    Very interesting.
    Pareto efficiency - Wikipedia
It reminds me the Monopoly which was "an educational tool to highlight the negative aspects of concentrating land in private monopolies."
Does someone knows a more boring game ? (I mean Monopoly, not DU)

This is based on my own personal experience with an MMO, I currently play, which has also earned my loyalty for the past five years and hopefully more years to come.
The following is the model I currently enjoy and think is fair:
Buy to play (One must buy the base game and every subsequent major expansion, not including small content updates). Pay to Play (Subscription based with occasional free trial weekends and refer-a-friend programs). A balanced/healthy mix of cosmetics split between in-game achievements and a cash-shop  with zero(0) pay-to-progress elements. Absolutely no F2P as it will undoubtedly turn into pay-to-win(P2W) with a toxic community. I personally would not play any game labeled as F2P. Nothing is free.
Ultimately, your business model will heavily depend on the quality of your work. if the game is beautiful, works as intended, and the game loop is fun, it will sell itself through word of mouth. In my opinion, the best marketing strategy is a loyal playerbase who love the game and not just power through it until something better comes out.
    That's my two cents.

I like how people defend their "there's plenty to do in the game right now" with market stuff and building. I see that only as settling for less and just a workaround around the current lack of game content. "I mined only once and never again"... sure you can do that but your gameplay then revolves around min-maxing market tables. There are way too many niche justifications for the current "game loop". And they all suck.

"Just build something and sell it", "Just start an org that does x or y", etc etc... that's it... that's the whole game. Meanwhile someone has to mine the mats for the ships and buildings... What is happening here is what happens in the real world... not everyone is a business man who doesn't have to mine for money. The people who "don't mine" in DU are riding the pareto distribution wave  on the top end and fail to see the actual boring grind of the game... all they say is "there's plenty to do, you don't have to mine if you don't want to, markets are easy". Mmmkay. This is it.. this is the whole game.

Well, there are some of us who do play solo. Should we be forced to join an organization? The game is about rebuilding civilization. Take a look around, at the current civilization -- is everyone part of some organization? No.

Look, as a simple example: Let's say we could fish in this game. I would build a nice cabin near my Twin Lakes, then I would go out, relax and fish. Then some of the fish I would use to make food for myself, while maybe some I would go to a market and sell.
Now, someone who does not want to fish, or does not know how, but likes fish for dinner, would buy a few fish from me.
    And that would be nice.

THEN YOU WALZ UP with your ORGANIZATION, BOMB the bloody fish from the air, kill a million fish with one stroke and overwhelm the market.

See what happened now? Why the hell would I fish anymore, when you with your organizations flood everything with millions of products. There is no more specializations, different skills and tasks different people would do and thus CREATE A CIVILIZATION.

The whole game is turning into a GIANT INDUSTRIALIZED CLUSTERF*CK where there is no place for actual roleplaying, skills and specializations per individuum.

He is mostly right though, at least for now ... there is nothing to do, just dig
The only way to earn money, so that you could, say, build cool stuff, is to mine. So that's apparently what everyone is doing. There are endless ships and container clusterf*cks parked on every market, so much rubbish parked there, I cannot even enter the bloody market often because of all the Ad displays and "Join us!!! We are the best!11!111" panels everywhere.

Carrot on the stick. Still missing.

There are many aspects of this game I'm unhappy about not just the update, I am a solo player! I like been a solo player! I just feel like they want you to team up with other but I've had alot of bad experience with others! I prefer to play alone or with 1 or 2 of my friends that's it! It really feels like the Devs are alienating solo to small player groups and for me that's not ok!.

Other issues are things are constantly broke in the game and don't get fixed and them taking 2 months to reply to a issue is ridiculous. I know you get the people that say "what do you expect with beta bla bla bla" but what I do expect it to be able to play the game how I want to play! Not how they want me to play! It's meant to be a sandbox style game but it's becoming more directed. Not to mention all the things that are just plain broken! I've had enough of just hoping things get fixed but don't yet there more focused on other things like bringing salvage missions out which is good idea but fix the rest of the game first before adding more problems along with this new update.

Im not going to be a part of this anymore! I play this game to chill out and relax but more and more I play I become frustrated and annoyed!
I can't play this no more it's too frustrating!

So here's one from the discord. Idea courtesy of TheGreatPigeon who assures me he's too lazy to post it. I like it enough I'll put it up and give my thoughts on it.

The basic gist is to allow a construct made from a blueprint to be edited, and for those changes to, themselves, be saved as a blueprint. Unlike a normal blueprint, this new type (We'll call it a 'schematic' for now,) can't be used in a factory by itself or to make new constructs. In order to be used, it requires either a construct the original blueprint was for, or a copy of that blueprint alongside it.

