    1) Would you build an Atom Bomb and then use it to kill a spider or two? No. No you wouldn't. Plus, YOU NEED CLOUD COMPUTING FOR THE GAME TO RUN PROPERLY. If you read the FAQ Cybrex shared, you would know that, but hey, reading ain't the easiest thing for some I guess.

    2) Do you even know how voxel games even operate? My guess is no, it involved reading "walls of texts" called development kit instructions, hmmm, yes, too much for a hassle to gain any knowledge. It's easier to speak out of ignorance. Saves the trouble of filling your head with FACTS. On that part, do you even know how client-server conversations are being carried out? Or why you even have a 10 GB game in your PC when you play online? No, I guess that would require a CSD Major's degree or the ability to read a few "walls of texts". I guess you know better than me on that as well, I only got the degree, you got ignorance by your side. I guess you think games are streamed to you online and the 10GB in your PC are there so your SSD or HDD won't feel neglected and unloved.

Keep talking. Nobody is taking you seriously. Read the DevBlogs. Read the Ask Us Anything responses and Git Gud at reading "Walls of texts".

The problem with you logic here is, Servers do cost money to run, so if you don't want to pay a monthly fee to play a game, I suggest you stick to the ones that don't have this set-up.  MMO's on the other hand HAVE this set up, and you can expect to pay a monthly fee to keep their server going.  All of these BS arguments about not wanting to pay can be boiled down to that simple idea.  I am glad they plan to charge monthly, and will have no problem paying them.

Would you prefer us to explain reason to a guy who hasn't read any DevBlog and wants DUAL to become a Space Engineers clone with all its crashing glory instead? He hasn't even seen the ideas the devs have on customising a cockpit on the inside to make it more personal. He probably thinks the game is FPS combat as well. Care to explain that part to him?

Or would you like to explain why EVE and WoW got a P2P model with WoW even mimicking the PLEX system for their game from EVE?

Could you at least expain to him why Private Servers won't even exist for the game, since the tech they got for it is patented and owned by the NQ's CEO and Lead Dev of the game, JC Baillie?

The original post I made, was a reference to all those things he didn't bother to read or research for that matter.

Real life is free to play, but pay to win. Games can never truly be a closed economy because players will always be able to trade real worth value for in game value.

    Hi Everyone,

I just got confirmation this morning, so I figured it was a good time to make this public...

DU Explorers will be doing a live Q&A session with JC Baillie this Saturday (September 17th) at 10am CST, 5pm (GMT +2) !!!

I had assembled a list of questions that I want to try and squeeze through, but I also want to give the opportunity to viewers to ask any questions that they might have about Dual Universe.

We'll have moderators in chat answering everything that can be answered based on information we already know, and moderating questions to discuss on the show itself with JC.

I'll continue to update this thread as more information becomes available, but for now, we're all set to go for Saturday :-)

A most pleasant day to everyone on the Forums. The Aether's new logo is ready and if you can spot them, a few of our members are already sporting their new signatures.

    Why the Hexagons?
The hexagon is symbolic of the Hive Mind.

We at the Aether are not an organisation. We are not an Empire. We are not a Kingdom or a Nation.

We are a Family. We are a Body. We are a Team. Nothing less, nothing more.

One in All. All in One. One for All. All for One. For any task, for any problem, for any challenge, for any enemy and for any ally--we are One: Unbroken, Unbent and Undaunted. We work together, fight together, live together and die together. We know each other, we trust each other and any one that is a threat to the Unity we share is rejected, removed and destroyed from among us. In whatever place or situation we find ourselves, we are United and we stand together.

The hexagon is the symbol of Territory.

We will not give up what is ours. We will not back down. We will not forget. What has been entrusted into our hands is our responsibility. Our land and our territory is ours, not yours. It belongs to us and those we share it with. Trifle with a Hive and the rue is yours to bear alone. What belongs to us is ours to protect; ours to advance and develop; ours to vanquish and ours to explore. Our territory will be the envy and awe of all who behold it: such is the power and the Spirit of the Aether.

