WooTiPanTz reacted to NQ-Deckard in Static Construct Altitude Limit
    Hello Noveans,

It has recently come to our attention that a number of static constructs have been deployed at an altitude above what we previously had defined as the vertical limit of around 1000m.  At this time we are unsure why this limit is not being applied as intended, and we are currently investigating this issue in order to resolve this.

As we are revisiting this limit while it is not currently functioning, we will be exploring our options to implement a more adjustable approach in order to have different limits for different planets. If successful we will also eventually be including this value at a later date in the shipped atlas.lua file, allowing Lua control units to also read this value for each planet and use it to fly above static constructs.

Why are you stifling my dream of building a tower that connects a moon to a planet!?
We also want to be clear about the reason for this limit, it is not here to stifle your dreams of building large towers and structures made of multiple static constructs. It is here, so we can ensure a reasonably safe boundary layer for atmospheric flight by all our players without the concern of encountering a random building in your flightpath while flying at high speeds. Chances are, the build limits will likely be slightly more accommodating than the previous system and allow for slightly more building height in the end, this however remains to be seen.

So what about the existing constructs that are not adhering to this restriction?
Well, as we are unsure why this build limit suddenly deactivated and we are refining it anyway. We will allow these constructs to remain for two weeks beyond the implementation of the new height restriction system. Two weeks after the new restrictions are in place, we will begin removing  or moving any static constructs beyond the defined altitude limit of each planet to ensure they are not inside the boundary layer. Keep an eye on the upcoming change logs for a list of the altitudes for each planet.

I hope this clears up any and all confusion on the topic, and thank you all for reading.

WooTiPanTz reacted to NQ-Naerais in Market Clean Up - Today!
Despite our recent efforts to expand and clear out Market 6, we are still getting reports about performance and clutter. We want to assure our players that we understand your frustration and are still working to find better permanent solutions.

Meanwhile, we will be addressing clutter across Alioth this weekend. Our plan is as follows:
Dynamic constructs that have not had direct interaction with their owner over a set duration (currently 30 days*) will be hidden.  Constructs at the market that violate our rules,  Code of Conduct and EULA will be removed.
If your construct is hidden, you can unhide (recover) it by using the Fetch tool. To do this, right-click on it in the Construct list on your Map screen. Any constructs that you own, whether visible or hidden, will appear on this list.

Fetch functionality now works for organization-owned constructs as well. For hidden constructs that belong to your organization, your legates can retrieve them via that same functionality.

Our customer support team is at the ready if you still need assistance recovering your constructs. Simply ping our Live Support staff in the in-game help chat with “@GM” or file a ticket on our support page and we will dispatch help right away!

Please note that this is intended only as a temporary measure to aid performance and improve your experience when visiting these areas.

We look forward to seeing the results from these changes over the weekend.

    May your frames be plenty.

It took me a whole 5 minutes to get the information how NQ can request priority access to a Shadow for development purposes.

And what is preventing you from asking any of the many who have reported this issue to help test by installing additional tools or gather data from their Shadow PC?

Frankly, from the answer it seems that NQ does not actually understand what Shadow is of how it functions especially in relation to other platforms. The issue is very distinct, has a 100% reproduction rate at a very much specific point in the load in phase, so what happens around the 75-78% point when loading the game as that is where the crash occurs.

The answer really evades the question. And the answer really only shows that NQ does not have the first idea on where to start on this. I am also pretty sure that access to a shadow PC can be arranged on shorter notice for NQ. (and no, the wait time for activation is not a year)

Shadow is a full Windows PC, it is not a platform which is limited to loading specific games. It is a windows PC with a dedicated GPU and the specs meet or exceed the requirements to run DU.

There will be no wipe. You seem to forget ever so slightly, how much time has been spent on DU among the community. Wiping is not an option, going into BETA you signaled to the player base that whatever we do from now on matters, GIANT station and multicore bases have been constructed which are impossible to put back together with blueprints. Items stored in boxes won't be transferred screwing up big indies and storages, there is no possible way to preform a wipe that would be more fair than the universe we have today, sure some might have exploited for riches, but guess what, riches don't last forever, only hard work keeps you rich. By wiping, you're removing negligible advantages from exploiters while destroying the honest players hard work. Only a small minority of players who've suffered through the last months of DU (who are a minority of the original player base) will take a sucker punch like that and "start over". Come up with sustainable solutions to whatever problems may arise instead of even thinking about wiping a persistent universe.

We need you to let us know you are reading our responses. For instance your post on: 0.24 Phase One - Discussion Thread NO Dev or staff have responded to the posts there. It seems you start posts but I rarely see staff respond or interact after that. For instance what are you going to do about the issues mentioned in the post referred to above?

Could NQ remove the "phase1" label here as that was clearly just an excuse for delivering less than expected on 0.24 and has since been forgotten as we're already moving to 0.25 now

Nearly every white material is now some sort of silverisch sh*t. Now there is no possibility to build white ships besides building it with plastic, brick or concret.
Aged alu is more white than white alu and matte white carbon fiber is a silver flickering mess.
    I m very disappointed.

