If this is just a building game, we would not be here because this is not one of the best building game. The creative design for this game and how they advertised this to us is this is a single-shard, building, economic, PVP, player-driven game, something that has never been done before, something we have been dreaming about but no company have taken the risk of undertaking. We are here for the package! This cannot survive as a building game alone!

How is it that this is a single-shard but the game doesn't feel social at all in-game? How come the economy of the game is so broken that it just fails to immerse?

It fails so bad on the package that other MMOs are a lot better than this because they have more to offer!

This game has a lot of potential, even Revelation Online has a lot of potential, even BDO has a lot of potential, even Bless Online has a lot of potential, but look what happened to those games? It's not about the f*cking potential, OK?! If things will not go in the right direction, it doesn't matter!

@le_souriceau It's stuck because of our web production capacity, though we've recruited more employees to help on the front. As you may remember the website wasn't exactly in a good state back at beta launch o_O and we've had to redo/refactor a lot of stuff web-wise since then. Pretty much the whole "new" website has been redone, as well as our backend infrastructure for a lot of important features like codes (for beta invitations etc.). Latest plan is that it should come out in Frebruary but don't hold that for a firm date as other priorities may come in the way.

I think you little bit overcomplicate things and want to see "cancel culture" where is none. I'm not american or even european in sense to be too much bothered by this virtual sniveling.

Reason I structured my message this way -- to show, that "establishment" (anti-wipe/anti-anything in changes that can cost them) having much more "big names" and ears access of NQ (complicated, but in primitive terms), relativly methodical agenda. They can act as quite coherent lobby force, if critical need arise to defend their interests (as likely happened during dodgly canceled Alioth regen).

"Resistance", to keep it in funny terms, that for most part I feel to be part of too, are relativly disorganized, less numerous and overall much more marginal (in wider sense, I hope you not again see it as "canceling"), agendas are different. Sure we can throw some righteus dirt in this forums (largly abandoned), kick some most intolerable simps on official Discords, but thats it. Little of effect. Obvisously, there is a lot smart people who do hard critics, no denial of that. Anyway, I was felt like their/our current position deserves some kind irony.

And I not see how this "labels" are insulting (again, with healthy bit of self-irony). Exept may be freaks, but its just reality -- that all this wipe talks attact brain-unstable people to do their best like, if you remember, 1st week Discord circus. Overall I can call myself all this names, was angry noob, now grumpy vet (not vettest vet, but still), sometimes vigilante, sometimes revolutionary, even sometimes freak. Its ok!

Im not into building games at all and never played factorio ir Minecraft or that stuff but for some reason I picked up dyson sphere program a few days ago which is in early access rn. And guess what, all the basic funcionality is in the game right from the start and I love it so far, sitting at 60h and rising.

When compared to NQs labeling that game might as well be at release rn and not in early access. Go figure

This why I think they so vengefully executed poor bastards from M15.

Not because they done something so impossibly harmful for game (lot of 10000% more harmful economical "criminals", outright exploiters walking around free with ill-gotten billions), but because they kinda naked NQ problems in operating (in audit/rollback/repair sense) with data and all like this, put them in position of overall mockery.

Would be a real joke if power is infact needed for industry thereby limiting the number of elements you can have and adding another layer of limitations on top off the schematics.
Probably that will be the case.

Best schenario schematics stop to exist then.     Oohh but then the people who profited by this grave error will get their schematics payed out by NQ, because all schematics are then refunded, probably
For what its worth, any energy management should have been added prior to everything else that might Use it

You make a very solid point on hitting at the marketing team.

The person in charge of marketing @NQ-Sesch of marketing DM'd inquiring about it, of which I'm writing up a lengthy response in:
Marketing in DU from a player's perspective How it has negatively affected the people on the ground.. in general... because my exposure is limited Possible ways to improve on that front so people don't feel lied to.. because that's what I'm hearing from people The various content that is either mis-marketed or not marketed at all The possible marketing points listed in this forum post and exactly how they connect How they could possibly NOT do what No Man's Sky did. Where in the game mechanics didn't match the promises made through marketing/announcements People were pissed off because of the dichotomy created and they became more frustrated as time grew on. Eventually they didn't bother paying attention until it was corrected.
This aspect here only steers their community away even more.
I've inquired about the lack of communication from their more public facing people like @NQ-Naerais and @NQ-Naunet.

If there's life issues going on then that's understandable.
When I've made post after post about various questionable aspects of DU and get no response, I simply sit and be patient. (giving it the benefit of the doubt)
Yet, when a Silver Founder/ATV person says something that echos what my posts are about then there's a response a few hours later.
This sends a clear message to people in general.. and not a very good one.

I praised @TheBlacklist and @NQ-Pann for taking the time to speak with me over a stream, about a week or so later. Very cordial and professional regarding my posts in a very public way.

Because of last year's questionable approach to say #Market15 bann and a number of individual bans that further pushed the public's view of NQ into the dark people are a bit more afraid of:
even bothering to ask questions, challenge NQ dev's stance on mechanics inquire to marketing teams about why something was marketed as so Poke and probe the game's broken or bugged mechanics in hopes of getting NQ to quickly fix things Challenge their GMs, Admins, PR, Devs and even JC himself. All because someone, somewhere is afraid of getting banned, suspended, silenced, censored, or even fired. It creates this cancel culture in the DU community that turns people off and adds a crate of WD-40 to a bonfire.

