Main problem as I see it, is that NQ is adding more and more time gating and grind as a quick and easy way to try and extend game play, instead of actually adding more features to the game. And sadly the end results is that by doing this they end up removing game play instead of adding it.

All these posts about what people are doing in game... Most all of it sounds like work, chores, and grind. Anyone playing DU for fun or just out of the fear of loss if you did not play?

All those are 'normal' MMO issues that NQ MUST be able to handle without wiping the game.
If they cannot, then it will only be a question of time until a new wipe will be needed after release. And another one, and another and so on..

I mean we all know that the game will be unfinished when released right? And with major changes to the game coming after release, it means that those issues and worse are bound to happen again also.

It seems many of you are more interested in keeping BP then skill points, i find that a little strange.

bp's can be recreate, the time spend on skill points cannot. That makes skill point the only item with true value.

The slowing forums is people realizing their words fall onto deaf ears that say "we hear your concerns" all the same. We can complain and talk about all the issues here and suggest whatever we want, it just doesn't make a difference. This thread here alone is people voicing and talking about the wipe issue for a month now, making suggestions or stating opinions and observations on specific problems around the wipe. And NQ has not said a thing about it all this time, despite players begging for any word on the matter.

So here we are, talking to eachother and at eachother without the power to make it change anything. And with that realization comes apathy and activity slows down.

    Two sides to this.

    1. For each active player it costs more money for NQ to host the game on (AWS) cloud servers. And since NQ are locket into this tech and cannot do self hosting, they have no way to efficiently scale the economics of this.  So there is a fundamental problem with the architecture of the game that prevents any kind of "free to play".

    2. The game is bad, and NQ knows this. So as you said, any free exposure would probably do more damage then good. And this is probably also the main reason why they stay away from the steam platform etc., since they would get murdered in the reviews and they know it.

At this point it's not tough any more, they have burned all good will with inaction and deceptive post that has little to no context.
+ At this point the player base is so small it doesn't matter either way what happens. Loses will be takes, how they come out on the flipside is more interesting, will they kick development up in to 2nd gear, communicate clearly or just the same old same old. That will make or break what remains

I honestly feel this makes no sense.

A decision like this is not taken lightly sure, but at the same time for a project which is set to go to release in mere months, after which there is no longer the option to wipe really, such a decision would have been made. Also, your post basically completely ignores the many comments made outside of mentioning that you read them. It just feels like one of those "we heard you" kind of posts where NQ tries to control the fire they started themselves but fail to actually bring the proper extinguishing material. And in this case NQ really just threw water directly onto an oilfire, causing a massivee flash-fire.

I really can't accept that NQ has not made the decision whether to wipe or not and following that can't see how they have not decided on a wipe close to release for a number of reasons, but mainly a wipe would:
Remove the accumulated damage done by exploits Remove the constructs owned by inactive accounts Remove constructs by beta keys accounts which would go inactive at that time Allow for offering a "head start" to backers leading into release Allow for offering a subscribing incentive to beta key access accounts (participate in head start)
There are plenty more benefits but I guess these would be the main ones. This would be a wipe where:
Worlds are reset, all constructs removed Quanta is removed with the normal starting amount left, possibly up to a higher starting amount as a bonus Account talent points are reset, the accrued points returned to the pool For constructs which the account is creator for or which have no DRM set on the core a normal core blueprint is provided
Lastly, not announcing a "no wipe" at this time really makes no sense as it really changes nothing and will instantly end the conversation. I can see how NQ believes announcing the wipe now could possibly have repercussions but at the same time, the indecisive position NQ takes on this has already damaged the game and has resulted in consequences where many of the active player base, including what I'd consider the major streamer for the game at this time, have decided to either shelve the game for now altogether or reduce their activity to a minimum.

And I could easily see that cause more damage that just coming out and announcing the decision mase, which IMO really only can be that a wipe wil loccur a few weeks prior to the release date to accommodate the benefits I mentioned above.

You managed to make players uninstall and leave because they can't see themselves handle the pressure of fixing ships that should not be broken and what is reported as broken is due to your algorithm not working as it should. (or better, is irrelevant to the intended target).