    Cache reduction to 5-10GB...wtf guys?
Problem: Full market places. NQ Solution: more Parking spaces?! Rly? Seriously to reduce the lag you build more structures?

    From patch notes:
Metal structures are allways coated with paint or electroplating or similar coating.

We had no paint tool. But material did represent nice and interesting colors as well as in some cases electroplated metals. So we were able to create illusions of something more what game was allowing.

    @NQ:

So you decided that using materials creative way were not intended way to play this game also and took it away.

At same time you wiped hundreds of hours of creative work form builders.

I agreed that this is beta, but play hours are not.

Time spent playing is our own time in real world. And it is not infinite for us. Please stop wasting our limited time in real life. My life (what is left of it) is too short for this.

so if they don't emit light then they need to change the name   right now they glow   so Glowing Voxel ?     Not trying to split hairs or start an argument but the reason they dimed them down is because they turned the contrast way way up.   This would make them so bright it would be blinding.

Give us the contrast controls!  I want mine to be turned down where it was so everything is not washed out looking.  thank you

So, voxels doesn't cas shadows anymore, the voxels textures are just a crap (bye bye matte copper, glossy carbon, galvanised aluminium, etc) lua parameters aren't availables, primary container link is lost everytime, the refresh on the wallet windows make it litteraly unusable until you're a keyboard bot and type at speed of light. Not to talk about the tutorials and the chalenges that aren't work at all. And I probably forget a lot of other things.

The 0.24 was expected to be more polished than that, since players had tested it in PTS stage. I though NQ was learn something valuable with 0.23 when they offer the Public Test Server before pushing a release live. Is the PST usefull if NQ doesn't use as it must be used : a test stage where all the things are tested, polished, to push a relatively stable and playable update live.
Only NQ considere there was an urge to release 0.24. Player base didn't. We don't give a fuck with your agenda and plans, NQ. All we want is a playable game where each release is the garantee that all the players has done will not be ruined.

Next time, NQ, take your time, but really, and listen your player base when they ask you to wait to push a release live or when they tell you there is a bug here and there (I sent multiple bug reports and only one has recieved a positive and effective response, all the other was ellusives).

Hopefully some of the metals will be hotfixed but I'm pretty happy about the forward momentum so far.
But one thing I was suuuper disappointed about is that the rotation tool still doesn't have multiple axes of rotation ?

Please, please, please please please please for the sake of my sanity and saving everyone's time from having to use work-arounds, PLEASE add more rotation axes to the element rotation tool!  Just like, have the X be default, hold shift for Y, hold alt for Z.  I swear to you, this will be the single most valuable change to the editing tool set you could make.

I think the game looks and runs better in almost everyway. Sadly the exceptions make the game look horrific. Many metal materials have a weird glazed ceramic looking reflectivity. This has an especially bad looking result on Galvanized and Stained metals as they have a really extreme normal map that causes this glaze to look like metalkc leprosy. It seems to be most noticable during the day when the metals are reflecting the atmosphere. Is this a known issue? Is it going to be fixed?

    This went to total opposite
    Game is darker and gray...
    - sand is darker and ugly
    - i'we used white pattern iron and galvanized white iron to get at least some light and playability in my building. Now it is all gray and dark.
    - glossy materials were interesting and created nice effects. Not anymore Why you did spoil that. It may be 100% realistic, but hey come on this is SCIFI space game. Do not try ti make this a dull realism simulator.
    - if materials are not grayed out or darker textures get overexposed if light is used

The new ambient light is a terrible idea. We've lost any ability to create 'dark' areas. The 'dark seedy understation' on Utopia is now just an overexposed nightmare. It looks like Todd Howard showed up, told everyone that the dark is scary and now we've just got this permanent dusk at night.

Areas that are completely hidden from the sun are no longer dark. No doubt this has ruined countless builds.

If you're having trouble with light on planets or underground, fine.. but why bork up the shadows on constructs? Quite honestly, the lighting on the constructs was the best in the game, and now it's just Fortnite. Space is dark.. that's the thing about the absence of light.... it's dark.

Lighting/shadows vs voxels and elements completely borked now. As it was they did sort of leak through some voxels/shiny material (which all looks like cheap spray paint instead of awesome glossy metals, btw - for instance check GLOSSY Lithium now looks like cheap silver spray paint.) and if you designed a voxel hood with holes in it you could get some really kool effects using the Vertical lights. Also, to create drama and other kool effects I was using things like containers to block light. this no longer works at all. Light just blasts right through all elements now and the voxel hoods no longer work.
Luminescent glass - while it's great that the glare is cut, you went a bit too far. Also, it no longer casts a light from what I can tell. While I applaud the more matte shaders for the matte materials you all went too far and reduced the emissive qualities a bit too much. Hope you all try to look into this as for some of us trying to eek out a nitch, in DU, you just broke us. I may be a newbie posting here, I am far from a newbie to material shaders in game development.
