  1. Way i like too see it is if a player comes at you and dies many times trying to revenge kill you thats their problem.

If you repeatedly hunt that specific player for no significant reason and make their game a misery then thats griefing it has nothing to do with piracy and calling yourself one is an insult to piracy.

But targetting a specific organisation due to war or whatever and happening to kill the same player repeatadly is not griefing theres a fine line.

  2. It's a nice idea but it would cause some damage to "space salvage"  and to balance it with real life it would really need to have a minimum timer of 2 weeks of inactivity before decay starts to set in.

    Longer if not inactive

  3. Someone mentioned quantum encryption. IF you buy the blueprint copy and construct the ship via the industry autobuild (whatever it will be called).

Using observation and skill and a little bit of breaking some voxels in the ship itself.

There is no reason why you cant create a completely new ship by hand that is almost if not an exact replica of the blueprinted industry built one.

Make a master blueprint of that ship and sell your own copies on the market.

But automating copying the blueprint via skills or whatever is not going to be a thing i believe.

  4. I definitely hope that some organizations try to create and enforce their own laws.  That would certainly be interesting.

NovaQuark could definitely create some resources that might have positive and negative effects on players or the environment, that might cause organizations to want to ban them in their controlled territories.

The slave thing.  I just don't get it.

I've never seen a game that has implemented slavery in any way that actually adds anything unique or interesting to the game.  Honestly It seems like developers often just toss in a "slave" or "drug" commodity because it makes teenagers giggle.

I think NovaQuark can do better then that.

I have to agree on that slavery can really be defined as griefing. Contracts between players rp wise that's fine.

  5. Some of it comes down to the old active and passive argument if you are a passive player and only log in now and again sure you are paying for the servers but not to the emergent gameplay.

I still think active use of a skill should have some influence however small on the time it takes to train that skill (while the timer is active)

It makes sense as you are downloading the info from the arknet and learning by doing. Otherwise everyone is the equivalent of a computer downloading cookbooks

Even if the active play only speeds up the tick speed a small percentage.

Just make it so any other skill you are not downloading is not trained 110% of 0 is still 0

The key is to have the active reward small enough so it's hardly worth grinding for but still has an effect over time as you play and use that skill.

  6. I think a balance is needed between the 2. If you are actively mining and training the mining skill at the same time. Time should tick down at accelerated rate, rewarding active play. If that skill is not being trained at that time then actively doing something would have no effect on the time.

Devs mentioned early skills will take minutes to train while late skills could take a month or more.

It has it's drawbacks as well as someone training a weapons skill would go round holding down mb1 with their Gatling laser just to get that accelerated rate.

To resolve this make it an accelerated rate for 10 minutes so then they only go around killing people once every 10 minutes and make the percentage like 10-20% faster so in level 4 and 5 skills it really wont make too much of a dent. And the low percentage would mean they are unlikely going to be able to afford to commit to it on a long term basis.

  7. Solar would probably only look at the orientation of the planet and not at shadows... Which could lead to weirdness like underground solar. But let's say shadows of voxels do make solar panels stop working, then it would be easier to park a massive ship in the way.

Minecraft already has a solution for this though although simply mining upwards solved this however, in dual universe this would be a crippling weak point.

     canseesky=true and timeofday== then
  8. I can see some uses for renewable power, charging a capacitor for defense. Downside is it runs out of power and the renewable would not compensate well.

Attack forces may use solar to power low end systems on a ship. Or charge up a capacitor. although It would be far less efficient than using the main ships reactor.

Point is i guess is with renewable's  they always have to be superseded by none renewable.
