Love it how ppl don't see thé problem with their reasoning. If T1 really does generate so much quanta then prices will OF COURSE drop when everybody mines it with Autominers. Thus leading to less winnings. Thus Rendering your little calculation utterly useless

Oh, expensive as NQ mentioned it in the video certainly also means financially for them, they actually said as much.

Frankly, the spin to try and get away from that by assuming many here do not understand how expensive can be interpreted in dev terms is frankly a cheap shot and ppssibly targeted at the fanboys so they can start using that argument in discussions.. And Pann knows very well how these things work, she is not exactly without CM experience

I'm not saying you are a fanboy here, your post is actually fairly well rounded even when it is duplicated..

And I do not agree that it's about "me, me, me" for players who are critical at all and honestly, that is just an attempt at firefighting and downplaying what really are some very valid arguments.

NQ has always had trouble being concise and avoid creating more questions by the way they "explain" or word things. It is certainly true that NQ has a habbit of being nerds and using language suitable for that audience, lacking the understanding they need to "dumb it down" to not confuse the situation.

Pann, like me, is of the "old guard". We come from a time of where communication happened though Usenet and BBS.. I agree with her that forums are by far the better platform for a dev to communicate than Discord, which is a very volatile and singe post based platform. Problem here is though that she (and NQ) stop short at driving the use fo the forums though:

Being more visible there Using the thread based format offered there to engage at atime that suits Provide meningful feedback to the community to the point where it becomes a more viable platform for "direct" information than Discord.
Then there is alternative platforms like Guilded which offers both a timeline based and thread based format and has a LOT more functionality and features which would be greatly beneficial to NQ and the community. Guilded is a very active developer and NQ seeking a collaboration with them would actually be beneficial for both and provide free and wide exposure for the game.

Problem is that last I checked and verified, the community managers with NQ really just do Cm work on the side and are tasked with other things as well. And with Naerais being absent (not by choice and I hope she gets well soon) they are understaffed as it is.

Unfortunately, all this once again boils down to one of the long time weak links in NQ.. Communication

There is also the small issue that DS6 has shown us that DU would not actually be able to handle a city with active players and constructs.

Resources will never incentivise city building as that is more of a social structure mechanic. City building design solution would be more like this.

Social. DU has a couple of novelty cities that has popped up but there is absolutely no use for them. Cities are currently nothing more than empty ghost towns with the only purpose of filling up your voxel cache. Possible solution to this is too introduce a residency mechanic to give towns and cities a purpose. Mechanic could work as followed: Every character created has 2 possible residency declarations. A player can use these to declare residency on a static or space core. When a territory reaches a certain amount of resident players the territory owner can declare the territory as a village. This will give all residents certain bonuses while within the territory and some lesser bonuses for visitors. Bonuses could be anything from Indy to put down skills. As the territory gets more residents it can evolve to a town, city and metropolis. As it evolves the bonuses gets bigger and better and once you reach city state neighbouring territories with the same owner can share resident count and bonuses so expansion can continue.

If NQ has changed their plans to expand the universe and drive players in a way they will venture out then resetting what's in the ground every 6 months or so would not be a terrible idea. At he same time though, that reset would need to be random so that you will not have bots parked on a tile with high value ores, just mining it every cycle.

The whole problem with the territory claims is that they were supposed to drive communities to build cities and create their own facilities. More and more that is hollowed out to only being mining and/or industry as nothing else is really provided for and NQ has yet to give any indication on where those intial plans have gone. The whole metaverse idea really is nowhere to be seen at this time.

Gl with that. Devs ignore this request for years now. Either they simple CAN'T change it or they don't WANT to. Either way, i said it before and i say it again:

Their UI dev should be fired. Never seen a more clunky, uninteresting, useless and very bad UI

What NQ/DU needs more then anything else is more customers/players. So not even NQ would consider making the game worse on purpose..   right?

On the other hand, what really get to me is their inability to execute anything in a sensible fashion.
Having some kind of mechanics that will free up inactive tiles is actually a good thing. But their implementation is truly and utterly bonkers, and riddled with so many obvious problems that it is mind blowing they are even considering it for the live servers.

    1. As long as players are paying the subscription, they should own their own constructs. This was after all supposed to be a persistent building MMO universe. In fact this was the number one selling point of this game during the Kickstarter. An inactive tile means the players has stopped paying a subscription, not that they have not logged in the last week and done their daily chores as dictated by NQ (which is something that goes directly against the "make your own game" motto of the initial game premise).

    2. The main feature of this game is building. So please NQ, for the love of... Stop making road blocks for people who actually want to build. You are now directing a large percentage of player time and building resources into just maintaining tiles.

    3. Not everyone is a billionaire. I have been playing this game since day one, and currently I have something like 20mill in my account. I don't care about building a financial empire, running missions or grinding just for the sake of it. I just need enough resources to do my building experiments, enjoying the game the way I want, when I want to. All in accordance with the "make your own game" premise you said we should be able to do.

So any frequent login requirement for chores and territory tax above some symbolic sum, means I cannot play my game. And is in effect a death sentence for me and I suspect a lot of the solo creative players. You know.. The people who actually make interesting content for the game. Content you are now trying to remove from the game..

I think main misconception from community about this developlment, that NQ still actually making game for players (so must be really bothered with feedback or do other things positivly contributing to overall success).

I doubt it. As I see it, its now pretty much simulation of development/surivaval/waiting game for at least several years now. Like even latest conference video, look how sad they are, forced to pretend to be exited or something. Entropy face alone like "please, adventurer, end my misery". I doubt they (actually) have any faith left themeselves in what they are doing (everyone can see all 200-300 people still playing).

So, as long Quanta Nick bankrolls whole thing (why is another question), it will stay same. Just slowly make something that looks like development moving forward, with fancy named updates (changing nothing, or even making it worse) and keep your linkedin profile ready.

At least, its my impression of actual sad logic behind all this. Why its happening.

Just gonna put out there, I don't remember auto-miners being promised during kickstarter, but I do remember Avatar vs Avatar combat and territory warfare ?

I'll go a step further, and point out the trailer for the game has none of this stuff mentioned, but territory warfare is still in there ?

tl;dw - none of this stuff is making me excited to play the game, when there are still glaring features missing (that are still advertised) to the point of being completely forgotten about by the community.

You are incorrect. There will still be an inflation because the alt runners can easily make a billion a day. However the wealth divide between players and play styles will widen far further than it even is now. This will not be sustainable and another section of the player base will join the pvpers in vanishing from the game slowly but surely.

Oh and here too. Maybe tax would've been better to be implemented via power systems. Would've made up for MORE gameplay in the long run. And more fun. And, you know, balanced and not Just "hurr durr all have to pay because it's EZ to implement"