The Hexagon in the Background is a Shield

We protect our own, we shield our kind, we fight for our family and we never abandon our friends. Whatever belongs to the Aether and whatever is entrusted to it is kept in that Shield. You are not permitted to enter, you are not permitted to destroy. This Shield has sharp edges of its own: you are warned.

Why Blue, why Green, why White?

Electric blue is the renowned colour of electricity. Green is the colour of Nature and prosperity. White is the colour of Light and Purity. Together, they pass a message of  an advanced, clean and efficient Team. Minimalism is our choice, functionality our concern, perfection our objective and technology is our message. Our colours symbolise who we are and how we will operate.

    The Ring and Circle

The circle is the symbol of wholeness and equality. It is the form of an all protective shield. There is no nobility in the Aether, you are what you work to be and you are rewarded for being what you love to be, for doing what you love to do and for advancing the cause and the entity of the Family and Team that you belong to.

The ring encloses our multitude of allies, held safely within the Aether's interests. Nevertheless, it is open at both sides: you came in and you can leave as well. We value our friends and help those who help us, however, because they came in doesn't mean they can't go out. In many cases, we may be the ones to bring them in, and in many cases, we may be the ones to drive them out.

We grow upwards and take root downwards. Our foundation is sure and our future is bright. There is fluidity in our operation, superior intelligence in our existence and protection in our hands.

The Aether calls you. Will you answer?

About the limits of ingame programming, I can just tell you for now that all the coding allowed will be in LUA and should limited to automatize some basic things (like elementary AIs for droids, autopilots for spaceships, automatized defense systems and such things). More on this matter will be revealed in the future

I think Outlandish has a point. I dont care about the members anyone can cook the books, but when it comes to the things they say and promise i think its false advertising. You really cant have a true pirate socially or org and have rules or promises to have a organized pirate group. You can have loose alliances with people in BOO but without order or discipline (which they are about freedom of choice and self governing) you cant promise everyone will get along or help out. It is more of a lifestyle than a org

I think you missed the point of I Don't Care.  if that is how someone wants to try and recruit numbers, I Don't Care.  If there are members out there that want to join an outlaw organization, and can't come to the same understanding as you have, I don't care.  if there are players here now that only want to join the biggest perceived organization, I still don't care.  I only worry about my own Organization, and the ones I belong to.

the game is way to out for me to care about petty things like this.

this, if true, will self correct when the game launches anyways.  I honestly don't worry about what other organizations are doing.  if they are doing crooked things, they will be found out eventually, and either way it doesn't effect me.

Why do you have to use caps for the title? If you want visibility, get it by proposing interesting arguments.
Why are you judging devs and players, even insulting them to prove your point?
Why can't you find in the already existing threads the reasons P2P is the best way?

yes, stupid, greedy devs, how dare they to want a secure income for paying servers and salaries, i mean, if i look for a job i also always take a initial payment thats aproximatly 4-5 months of work worth without a monthly salary, i can do extra work and be payed for that, right? totally legit...

The claims you make about my financial reasoning are false.

Cash shops do more damage in terms of content than good. Instead of releasing content for players to explore in game, such as a tailoring class, and making the blueprints to making clothes available in game somehow, you simply whip out the ol' credit / debit card and buy some magic gold coins to buy all the skimpy bikini's and school girl outfits you can handle.

For the exact reasons you said about greed is why if the game is either free or buy to play + cash shop is why I'll abandon ship. Voxel building or no voxel building, I wont stand for being nickel and dimed to death anymore, with a subscription at least I know what Im signing on for.

If they implement new clothes in such a way, that you could buy the DU "Plex" and convert it to tokens, AND they are permanent blueprints that you can learn for your characters. I might be ok with that. Or allowing players to buy and sell the tokens on a currency exchange in the game. An exclusive real money only cash shop, or BOP one use items, no get out, its 2016 its time for freedom! It's time to drive any company that goes Free to Pay into the ground.

