In the video someone said smth Like "If you properly mine a territory you will make more than taxes"

What does this entail? Using all your charges or whatever every day ? Using those charges only once per day/week?

Because as i see it, this argument doesnt make any sense. You force players to do smth they don't want to do in order to keep their territory. Making it a job to login every day. Gg NQ

Also "move to sanc!" Is a pretty bad and useless suggestion either as someone said in that video. Moving 25 quadrillion elements, bases and whatever there......sure. hard slap in the face.

I can't speak for others, but we are way, way past the constructive feedback stage. In fact we got past that point years ago.
And I suspect that is part of why for many people including Blaze left the discussion. There is a limit to how long you can invest and stay motivated in something, and not get anything in return.

And to be honest, only reason I am still here is some weird combination of "sunken cost" fallacy and morbid fascination watching a train wreck in slow motion.

Lethys reacted to blundertwink in What concepts from sci-fi movies/books/etc. would you like to see in DU?
By "chase the red square" I mean you should be able to see what you're fighting. Combat should be closer and slower.

Lock and fire isn't the problem, it's that combat is only lock and fire....with no other depth like you said.

I would prefer it being more strategic and not some "twich-based" insane skill-cap PvP. I never implied that is the best model for DU.

Combat now has no drama, no engagement, no appeal. That's where it needs to draw inspiration from T.V. and movies, not reality. If combat isn't at least mildly interesting to watch, it probably won't be interesting to play. And like it or not, we live in a streaming world where huge marketing value is driven from streamers -- it's free money NQ is leaving on the table.

As for "blindly complaining" -- NQ doesn't read shit, anyway. "Good" feedback with intricate implementation ideas is exactly as useful as vague complaints.

Even for a highly engaged studio, that's probably true. The devs don't care about detailed implementation ideas -- they know that when people say something "isn't fun", they mean "not engaging" -- and ultimately, it's a design problem they need to fix. That's the point of feedback.

Maybe you don't find random complaints like "it isn't fun" helpful, but for the dev it actually is important feedback to listen to. For every one person with a detailed implementation idea, there's a lot more that have a general sentiment but no clue how to "fix" their design...it really isn't up to any player to judge what feedback is useful, especially for a studio that doesn't really engage with feedback anyway.

I especially loved how they had a questions thread....complained that people weren't asking enough questions and were making the thread "too busy to review"....never answered any questions....then locked the thread.

They've literally spent more time complaining about their own forum's organization than engaging about the update.

NQ has definitely established a culture around their company of designing the game on a whim with no long-term plans and doing as little customer interaction as humanly possible. It's a...bold combination for sure.

100% they will. Their next item on the roadmap is "first time user experience" which will certainly need to deal with clutter on Sanctuary.

New players won't enjoy hiking 20 minutes to find an empty tile, especially when the "tutorial" tells you to go back and forth to the market multiple times.

I really wonder how player densities on Sanctuary will affect performance, too. This whole patch can very quickly become counterproductive to all their stated goals.

But even with unlimited funds, I seem to remember someone saying there is a limit to how much tax you can pay ahead of time?.
So you are still unable to leave the game for some extended time period.

So NQ is basically holding your content hostage and saying you better play the game, or else there might be some "accident" you know.. nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

To be brutally honest such cursed games have little bit of endless fat loss or junkie story. Like its always "diet starts next monday" or "just last one dose" thing, so it like "game will be good in X years" or "next patch", its "just alpha/beta/recently released".

Question is, is it really so, or just mental acrobatics of coping?

Because its not 5 years to just wait, its 5 years to survive having costly servers. Quite a difference. With current vector of events (if its not magicly changed), project will be closed and pretty much forgotten much faster. Like Tabula Rasa, per exemple.

Lethys reacted to blundertwink in Would you rather play on a PvE or PvP server?
There is literally no PvE right now -- there's no "environment" to be against....so there's no point in a PvE server, because there would be no conflict. Games without conflict are not really games, they are building tools or sandboxes.

That said, there's not much point to a PvP server, either -- PvP is only barely implemented and is still so rough, clunky, and poorly balanced no serious PvP gamer will find the appeal, here.

This is one of the few games where even watching PvP is so insanely boring there's no point streaming.

