    Have you?

How does the 37 tiles claimed impact you?

How did my Guide character in Anarchy Online being literally unkillable impact you?

If you have issues with what JC is doing - uninstall and cancel your sub as JC is basically this game.

And wouldn't you know it, as soon as I typed that up and submitted, and went back into the game... I found "Edit HTML Content" and saw hat it wrapped everything in a bootstrap div. With a "vw" font size.

So I changed my static font sizing to use the "vw" units instead of "px", and its behaving now =p

    <div class="bootstrap" style="font-size:9vw; "> <b style="color:#ffaa00;font-size:17vw;">DANGER</b><br> DO NOT ENTER<br> WITHOUT PRIVS<br> YOU WILL DIE </div>

Well, on the side topic about if Alioth (or any of the current safe zone) suddenly becomes PVP, I can assure you the loss of subscriptions will outweigh the gain of any new subscriptions because of that change. So as a business decision, it would be in their best interest to leave the 'safe zones' as they are, and simply expand the universe with more systems that are hostile with greater rewards and reasons to venture to them.

As it stands now, this game is 'one system'. Hardly the "Universe" they tout it as. Expanding outward, to many systems, is what they should focus on... not cutting back on what exists and alienating a chunk of their playerbase for no good reason than to troll their own customers.

    This Exactly!

It was our thought as well after having completed the tutorial and ending there, and then we realized .... hmm ... we should move all this back to Alioth and just make "Home" there to launch out from.

Alioth as well could have more of the advanced tutorials (the military, organization, and industrial schools). Keeping those off and out of the Sanctuary districts... keeping Sanctuary truly the place for people to get their feet wet with the basics of simple mining and building to learn how to exist.

They could even then go so far, as when you place your first real TCU, the SCU you placed is removed 1 week later, abandoning any and all things left there for newbs to hunt and pick over (if you happened to leave anything behind).

Add my voice to the desperate need for at least a color picker not only for solids but also for lights. These are basic features of any building game.  How can we set moods for builds without colored lights?

Recently spent time making a custom fuel display script, and after posting it in discord, saw some other people had interest. So I've spent the time to fully update it, and improve it, making it easily usable by any player, even without any coding knowledge.

Full information on how to install it, what features it has, and what I'm planning on adding can be found on the project's GitHub: https://github.com/RostCS/DU-FuelScreen

Frigidman reacted to SimplePiMan in LUA Industrial Unit Ideas
I have been playing around with various LUA scripts and I think something that is lacking is access to more information on industrial and storage units.  Below are a list of additional data I think would be really helpful to have for these

    Industrial Unit:
    1) what is the current recipe being crafted
    2) if ingredients are missing, what ingredients
    3) ability to change the recipe

    Storage Unit:
    1) JSON of contents, to include item name, quantity (both count and mass) and perhaps image64 code for the icon to be able to be used in SVGs.

I suggest this because I had an idea of creating a factory HUD which would show you the current status of what is crafting and give detailed information on any unit that has failed/jammed.

This point about Sanctuary is spot on. It doesn't make a lot of sense that the game starts players on Alioth, asks them to move to Sanctuary to finish the tutorial, and then the mechanics of the game essentially force them to either move back to Alioth or another planet if they want to progress at a reasonable pace. It would make a lot more sense to start players on Sanctuary, have them complete the basic tutorial of the game there, and then have that basic intro conclude on one of the Districts of Alioth where they can either complete the rest of the available tutorials or forge out on their own.

Sanctuary is a deadend. There is currently no reason to be there other than the game telling you to go there, but it could have some value as the literal starting place for new players who are just trying to learn the basic mechanics. It just doesn't make sense to move players there if they aren't starting there.

Well, considering they have murmured an actual painting tool coming soon™ ... I would think "splatter something that resembles text" could go in that? Given how a much needed paint tool would reduce the need to fiddle as much with a material replacer (which still has a use! because material replacer should replace material without butchering up the voxel! hahaha).

Anyhow, I'm eagerly awaiting a proper painting/texturing tool.

Maybe what they need is ........ LABEL MAKERS! lol To type actual text across the surface of a ship, different size control, that sort of thing

While I always admire humans’ ingenuity at circumventing laws, taxes, surcharges, rules and regulations, that is clearly trolling for the sake of trolling.

placing a TCU for the sole purpose of carting a construct to the PVP zone is not cheating as such, but it’s clearly bending the rules in a way NQ did not intend or they would have put disclaimers on their safe zone definitions....

