  1. After a rather long and unplanned hiatus, the Astra Imperialis is back in business and once more recruiting! We're looking for dedicated members to lay the bedrock of the community in any and all areas! Please, apply through PM to myself, via the Organisations page or on here if you feel the AI is for you! As a note, feedback and comments on the AI, their rules, structure or just the organisation in general is always welcome!
  2. I hope that the community as a whole takes care of the spawn/arkship planet, as (Correct me if I'm wrong) I believe it's the only one we'll have. In which case, newer players that come late to the game may find it difficult to gather resources, as they'll have access to little or no funds, and little to no resources as they're all finite. Perhaps more arkship planets will be placed, but I know I'll be working together with folk to pool resources to make a ship to get us all off the planet. Leaves that little bit extra for the people following behind, or taking the game at a different pace. Does anyone actually know, or have any ideas, on how the arkship/spawn world will handle the amount of players stripping it to get off? I was always hoping for a large city on the arkship/spawn world, a kind of "First stop" with Org recruitment buildings, transport, markets etc. Accessible to all and in a memorable location, but if the planet is stripped within a couple of months/years, this would make it rather pointless simply because the newer folk won't have resources to trade, or currency to buy and may have to rely on charity to get them offworld.
  3. A question that's been on my mind also. I honestly hope, and rather expect, there to be multiple resources that can be used for the same "tier" or "level" or whatever of crafting. For example, we've already seen Copper in the game. I hope that something of equal value (Tin maybe?) can be used in crafting or construction for the same effect. Otherwise, the other way is to place a over-abundance of Copper and other lower level materials, which I dislike. Obviously over-simplified example example - Copper + Thing = Cockpit OR Tin + Thing = Same Cockpit. This then means we can have a variety of materials, as opposed to an over-abundance of a few materials. At least, that's my opinion!
  4. Leadership and Internal Affairs As with all collective groups, the Imperialis believe that only the best of the best should lead. For this reason, we will implement a voting system for the position of Director and Chief of Staff, while Veteran ranks will be promoted for outstanding service. In the early stages of the Organisation the role of Director and CoS may be rather fluid as we find out feet, but our intent is to have the best person possible fill these roles. This does not only mean the best in their chosen field, but the best suited with attitude, dedication and activity. Elections The Elections for Directors and CoS will be simple. Each candidate puts their name forward with a campaign behind them to garner votes. As with all elections, votes will be anonymous though figures will be fully visible in up-to-date polls, meaning that you will be able to see a leader emerging and watch democracy in progress, rather than a sudden leader be thrust upon you. The highest % of votes will be elected as the leader and in the unlikely case of a direct tie, the Commander-General and existing Directors will choose after giving a detailed reason as to why. Elections will not be held on a regular basis, after all “if it is not broken, why change it?” While we do wish for a political aspect to the Organisation, we do not a Director to be elected before instantly starting on a new campaign. Elections will only be held on certain grounds, which are; - Planned periods of extended absence. If a Director intends to be away from the game for an extended period, then an election will be held to replace them. This election will be a true election, and if or when the previous Director returns they will have to campaign to be re-elected. Note, this does not apply to short absences such as holidays and the like. In such cases, a temporary Director will be chosen by the current Director. Those that are chosen are expected to facilitate a smooth transition between the hand-over and to fill all roles expected. - Removal, dismissal or disciplinary action. If a Director is removed from the Imperialis then an immediate election will be called. To keep the Division running smoothly, a Temporary Director will be chosen while the elections take place. - Willingly stepping down. If a Director wishes to step down from their current position, an election will be held. While the election is running, we hope that the current Director will maintain the Division, otherwise a Temporary Director will be chosen. - Vote of No Confidence. If a significant number of the Division or the Imperialis as a whole feel that the current Director is not living up to their standards, be it activity, attitude or professionalism, then an election will be called. Again, a Temporary Director will be chosen while the election takes place. All of the above, while stated as the rank of Director, also applies for Chief of Staff and Commander-General. While other circumstances may lead to elections being called, the above are the core primary reasons behind elections. Grace Period When a Director is elected, they will be given a Grace Period of 2 months. This means that no elections will be held to replace them, unless extenuating circumstances arise. This includes Votes of No Confidence. We at Imperialis believe in giving everyone a chance to find their feet. Re-Elections All candidates are able to be re-elected any number of times should the community chose them. However, if they are removed due to disciplinary measures they will have to apply directly to the Commander-General before starting their campaign. Furthermore, if they have received a Vote of No Confidence, they are no longer allowed to be elected for the position of Director. Votes of No Confidence While we aim to give the Imperialis the best of the best, everyone makes mistakes. If a given portion of the Division (Over 50%) or Imperialis as a whole (Over 50%) believes that the current rank-holder is leading them down the wrong path, then a Vote of No Confidence will be held. For the vote to take effect there has to be a clear majority in favour, over 50%. Votes of No Confidence cannot