  1. You stated in your previous post This isn't a game in the sense that they can just give you a copy of the code, and you get to play it forever. It's an unfinished project that requires them to maintain servers so you can play in a shared persistent world. These are your words and I was showing that the game is not marketed as an unfinished game but a full release. You also used the excuse that they have to pay server costs and devs, I stated that ALL online games have to do that even ones that are free to play and cost £0 to buy the game. You said they would still be developing it as it is this "unfinished project", I stated that they are just not interested in the game any longer. Any money you spend per month on DU is not going to be used on DU, instead you will be financing their other 3 projects.
  2. This isn't a game in the sense that they can just give you a copy of the code, and you get to play it forever. It's an unfinished project that requires them to maintain servers so you can play in a shared persistent world. Well not according to their advert which states:- Dual Universe is a first-person Sci-Fi MMO built and driven by players, in a single persistent universe. You can build almost anything out of voxels, trade in a free economy, lead industries, travel through space, explore planets, or wage war in a fully editable sandbox universe. Subscription-based. You will notice the game is NOT being tendered as an alpha, beta or any other non finalised game but a full game. The full advert page is on Steam and still shows non existing game play in the videos like mining below the surface, you can even spot JCs avatar in the advert. As for server costs name one single game that does not have server costs or dev costs for any updates/patches. NQs CEO has even stated on the record they have taken DU as far as they will do and they are no longer treating it as something to work on as they have 3 other projects they are working on instead.
  3. The reason was and is simple. People rushed to beat the price rise on launch and they bought 12 month packages to save some cash. People were wanting people to play so were shouting that it was the best thing since sliced bread still. Of course when their packages ran out they quietly left as they were probably feeling a bit foolish at ignoring both the warning signs from NQ and players/former players comments. Personally I paid for my accounts from the start of Beta, but only went for a 3 month package before launch as I did not think it would take even that long to fail, even though I honestly hoped I was wrong.
  4. Their previous anti cheat was a pay for a licence one but this one is free. NQ cost cutting strikes again? Lots of games use this one but they are actively developed and the anti cheat is tested and tweaked before general release.
  5. ADCOne How many tiles are still in use by people that rushed out to top up their game time before the price increase? In my case I had topped up my accounts before release on 27th September 2022 and the price increase. I topped up by an extra 3 months on them, I am sure a few topped up by 6 months or a year to save a few bob. I wonder how many tiles will still be getting topped up after the 27th September 2023 for example and will still have active players running them. That is going to be a measure of the games death or not, rather than counting people using up their DACs and/or prepaid game time.
  6. Feel free to laugh, that reply was written as a humorous take on NQ, their attitude to the players and their decision making policies.
  7. We could play sneaky and appeal to NQs better nature and list its points. 1/ it will reduce the server load. 2/ it will encourage PVP. 3/ 99.9% of the players don't want it. Then they will implement it tomorrow.
  8. I am retired but I have more to do with my time most days and if I have not my dear wife finds me something to do. It is not just the calibration timer we also have the log in reward that insists you wait over 24 hours in real time. Most online games get around this wait getting extended by simply classing a day as starting 12:01am at ending at Midnight server times. You still only get 1 award / recalibration in a 24hour period but it allows you to log in on day 1 at say 11am, day 2 at 10am, day 3 at 2pm etc etc and still get what ever it is. You also do not get the strange thing like my main gets the log in bonus at 9am and my alt can not get it till 3pm unless it misses a day and I can synchronise them.
  9. You crashed as you were going to fast at landing (over about 50kph). So although you thought you reached the ground and landed you were really still moving and smashing the ship up. There are better huds in game than the bog standard one from NQ. You can get links and instructions to them here (https://discord.gg/AAQMMsM3) the DU open source initiative. Free ones like Arch hud or aviator1280 have autopilot and auto landing or if you prefer diy flight and landing albatross hud. You also have a saga autopilot which is for sale and you either get them to spawn the core & seat and build your ship around them or there are a few ships with it installed like Serula's silver arrow (discord id Serula#7335) with saga autopilot either as a token or a BP where you buy/craft your own parts. The tutorial comes as instructions that pops up in the top left of screen and in the chat box under tutorial tab. It will lead you after a short tutorial section to the sections of tutorial done via the vr booth including basic piloting. The game has a steep learning curve and there are a lot of helpful organisations out there that will assist new players through it. You can find your ships by opening the map and clicking constructs. If you click on the ship name you can set a waypoint to it. Sometimes you will end up far from your ship even on another planet depending on your respawn points and were the ship crashed in that case you can ask in the discord (https://discord.gg/dualuniverse) or general tab of chat if anyone can give you a lift to it. There are people and groups on discord that offer rescues for stranded pilots. Eyes & Ears Search and Rescue (I don't have discord invite permissions) and Spaceboys (discord ID Kormolos) and others that I can't think of until I have had more coffee circulating through my system. You will need to repair the ship for it to work. The repair tool looks like a welding gun and if it is not on your hotkey bar you can drag it there from inventory. You need scraps to repair the ship. These start with tier 1 that you can craft in the nanocrafter (press K) from the surface rocks on unclaimed territories ore your own rocks on most planets (you first refine the rocks to ores then to scraps) or you have to buy them from the market. Equip the repair tool and move it about your ship broken bits are shown in red colour and damaged bits in a yellow on the ship. Equip the scraps with the repair tool and click on the bust bits. Repairing is covered in the tutorial (what is not is always use t1 scraps on the red bits as they only need 1 scrap to change them to damaged and higher tiers repair more of the parts hp than lower tiers).
  10. Well I have used MarkeeDragon for about 2 years now with no problems and he has a fast service.
  11. Dual Universe Launch is scheduled for Tuesday 13:00 UTC, 9:00 AM Eastern, 6:00 AM Pacific. Please note that this time is highly subject to change if there are any last minute issues. This of course is only if they have remembered to feed their poor hamster at the server farm.
  12. You mean you did not spot the changes? When I joined you could make a spaceship, fly to planets, set up out posts, mine, craft, build a city etc etc. Now they don't want you mining, crafting, setting up out posts, or even flying between planets. Dual Universe has been reduced to MineTax, a thrilling game where you set up a mining unit watch it merrily rotate, walk to the nearest market (well it passes the time between calibrating mu's) to sell the ore to a bot and walk back to watch it spin for another few hours. 2nd week in February my subscriptions are due on my 2 accounts and to be honest the game has changed so much, that I am debating whether it is actually worth paying NQ to continue to wreck what used to be fun.
  13. There is (was) an atmospheric flight part to the tutorial they had stage 1 and 2 up , stage 3 (space?) was missing. It was pretty simple stuff get in to one of their ships, take off, fly to waypoints and I suppose there was a landing part but that was bugged and I kept dc-ing during the fly by way points.
  14. Has anyone else noticed they seem to have weakened the ships about 2 weeks ago? I have had some wild and wonderful complete destructions like landing on a pad, relogging as none of my other ships were visible and witnessing the ship fall 5 m (it was on to another of my platforms) and blow completely up and destroy every single element. Landing on a space station last week I clipped the edge of the landing pad at 1kph and Boom complete destruction of every single element.
