  1. This. And also it is unlikely that a static construct (aka a building) will be able to extend over territory boundaries. If it could, who would own the building if the neighboring territory changes hands? By the above I assume you mean claims in space which are very much *not* a thing. Though building a static construct outside claimable territories (aka "space stations") will definitely be doable. Now assuming that planets may do that spinning thing, you would need to cover the entire planet in a ring to "roof" a territory. That sounds like another good reason to have revolving planets, besides sunrises and sunsets.
  2. You do not need rights to destroy, only to collect resources. Also, it would probably be "illegal" to damage someone else's property so that might not turn out well either. However, if buried in the safe zone, then yes you have a problem.
  3. I believe the idea is that core units will be able to be linked together to form one big construct. Though I am not sure that this was confirmed. If true then you have core units with limited build area *and* potentially unlimited construct size. We will see.
  4. https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/336-members-selected-for-the-alpha-team/?p=1270 This information is still accurate except for the "First half of 2017" should be "September 2017".
  5. Good. Good. Let the DU consume you. Edit: Well with the name change, this joke kinda falls flat. So I'll just say Jäääger.
  6. A better solution: Ask a moderator to delete the post.
  7. tbh, I don't think this will be an issue because in NQ we trust. And if it does become an issue, then we are here to point it out. Like those orange rings for space flight trajectory: they do seem a bit too solid to me. But to paraphrase JC: this is pre-alpha and everything is non-final. This is by no means putting down your concerns. And discussions like these do raise other interesting ideas. Like I would like to customize avatar HUDs maybe based on equipment worn. It's a thought. Have fun and keep posting.
  8. The pedantry is strong with this one. I have updated my post, though if people take what they read in a random post over JC's own words (in the same post), there is really no helping there. Edit: And I really do want to see what happens to wooden spaceships
  9. Firstly JC has stated in an AMA that it is unlikely for there to be collision *damage*. While technically doable, there are multiple reasons not to implement it. As for the air traffic question: How about air traffic controllers? But I don't think air traffic controllers are the way forward. That is much like having a traffic warden at every intersection waving cars down. It is not sustainable for very large numbers of craft. That said, they will work for low amount of traffic. So what are the alternatives? How do we handle flying cars today? The answer is we don't, because the skies have not been mapped to handle any kind of traffic (and seeing how some people drive, it would not be advisable giving them a flying car). But the skies are huge and space is full of...space. This kind of problem will become apparent in or around cities and space stations. In these places constructs could be placed to demarcate sky lanes. Edit: Skip to around 9:56
  10. This I do not agree with. The more well thought out posts the better. I enjoyed reading through the three parts probably because they contained a far smaller concentration of twerkisms. Hopefully NQ will consider adding Melee combat to the roadmap for sometime after release.
  11. I realize this little post should probably have gone here. https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/11219-about-the-tile-ownership/?p=53425
  12. Can't beat Kurithos welcome, but welcome anyway Join some discords and feel free to ask questions.
  13. Welcome. Strap yourself in because we are in for one hell of a ride.
  14. 50,862 * 0.681 gives a surface area of around 34637 sq km. So Alitoh has a radius of around 52.5 km So let's assume "only" the top 1 km of the planet is mineable. Volume of Alioth is around cubic km: 6.06×10^5 Volume of unminable planet: 5.72x10^5 So the mineable volume of the entire planet is 34 000 cubic km Let's say 1% of that contains usable ores (it will probably be a bit more) So we have 340 cubic kilometers of ores. That doesn't sound like a lot. But wait, let's get that count in Olympic sized swimming pools (2500 cubic meters). So that's around 136 million Olympic sized swimming pools in volume. Now let's be conservative and say each player on average mines out 1 Olympic sized swimming pool a day. We ignore the logistics of finding the ore and moving it around. For 50 000 players it will take 2720 days or around 7 and a half years to mine out. But players are crazy so they can easily do it in half that time Once we know how fast we can actually mine, we can get a better estimate. I am not really worried about running out of resources since in 2 years players would have spread to other planets where the same calculation can be done all over again. And we are not even counting moons or asteroids. Edit: The numbers are a bit off. It's actually more like 50,862 * 0.65 = 33060.3 sq km. Which gives a planetary radius of closer to 51.292 km. Also the depth that can be dug might be more than 1 km and the % of ore to not-ore could be as high as 20%. So the above estimates may be very much on the low side.
  15. Welcome to the forums and I wish you best of luck with MASKED. Just a quick FYI: In Dual Universe the "guilds" are called organisations. Because knowing is half the battle.
  16. Love the idea of incapacitating attacks. This will work very nicely but only if: 1) suicide is always an option. If there is any way of blocking the suicide button, it can be used for griefing. 2) the means of incapacitation is slightly more difficult to pull off than straight up killing with lethal weaponry. I think both points have been adequately addressed in this thread. So thumbs up from me. To me the topic of medics (skills/equipment/upgrades that do healing) seems like a separate discussion, but as they relate to incapacitation, a revive makes sense. While this incapacitation mechanic does not require medics to function, medics certainly add to it. It goes without saying that a medic should never be able to bring back the dead, that's what reznodes are for. A final unrelated note: Twerk , please try to tone down the triggering just a tad. And for others: please don't feed the trolls. This has been a public service announcement.
  17. Welcome and good luck with growing your organization.
  18. The problem is based on the above assumption. I do not see it as a problem since the server technology *has* to handle this number of players. These are just player avatars and not complex constructs with crazy voxel creations. So yes, this will definitely put the technology through it's paces, but it is not the biggest hurdle yet. Also as a side note the safe-zone will be big. 20 km big. Relative to a 1.8 m (ish) avatar, that is quite a lot of space. Kudos to the person that walls that entire thing. For those that have not seen it yet:
  19. Welcome. Stay a while and listen.
  20. Are you sure you are not twerk? Or both might be alts of Cybrex. How can we ever know?
  21. Great article. For those not acquainted with EVE well worth the read.
