OTHER ONES?!?!?! In terms of ATMO PvP? I'd just use Silver or Copper because T-5 is just that bad from start to finish. Other use for it is to recycle it into scrap... which begs the question why it was turned into voxel in the first place... Well there is a market for T-5 Yes, barely and only for pointed  and specific crafting approaches, because you'll never see T-5 voxel sold on the market when it offers ZERO value for anyone. Also, The amount of time it takes to mine up the T-5 and refine it makes deciding to NOT create T-5 voxel a much easier choice since it's totally useless. Even the new product Voxel offers less than most of the T2 voxels and even some T1 voxel.

    T-5 Voxel for PVE (Markets):
There not much to be said on the PvE side of the game for T-5 voxels. Because if T-5 voxel is useless to PvPers then why would a PvEer bother trying to sell something no one will buy when they could make ten or hundreds of thousands of quanta for T2 - T4 voxel?

    Conclusion:
T-5 Voxel is pointless and begs the question of why it even exists since T-2 voxel is better than T-5 for both Space and Atmo armor especially when you consider the following points against making T-5 voxel: Average time required to Scan, find, mine, refine, craft design the voxel/ship Textures of the Painted and Panel (minus the Manganese and Niobium and Gold) voxel for nearly all of them are just horrific The resistances or HP for All T-5 do not justify even thinking of crafting the Voxel for PvP usage. Again, timing to make T-5 voxel is not justifiable Again, the Textures of Voxel's Painted and Panel Voxel are extremely difficult to use. The pattern voxel approach should've been reused in terms of the next set of designs.
    Ways to Correct:
Increase the Resistance for T-5 voxel so that it MAKES SENSE to decide if chasing T-5 voxel is worth chasing after. Reduce the time it takes to create T-5 voxel or increase the time it takes to make T2, T3 voxel since T-2, T3 and T4 voxel are ALL better than T5 lol (Even I'm not too sure about this one, but total time to make doesn't justify how useless it is) Review the painted and panel textures added into the game and attempt to mirror the approach used for the Pattern Voxel. (If you claim T-5 anything is supposed to be the best for most things then why does it look so crappy? if it had better or worse stats wouldn't you at least want it to look nice??) Adding in negative resistances for voxels that should OBVIOUSLY have it. For example: Why is gold not weakest against thermic damage? Why is marble (T-1) with zero resistances STILL stronger than T-5 voxels?? None of this makes any remote sense here. DO NOT NERF SILVER AND COPPER JUST BECAUSE EVERYONE USES IT AS A REPLACEMENT FOR STEEL AND THINK THIS WILL FIX THE ISSUE. People will end up flocking to the next best thing and the cycle will continue until you make the decision to actually balance the right mechanic of the game (T-4,5 Resistances) instead of just NERFing stuff just because everyone's using it. Nerfing solves nothing if you hadn't noticed.
P.S - Titanium is a material used for 95% of jet engine parts because of it's insanely high resistance to heat and extreme strength under high velocities. I'm saying as a jet engine inspector so seeing this was a serious pain point for me.

    (Skipping past the math)
    AM Res. HP = 3402
    EM Res. HP = 3543.75
    Kin Res. HP = 3969
    TH Res. HP = 3969

    Copper (T-2 Voxel)
AM Res. HP = 6880.8 HP
EM Res. HP = 6307.4 HP
Kin Res. HP = 6594.1 HP
TH Res. HP = 6594.1 HP

    (Skipping past the math)
    AM Res. HP = 3607
    EM Res. HP = 3896.1
    Kin Res. HP = 3751.8
    TH Res. HP = 3751.8

    Copper (T-2 Voxel)
AM Res. HP = 6880.8 HP
EM Res. HP = 6307.4 HP
Kin Res. HP = 6594.1 HP
TH Res. HP = 6594.1 HP

    (Skipping past the math)
    AM Res. HP = 6696
    EM Res. HP = 5456
    Kin Res. HP = 5456
    TH Res. HP = 5456

    Copper (T-2 Voxel)
AM Res. HP = 6880.8 HP
EM Res. HP = 6307.4 HP
Kin Res. HP = 6594.1 HP
TH Res. HP = 6594.1 HP

So T-5 Voxels are BARELY better than Stainless steel which is actually suppose to be pretty strong

Well, my press presence was little bit chaotic and last moment one (special thanks for guys who helped me to get into action -- @IvanGrozniy, @personality_matrix, @SpiceRub). Visuals/action itself covered much better by my more technicaly sophisticated collegues, streamers (special cheers to @Shamsie, great content). But I still want to share some impressions and thoughts about what happened.

    Subjective mode, obviously.

    So?

We need more of such good fighting. Good for game.

That the bug or exploit was fixed may or may not be due to your ticket.  The point is that  IF the report was passed on, the ticket should be gone from the queue and marked as resolved from the CS point of view if that is all they do with such tickets. And if your tickets is still in queue while the issue is solved that can mean a number of different gaps in the process the CS team uses. Basic triage would mean tickets are sorted based on content, context and severity. In such a case a resolution of an issue for which multiple tickets exist would mean all relevant tickets get closed.

This is not the place for a course in CS queue management but having a proven an successful trackrecord with setting up such systems for CS team several times the size NQ has for companies with a global CS organization several times the entire staffing of NQ, I will make the statement I know what I am talking about here.

I'm afraid asteroids will be another chapter of failure with exploits, bad balance and other typical cringe.

Like at fist they drop them totaly unbalanced or exploit ridden. Our usual suspects will grab millions of tonns of T4-T5. Then NQ --- oh, not how supposed to be. And they nerf asteroids to shit, but allow players who grabbed immense riches at begining to keep them. Or something like that. May be location of asteroids with expensive mega-nodes will be leaked. At this point nothing will suprise me. But I kinda expect nothing good from NQ, they literaly so far not implemented major feature from 1st try without major failure. Not even once.

I think NQ needs to embrace the fact that when you make "risk vs reward" deadly serious, in a game, that makes every little bug deadly serious too.

There's only really three options i can think of to fix this right now.

    1. Fix all the bugs.

    2. Remove "risk vs reward" mechanics until all the bugs are fixed.

    3.  Hire enough support staff so that they can handle the number of tickets that are coming in.

One is impossible, two sucks, and three is expensive.

But they need to pick one.
