  1. Yeah, I would suspect that economy is going to be a more important part of the game than PvP.
  2. The second pre-alpha test was today so I though that I would update the community page again. Doesn't seen that anything major has occurred, just the normal steady growth.   3. Just to be a different opinion here, PvP is one of the least important gameplay aspects in DU to me and I am a pre-alpha backer. Many of us that don't care about PvP just don't participate in these discussions so don't get too depressed with the bias in here. Also remember that PvP was a stretch goal, so it wasn't even NQ's top priority.
  4. Ooo, it does look like it. Although they may just be decoration and nothing more.
  5. That would certainly make large ships interesting/realistic. You would actually have multiple other "computers" hooked up to the main control computer of the ship in order to access supplementary or even third-party code.
  6. I am only gathering the organizations with at least 3 members at the moment because it is already a ton of data with the system that I am using. And I am updating it manually about once every two weeks.
  7. I would assume that there is going to be an API even if it's ad hoc from users.

  9. I figured that after the first pre-alpha test would be a good time to create another map. This time I let everything resettle and so I think it's a bit better sorted. Although it is hard to tell what has changed, it looks prettier... I hear that Polestria may be showing signs of life again. EDIT: Forgot to mention that we have some kind of strange chain ring forming around the TU...   10. There are already plans in the works to have universal games (think Olympics, but with speeders).
  11. You check your email at least 10 times a day to see if the download/discord links have been released.
  12. I believe it was mostly a purge of inactives and users who were actually members of other organizations no longer in CSYN.
  13. Somebody sneezed over in Cinderfall Syndicate and a bunch of members went flying. We'll see if the members remaining are made of heavier stuff. Another 10 or so new organizations to hit 3+ members and The Blue Moon ᵀᵃᵛᵉʳⁿ is steadily growing. Also Polestria is on the right side...   14. Okay even ignoring whatever the devs throw into DU in a PVE catagory, how hard would it be to simulate PVE with LUA? I am sure that there are going to be some heavy RP places like there are in other sandbox games.
  15. They have said there there are probably going to be server wipes during at least Pre-Alpha and Alpha, but the goal (I don't know if it's working yet) is for any blueprints of constructs that you have made to persist until full game release so that you don't lose design(/coding?) time.
  16. I would also suspect the same. It's a shame that people who arrived late don't have access to the starter packs, but on the other hand, you have to reward your long-term backers.

  20. I personally am going to be more interested in endurance/suitability since I will probably be focusing on trade or exploration in the full game.
  21. I would also like to be able to have maybe a day to make sure that everyone can download it without the download servers crashing.

While this system may work for some games, the devs have already said several times that it isn't how the payment plan is going to work in DU and there was a really large discussion just last week (I think) on the forums about a very similar alternate payment method. (You may find the arguments interesting, it wasn't really my thing., too much drama mixed in.)

  24. That's actually pretty surprising, I had assumed that they weren't even going to mess with water being dynamic at all. Did the water actually fill in to lever or just "flow" like in Minecraft when you have a single water source?