    A usage case:
X designs a fightercraft that's fairly popular. Z finds that it's undergunned and a little slow for his tastes. He adds some more weapons, changes the materials to lighten it up, and adds a sick spoiler just for fun. When he saves this, it becomes a schematic. If he has a copy of X's fighter, he can apply that schematic, in a factory or some other industrial unit, or possibly directly to the construct using guides and his nanoformer. If he has a BP, he can put both into a factory and produce a copy of the fighter with his schematic already applied.

If he has neither the fighter or the blueprint, his schematic doesn't do anything at all.

So this achieves a few things:
1: It allows iterative creativity while still protecting the IP of the original creator.
2: It can drive market sales for all parties. If Z's schematic is really popular, People are going to want to buy a lot more of X's fighter to get to use it!
3: It can allow players/orgs to customize their own variants of a construct without needing the original designer to do the work themselves, but still get paid for their original work.

Now obviously, as a toggle, a BP could still have an "Allow/Disallow schematics" sort of option, to give the original IP holder more control. But I think a system like this could allow for some very interesting interactions to take place, without any enormous degree of additional complexity.

@ShioriStein You didn't get his idea.

It's like dress-up paper doll (google it):
Original BP is the doll itself.
    Mod schematics is the dress.
    Dress without doll is useless.
If you decide to sell both your dress (that you can copy as much as you like) together with doll (which you need to buy each time) cheaper than doll, you'll loose money.

    Hello,
I'm considering to buy some package and need some answer regarding how real it would be to play solo. So the main thing that does not make much sense now is claim system for me. As I saw from dev blogs and interviews your will be able to claim territory but at the same time pvp zone is everywhere except close area from mother ship. So the questions are:
    1) are you allowed to build bases only if territory is claimed? or claim is more for management and taxes purpose?
    2) are there any plans to add kind of reinforce system like in eve? or if someone finds your base/ship - he can destroy or steal everyting at a time?
    3) if I want to play solo with rare visits to other civilization - how real it would be to settle some far away system that won't be found or visited frequently?
    4) I doubt I would be able to play without brakes and I don't like big alliances.  So in the initial idea of the game does it mean that if you are overblobbed - then you have no chances?

I like the idea of the game, and I understand that if developer company will make the game hard enough to stimulate community cooperation - everything should be more or less stable and calm at least for the first time. But there is a big chance of toxic people appearing that would be just camping of some warp points or borders of safe area, etc. So from what I saw and heard on interviews I have feelings that this game is not for solo players that want to explore and build some stuff outside safe zone. Please tell me that I'm wrong

    Hello PoisonKitchen,

I know the situation you're in just too well. 9 months ago, I stood exactly where you are now. I was looking for a simple programm as well, especially for DU designs.
I'm gonna be straight forward and tell you:
SketchUp is the tool you're looking for. It's free, it's super-easy, maybe the easiest program out there, and yet really powerful. The only downside to it is that you'll need exponentially more time for detailed art than you would with professional programs, as they are automated to a degree. SketchUp does not provide any automation, but that is one less thing to worry about since a lot of these automated functions in professional software also cause a few problems if not used 100% correctly all the time. SketchUp also only has less than 10 tools, where professional software has hundreds for everything imaginable. But that also means less to learn, and you can still do everything with those few tools provided.

Maybe another, possible downside is that SketchUp does not have a built-in renderer. There are plugins for that though, some a free, some are cheap, and some will cost you 300 bucks. But rendering is a whole different topic.
Have a look at my first few creations. Each of them took be between three to five hours to finish.

SketchUp also has a free upload platform where you and others can 3D view your models with, I believe, umlimited storage space.

I dont want to spend all my time comparing this game to stuff ive been playing for years (Eve), but I will now and again.

I used to mine my butt off to buy PLEX when they were reasonably low cost (500m isk), but after a while I thought 'hey, this isnt what i want to spend all my game hours doing'. It was no longer fun to play, so I thought ' I dont drink, I dont smoke, I dont piss my RL cash away on horses, so why not pay £50 every 6 months on a sub. Im quite isk ritch in game, but to be honest its all about the game experience and when im on every other night im thinking thats really only about £2 per week. I earn that about every 10 minutes in my RL job.

Im all for options for newbies and vets, what i dont really want to see is PAY TO WIN

    Salut et bienvenue ici !

To the "english please" folks : sorry not every one can read write or understand this language, this must not be a barrier blocking DU to become internationally viral imo.