As such, it is exploiting a loophole in the ingame logic that should protect against this, pretty much by definition.

while I think severe punitive action again the players doing this might be considered draconian, since it’s not -technically- breaking the EULA, I think, if NQ truly did not forsee/desire this method of... capital gain... they should at least provide the “victim” with remuneration or a magic blueprint to reimburse them and create a temporary patch to at least prevent removal of incumbent constructs until they can consider a proper mechanism...

Except it is, the action of taking someone else's property _is_ PVP. It is an exploit and needs to be called out as such, so that these actions can have repercussions and then the loophole fixed.

Sorry, no, this is maybe according to "letter of law", but definitely not spirit of law. Safe zone was designed to be safe, not design to trick people into false safety feeling.

Thats an unintended consequence, not amazing stuff.

Day 1 i flew over 84 Km just to get to the place me and my friend decided to call home, never had a second i thought, muhhhh this is too far, lets quit.

Maybe the issue is not the distance but that you didnt have a hoover that could actually fly at about 330 km/hr. Thats about the speed the BP hovers can get with the gifted elements.

This is a non issue  - all the newbie speeders can be turned into planes.

Covering 30km at ~400kmh takes about 5 minutes.

You can buy a few more engines and push that speeder up to 700km/h.

Travel time is a major component of DU just like it was in EVE.

Only thing I would change is adding the tutorial step to turn your speeder into a plane.

Frigidman reacted to Zamiel7 in market. now with teleportation!!!
If such a device existed that allowed players to teleport directly to a market hub to buy and sell things, it would totally break the logistics aspects of the game. There's no way this will ever happen. It seems like your issue is more that you keep crashing, which is certainly a big problem, but this is not the way to go about fixing it.

This is a completely different kind of tool (which does not exist) which really doesn't relate to a material replacer (which already exists)... because to make the text, it would have to manipulate the vertexes of voxels, which is something that a material replacer should not touch.

Maybe make a new thread for a "New Voxel Tool: Text to Voxel" tool ?

I would like to toss in a request to fix the launcher to hook to the dual.exe properly as well.

I don't use the steam controllers, but I have a lot of friends who ping me and send messages. Having to continually alt-tab out to see these, is tiresome.

Many other games that have a launcher, hook to the subsequent launched app in a way that the steam overlay coveys to the final game running. For example all these launchers properly hook to their end game (that I have tried):
    Star Citizen
    Planetside2
    Lord of the Rings Online
    Elder Scrolls Online
    Star Wars Teh Cappy Repubic
Even Uplay, Rockstar Launcher, and Epic Games Launcher for all the games under those services hook right for steam overlay to convey.

So, pretty-please with bonus naquadah on top?

I agree, however I am allowing for the "Its beta" arguments to be valid for now.

What I don't agree with is bullsmacking nonsense like this effluent lifted straight from their own FAQ:

    https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qzsYBxgM0_bXrecBhfJJ__4n_43ZCrIY5r-X5fskKZo/edit#heading=h.s18k14uker8h

That has to be the worst cop-out, justifying ignoring performance issues in a game. It shows their ignorance like no other.

    - Movies and TV are a low frame rate, because people are sitting and only watching it. They are not in control of it. Its easier on the eyes with the pre-defined motion and scenes. Frames blend from one to another in various technologies across film and digital, to where the issue of being low-rate is not "perceived" as being "terrible".

    - Games are in the hands of the controller. The moment you drop it to a pathetic 30fps, then all manner of discomfort is created. It lags, its unresponsive, and being in control of the direction of action is hindered.

    - Anyone who "claims" that you don't see above 30fps, is a blind fool. And those who say you don't see more than 60fps "so there is no point to a 144hz monitor" are clearly idiots who have never played a single game on a 144hz monitor at 90+ fps.

    - Arguably, DU IS a First Person Shoot-em-up game the moment they added 'tools' in hand you have to aim and use ad nauseum, and 'weapons' on ships that you need to 'aim' and blow up other people in a 'PVP' setting. So that excuse that DU isn't an FPS, making it acceptable to have piss-poor frame rate performance, is just downright apalling.

    - Even a top-down RTS with low frame rate sucks. So where is the rationalization here?

Anyhow...... one can be hopeful they pull head from the dark crevasse and will actually improve the abysmal performance this game has over the course of the beta period. If not, then I can see many, many subscriptions getting cancelled.