You cannot just "ghost" your community

NQ's actions last year were identical to a... certain person's response (whose name begins with a D) when she began to block virtually everyone who had a response to her statements. Even Du helpers who had positive yet, small critics about her forum posts.

Don't get me wrong, some people are rather cancerous with their statements and cause themselves to get banned but there's people on the DU Memes server who've outright said they don't bother asking questions on DU discord anymore, others just simply quit.

In the end, approaches to their community like this only echo out into the greater gaming community and generates bad word of mouth for the company. Thus also negatively affects marketing. When people see an ad from NQ and then hear "They are ban happy or they don't respond to your questions" or their customer service is sub-par. (limited resources aside... because yes, it's important to acknowledge that they're not swimming in cash).

Tonns of good points. About headline: I doubt marketing team have any meaningful say in important decisions.

Yet, with all this I more and more suspect that NQ secretly planning wipe (at least as plan <B>), sort of all-in "fresh start". Because current one to large extent failed (sure, it in eye of observer, but for me its quite obvious).

    I see some particular signals.

Per example, technicaly they can't fix website and refferal program for damn half of year. Or they do not want already? Because it makes sense to save this impulse for more active/positive moment of release, then waste it now, in aura of serious negativity.

All sorts of leaks and economic blunders  -- NQ dealing with them quite... unenthusiasticly, if at all, likely not waste energey on temporary problems (why to bother, if it all be wiped). Sure, our "feedback" not pleasant, sometimes seriously (like 0.23 outrage produced some backpedaling), yet overall their tactics seems to just waiting game, until everything calm down with people loosing stamina and interest to make trouble (some reminiscence with Alpha).

Return to communication of "just messenger" style, despite growth of CMs numbers. What they all doing is mystery for me, but my tin foil theory: they pulled to some long-term projects, may be even outside game itself, that will be preparation for actual release in some mysterious form. Day-to-day communication with rioting peasants likely set to lowest priority (signature way of comms here).

An economic exploit like this in a market PvP/civilization building game/time scarcity based territory control game/similar, is like modding a FPS to have a bigger head shot area for your team alone.

Player numbers are my major concern for long time now, its obviously super-dangerous for MMO. For some reason NQ seems to be quite non-sensetive to this, crudly alienating a lot of people with 0.23 (and several smaller mishaps before and after) + not indtroducing long promised recruit a friend program (like 6 m now?), not making other visible steps, that can increase game atractivness for new people outside.

They maybe done some Twitch investment with court CCs, but looks like little of people want to watch them.

    Not true.

    1) Starting conditions of new world at Beta release were leaked. Not a big deal (on surface), but was used to some extent to grab best spots faster/figure out optimal rush strategy. I knew some details in advance.
    2) 1st attempt to intdocude wrecks was (most likely) leaked, this why many most valuable things were found almost instantly. Yet, I have no solid proof on this one.
    3) 2nd attempt to introduce wrecks (locations) was 100% leaked, this why NQ introduced silly "loot limit" to do at least some damage control without aborting whole event. I had leak about this in advance.
    4) 0.23 patch principal info (90% accurate) was at least 10 days before in hands of many interested parties, who without delay started to use it for profit, bying things to sell after (I had this info too, via my "press channels", as all other). For some people such inside produced hundreds of millions of speculative money.

Well, my press presence was little bit chaotic and last moment one (special thanks for guys who helped me to get into action -- @IvanGrozniy, @personality_matrix, @SpiceRub). Visuals/action itself covered much better by my more technicaly sophisticated collegues, streamers (special cheers to @Shamsie, great content). But I still want to share some impressions and thoughts about what happened.

    Subjective mode, obviously.

    Results

My take -- its proverbial "tactical victory" for BOO (& Auxilaries) with more kills and control over field. They still probably (and so far) most numerious, organized, well equiped and experienced fighting force of DU. Yet, its surely its not time to relax, because this position now obviously contested. In this regard last battle not a defeat for ATOM & Co. Not at all. Despite more losses, they gained valuable experience, made a statement. And often in history "statement made" much more important, then per se singular victory, because it start long, but very conseqentual chain of events.

    Political implications

I think its fair to welcome ATOM into "great powers" club, because fielding and more or less successfuly operating such battle group was not a small feat. Looks like @Mulligan humbly, but very methodicly grown his forces to very respectable level. If we assume, that other factions of AC awake and bring something to table too, balance of powers can change against BOO in favor of AC, if critical numerical superiority will be achieved. Still, options for diplomacy open for both sides and BOO obviously can go more long-term treaties to counter. With space-russians? Who knows.

    State of game/PvP balancing

    1) Game feels little bit drained on players, because even such big and active org as BOO, by my perception, stuggled to field more crews.
    2) I personaly don't like current system favoring exessive voxel armouring, especialy with gold. Its bad both on combat and strategical levels.
    3) Game still dangerously bugged, because some participants reported nasty desyncs and crazy things with always missing weapons. I hope NQ are working on this.

    So?

We need more of such good fighting. Good for game.

If this true, NQ now can drop any remaining updates as dirty and unbalanced as they want before release. Then use our tormented feedback to fix it (to extent). Wipe. Then release, betting on attracting more new players for better, cleaner game.