This construction thing is overshooting the intended target so far it is affecting players who designed and sold ships in good faith and do not feel they should now be punished by having to go around fixing stuff that is really not broken at all.

As with many things, we told you this was an issue but you once again did not listen and as a result more creators leave the game.

While I could fix my constructs, ALL of the triggers for the obstruction were with YOUR element design and how hitboxes work. And on top of that, what is happening now had _nothing_ to do with the original reason for these changes, people using tricks to place multiple elements in the same space and have them operate fine. It is the usual "carpet bomb the general area to try and hit the target cheap solutions NQ is coming up with that is driving people away as they impact the general enjoyment and gameplay.

And no, "log a ticket" is not a valid response here. We told you, you ignored us (once again) and so this is _your_ problem, not ours. Besides that, there is no way to be sure such a ticket would get any attention to begin with.

On top of that, you know you are going to wipe, you also know (or should at least) that this will resolve the intended target constructs from returning into the game as their blueprints will not work, yet you still shoe horned an otherwise pointless change which just causes more grief and disappointment for your player base.

Such a shame to see what once was a game with immense promise be washed down the drain by these things. Such a damned shame..

Then I don't get you argument, since if you like me don't care about PvP etc. and just want to do you own thing. Then there is no reason to care about "fairness" in a game like DU where there is no race again time or anything to win other then the goals you set for yourself.

And with regards to "fairness" and self imposed PvP competition, I find it strange (not really) that those that complain the loudest, usually has a tendency to stop complaining the moment they get ahead.

I don't think you even took the time to understand the OP's suggestion (not about a wipe)...and either way, this sort of insult makes you sound like a whining teenager.

For someone so concerned about "care bears" complaining...you seem to complain so readily and are eager to throw around personal insults despite not knowing the OP at all.

If you're worried about people throwing a tantrum and ruining the game's fun, try looking inward.

Oh and NQ while your at it give me a One Click Core Destruction Functionality, Where I can walk up to a CORE of any size that I own Dynamic or Static and have it revert back to elements and voxel into my link container. A cherry on top would be the have it return the associated blueprint as well if used. Now that would be exciting.

NQ give me Cross Core Container Transferring, Fuel Tank Hubs, Hub to Hub Linking, Increase Hub Container link limit to 20 or more, make transfer units able to handle more than one type of item seems like a good time since your removing schematics allow one transfer unit to transfer multiple types to multiple containers and oh increase that damn 10 link limits. Just my personal wish list, do this and you can take everything I have as I would embrace the change to play DU again from scratch with changes like these simply because they would force me to change how I previously played the game. But if you give me the same game, same tools, same mechanics then I want to play it the same way I have for the previously 2 years.

And after a year has passed another wipe? I don't get it - players which enter a game at a random point in time allways will be behind those who have been playing it before them. This game is meant to be a persistent and evolving sandbox. When you subscribe to EVE today you are behind people playing it for 19+ years.
No. I'm still very interested in playing this game, Only the uncertainty regarding a possible wipe is currently keeping me from pursuing several of my open projects further.
If they gonna wipe i'm done with this game, allready canceled the automatic subscription prolonging.

if that was the case they could just off load them to the primary owns account, no bp or anything just despawn them with a token for respawn when/ if the users returns.
That way the use has more incentive to return, now "all" is just lost

Yesterday, while playing the MU minigame running around 30km to harvest the calibration throw-outs, I was thinking of visiting the forum and checking the climate of the players posting here. I remembered today and did so. To my surprise the wipe discussion hit the halls again. What a shock ran through my veines !

    BUT THEN ...
Its hard to confess, but the more I think about that WIPE the more I start to like that idea.

That would be my way to - stop playing, stop thinking, planning, dreaming - any longer about DU.
No more hours and hours and HOURS of scanning one planet after another with no success for anything. No more pressure to do anything for growth. No more questionmarks for things I cant lookup somewhere. All that gone - with just that one little simple WIPE.

As a Ruby-Founder my word does not count much, since no sub needed. So, I wouldn't be a big loss for NQ anyways.
I'm thankful for DU, I enjoyed it much with my friends. Thinking back to the days on Sanctuary learning how to crash.
It was a good time. Really.

Thanks for all your writings guys.
    Did "enjoy" to read through.