be held closer than 2 months apart, meaning if the vote fails then it will not be held for another 2 months. VoNC apply to all positions including, but not limited to, Director, Chief of Staff and Commander-General. If a VoNC is acted upon and the holder of the rank is removed, they will always remain within the Organisation. At no point will anyone be removed due to a VoNC, unless rules are broken during the process. The most likely rank they will step down to is Veteran, and they will not be allowed to re-apply for their previous rank. This does mean however, that a Commander-General may apply for the position of Director, and vice versa, if they are removed via a VoNC. Everyone’s Opinion Matters At Imperialis, we want everyone to feel that they can change the Organisation for the better. For this reason, all Directors, the Chief of Staff and the Commander-General will hold regular open-floor meetings. At these meetings, members of all ranks and standing are welcome to voice their opinion on the direction of the Imperialis, their Division or simply specific matters they feel strongly about. Each member will, before the meeting, state how many questions or opinions they have, at which point a roster will be drawn. Each member will voice one question at a time, before hearing the answer and stepping back, at which point the next member will step forward. If members have multiple questions on differing topics, the roster will rotate around until all questions are answered. We implore all members to attend these meetings if able, and will strive to make them at times accessible to all. Even if you do not have a question, attending these meetings will give you opportunity to hear first-hand the direction we at Imperialis want to take and may answer topics that you were going to question yourself. Of course over the period of time some questions will be repeated, but if the same question arises on multiple times it will be added to a list of FAQ’s. We ask each member to read each thoroughly before submitting a question. Expectations of Members While the rules must, at all times, be adhered to, the Imperialis also has expectations of members within the Organisation. While not specifically rules, each member is still expected to take these into consideration as repeated disregard for them may lead to disciplinary action. Contribution We at Imperialis will never tax any resource, money or other object you gather independently or in your own time. We do however hope that members will take the Imperialis into consideration when gathering items. If you intend to sell them on the open market, please contact a Director first to see if we wish to buy them. We will buy them at the lowest market price available or an agreed price if none is available. If you are working with Imperialis property, then we expect that all gathered materials be returned to Imperialis, at which point “payment” will be decided. Payment, at the moment, is very fluid as no solid currency has been announced at the time of writing. In theory however, a member will either be able to ask for a percentage of the materials back, a lump cash sum for the work done or other non-specified transactions. All members will be paid fairly, with a flat % rate of the resource value if the member choses the lump-sum. Members may also give their resources freely to the Imperialis, should they wish it. This will not in any way gain favour, but will be respected and announced to the Imperialis that you have done so. We appreciate all that is given, and will use such resources appropriately. The Imperialis may send out a broadcast that a certain resource is required; if for example we are working on a larger build. We hope you take such into consideration when selling your resources, as we will happily buy them from you at the lowest market rate. Imperialis Property During your time at Imperialis, you will often be working with or using Imperialis property. This includes, but is not limited to; resources, ships, weapons, services, stations and buildings. At all times, Imperialis property is to be respected and treated with the utmost care. If a ship is lost due to user error (crashed, misused etc) then we will expect you to repay the cost or, if unable, make a sizeable effort to help towards the rebuild. This does not mean we will penalise you if you are attacked or experienced a technical error (Such as power outage or system crash). If such occurs, then you will not be expected to pay or contribute, though we will still welcome such if you wish for it. Repeated violations of misuse will result in a banning from the use of certain Imperialis property. We all work together to build such property, and we will not stand for one member repeatedly destroying what is built. These expectations also extend to public or alliance property. Activity All members of Imperialis are expected to remain active as often as possible. While we are fully aware that real-life often gets in the way, even a token logging on will be appreciated. For members that know they will experience a period of absence, they are expected to send the appropriate Director a Leave of Absence, or LoA. LoA’s can be given for a period of 1 month, with extensions able to be given to further that time during the LoA. As stated previously, we have an open door policy here at Imperialis. We hope that you will find the time to tell us of your absence through any means available. Members that have no given notice of an LoA and have been inactive for a certain period of time (Provisionally it will be set to 2 weeks, though subject to change upon further notice) then they shall be removed from the Imperialis. Any member removed will be given ample notification of such, starting from 1 week onwards. After 3 notifications with no response, you will be removed with a message explaining why. If you return and can give us a reason, no matter how vague, for you absence they you are allowed to re-apply. If you repeatedly become inactive, then you re-application must be sent to the Commander-General or Chief of Staff, at which point they may decline. We at Imperialis will never expect you to put in more time than you want or wish to, but we hope that you will keep us informed of situations. Note, this does not mean we need specifics is the subject is delicate or you are unwilling to tell us, a simple generalisation of the circumstance will be efficient.