What they really need is to implement either PvP or PvE in a complete, engaging, and clean way.

The trajectory so far again emphasizes NQ's general culture of hubris and an overwhelming lack of humility.

Here (yet again) we have a lot of players telling them why this isn't going to work well...that the idea is right, but the implementation is very wrong.

IMO, this will go live pretty close to "as-is" because NQ doesn't believe players have any useful feedback. The last PTS update underscores that idea -- very few substantial tweaks around the balance of new features.

We've seen this path before with 0.23.

Back then, they released a statement defending their changes and talking about how players just don't understand how to play their game. How their opinions were simply wrong.

NQ struggles with tech. They struggle with customer service. They certainly struggle with design...but they also struggle with humility and being open-minded enough to see the flaws in their bizarre "play it by ear" design style.

They promised that they would improve around communication, but they didn't put any real effort into it. They just don't believe feedback is important.

A lot of pride for a game that's spent over 7 years in the alpha stage...and still struggles with really fundamental issues that make the game look like it is still early in development.

The new CEO needs to make some real changes. Frankly, they need to fire some people with too much hubris and not enough talent and shift more resources to design and development -- whatever development path they are on, it hasn't been working for a long time.

NQ has made more that enough consessions to the "I no want pewpew" part of the playerbase and frankly, has yet to really address the issues surrounding PVP.

DU is not a building and crafting game at it's core, it is a game where all of its pillars _should_ be equally represented. There is no single "central" pillar around which everything else is built. So while I will counter anyone claiming this is a PVP game, a the same time I will do the same when someone claims it's centric around another one of the game's pillars.

Just becasue at present the remaining playerbase is largely focussed on building and design, that does not mean NQ can or should ignore everything else. In fact, without NQ addressing PVP, getting to the point where safezones can be lifted (except for the massive Alioth/Madis/Thades triangle which they for some reason commited to maintaining). This game is incomplete and IMO remain non functional without proper PVP incentives which include both the options to engage in pewpew and the options to avoid/counter then and/or minimize the risk of engagments being fatal to justify the risk vs the reward.

In other words, NQ needs to start actually designing the game, bringing the separate mechanics together and do so before they even consider DU to be ready for "release". Right  now i's all just loose sand.

The question is, how many of those inactive tiles are players just waiting for a game that is fun to play?
To me at least, it seems for sure that a much higher percentage of them will never return and cancel the subscription once they start losing tiles for not being good citizens and playing the game at the frequency and style dictated by NQ.

@Kobayashi I just answered you in the other thread, but I will do the same here also.

NQ has strongly hinted that the game will be released by the end of this year. So Demeter going live is pretty much going to be the "finished" game they are going to release.
Is the game ready to be released? No, not even close. But as mentioned, NQ has been going in circles for many years now, and they are running out of money.

Did not want to pull the "welcome the new CEO" off topic so I'm posting separate..

A new CEO is potentially good.. It may mean NQ found some money to pay what seems to be an established game producer as CEO.

Nouredine Abboud is a game producer with some decent titles to his credit but nothing like Dual Universe which is a very different beast alltogether. Also, what makes him CEO material from being a producer. I gueess we'l lhave to wait and see.

It's interesting for sure and could go either way, for now I gueess I'll be cautiously optimistic but if the core attitude and behavior of NQ (especially in regards to how they engage and communicate with their community) does not change, this will not make much difference.

What I'd like to know is how this will fit in the plans, as he is from France/in Paris, does NQ plan to keep two expensive locations running?

Then, what is hiding in plain sight is this; "As we reach the final stretch leading to the launch"
Not sure but it would be interesting when the rest of the game will be brought in, before or after this "launch"

And with the rest of the game, I meean (among other things and in no particular order):
Territory warfare AvA, CvA and AvC combat Player Markets New solar systems Stargates pets

I do not see how NQ will be able to hit a 2021 deadline for release so I guess that means they are shooting for Q1 2022.

    NQ: We want your feedback!

Players:  Ore yields are too low, taxes too high. Here are several different ways to make this update viable.

NQ: PTS Open again! With no changes to anything players were worried about not being changed.

I mean, I have to give credit where credit is due, they are freaking experts at just ignoring feedback and pushing things anyways.