There's already numerous threads about this, but NQ has summed up the issue quite well in one of their Devblogs, in which your points are addressed:

    https://devblog.dualthegame.com/2016/04/08/monetization-player-happiness-and-economic-viability/

I don't think it's fair to dismiss NQ as "greedy" or those of us who want the P2P model as "gamers with more money than sense", especially given the advantages that P2P games provide (outlined in the aforementioned devblog).

The Cash Shop F2P model doesn't work in a game like Dual Universe, nor does it really make sense for a company that wants to see itself as more of a "Tech Company" than a "Content Company". It also doesn't really work in the context of a global single shard server, as there wouldn't really be a fair way to price items across different regions and guarantee enough income to sustain their basic business needs.

After spending some time on the Dual Universe Facebook, kickstarter page and these forums I have noticed a lot of very negative feedback about the subscription price model. It actually got me down a bit seeing how many people were saying things like "sub game, I'm out." And i just wanted to say to people who may be feeling a little down about all the negative feedback(The NQ Dev and community manager as well):

    Remember Overwatch.

For those that don't know Overwatch got a lot of flak when they announced that it would be $40 pc/$60 console. In fact I was able to find this post from 10 months ago simply by Googling Overwatch overpriced:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/truegaming/comments/3rughx/so_overwatch_will_be_40_am_i_alone_in_thinking/

At the time I remember what felt like a HUGE amount of the player base saying very similar things about Overwatch that are now being said about DU. "Full price for an Arena pvp style game, I'm out." Players saying things like the devs were out of touch, that these types of pvp games are all f2p now,  it should be f2p and players can just buy heroes like every other game. The blizzard dev team knew that hero swapping was simply too important to the games concept to allow for a f2p and buy heroes style game. They knew that to have a good game they needed to sell all the heroes in a package so that teams weren't held back by a player who only owned two heroes and was getting counter picked. In short they priced the game the way it needed to be priced to make the game work. Overwatch has become extremely successful and has sold millions of copies.

I just wanted to say to the dev team if you make a good game people will buy it and pay a sub fee or whatever pay system. Just do what is best for the game and the vision you have for it. To the community and the dev team, if you are feeling a little down, like I was, about the amount of negative feedback just remember that other games have gone through similar problems and come out extremely successful.

Good day to you, VioletBannana. I know your fear, and I've felt it too, however, I beg to differ.

Factories in Dual Universe will hardly be anything like factories in Eve or the like. They will be complex, hard to assemble and quite ironically, factories will need to be built and someone might even industrialise production of factories and factory components. Resources will need to go into their production and I very much doubt that factories will be a hundred percent efficient. Building them will likely require a certain skill level and like most other things, factories are constructs or buildings that can and will be destroyed.

The First and Second World War taught humanity a lot. One of the most important things is this: Industrial areas are precious diamonds and valuable targets for destruction. Having a massive ensemble of factories without the man power or security to back them up will lead to a worse crash for you than 1929.

You are thinking it requires too much fuel? Just wait until you see the gas/power bill a floating city will dump on your door. The advantage with a capital ship is that it can move to space and boasts a lot more functions than an impressive engineering feat."

First I pick a role for what I want to design, then I look at concept art from the game to see if there is any useful information to be gleaned. Then I decide on what class (size) of ship that would be fun to think about fulfilling chosen role. Bust out the pencil and paper, pick aesthetic for hull, draw, at least two angles very rough interior overlay showing potentially where you want things to go. Speculate about the thrust capacity of titan-class engine elements. Add in cool features, while hoping that the elements required will be actual things in game. Refresh the Dual Universe youtube page, twitter, and devblog, and forums out of hope. Speculate some more. Wildy speculate otherwise known as day dream. Come back to reality. Use the blank space on the paper to define how you want your, mighty starship/meek unassuming freighter/mech battle suit/magical unicorn merry go round, to move and why, add appropriate elements.  Then huzzah! It's a thing potentially capable of coming to life(ish) in DU. But I am sure there is more I could do...