  5. I can say that I will be using a Blacklisting system for repeat offenders. If you are a known griefer, troll or other form of delinquent then we will not interact with you in any way. I prefer it over the whole prison thing because, as people have stated, if you pay for a game you should be given access to the game, no matter how you choose to play it. This doesn't mean we'll Blacklist anyone that attacks us, we 'll just shoot back! It's purely for people whose only goal is to irritate other folk and be a general pain in the neck. Would be nice if all Organisations had a public Blacklist....list so that anyone can take a glance down the collective names and know who is trouble, who to avoid and who not to accept within their own Org.
  6. Bulky and efficient mainly, with very little "frills". Not to say they'll be plain looking, they'll look nice in their own way. I just dislike ships with excess detail and such, preferring bulky looking ships. As to the type, it would love to build a carrier of some description with bays of bombers and fighters on-board, ready to be deployed at a moments notice.
  7. Astra Imperialis Astra Imperialis are : Recruiting Who are we? Astra Imperialis will be a friendly collection of like-minded members looking to further their expertise in any given field. We welcome all who wish to join, and implore members to pursue their chosen field, for the good of the Imperialis. What are we aiming to do? We feel that limiting our organisation to one specific role will limit our progression; therefore we aim to excel in all areas. With that said, our main aim will be militaristic, with our 1st Regiment being a shining example of our might and dedication. With time, we hope to be fully self-sufficient as an Organisation with each Division giving aid to one another to progress together. All of this will combine towards our one true goal: Expansion. With our military standing ready should the need arise; we aim to expand into the unknown and conquer planets for the Imperialis. Will I be able to join? The Astra Imperialis welcomes all to her ranks, should they prove they are willing and able. This is not, and never will be, an Organisation to sit back and swell our numbers unnecessarily. Each member, from the newest recruit to the very top, is expected to aid the collective Imperialis in any way they can. I will ensure that no matter how much you give to the Imperialis, whether it is time, resources or your life, you will be duly rewarded. Mine for us, and we will ensure you are protected. Explore for us, and we will make sure your names are not forgotten. Fight for us, and we will give you the means to defend yourself. Die for us, and we will build an empire worthy of your sacrifice. Structure The Astra Imperialis is split into several separate Divisions, working separately to achieve a collective goal. Each Division is expected to support one another, no matter the need or cost. Applicants will be placed into their preferred Division, and while changing Divisions is allowed we hope that you will take time to think about where you want to be in the Imperialis before you join. If you are unsure, there will always be someone willing to guide you to what you want to do. Imperialis 1st Regiment The mighty fist of the Astra Imperialis, the Imperialis 1st is a shining example of mankind’s might. Dedicated to the expansion of the Astra Imperialis territories and the protection of its citizens, all who are willing to put their lives on the line for their brothers and sisters in arms are welcome here. Pathfinders The eyes and ears of the Imperialis, this specialised division seeks out new worlds, exploring systems and planets before reporting back to Imperialis Command. Able to guide through the most treacherous terrain, if you have the urge to explore, the Pathfinders are for you. Astra Manufactoris The Astra Imperialis cannot function without its Manufactoris branch. They provide the arms, armour, ships and resources that keep everything running smoothly. While continually producing what is required, the Astra Manufactoris also works to gather and stockpile the materials needed, often working in conjunction with the Imperialis 1st for protection. Imperialis Command The minds behind all ventures of the Astra Imperialis, the Imperialis Command keep each division working towards the expanse of mankind. Each division will have a representative within the Command, as well as an over-all Commander-General. Each division is able to work independent of one another, though will combine should the need arise. Should the need arise; each Sector or System of space may have a separate Command that deals only in their specific System. All Commands will answer to Imperialis Command, or High Command, but are expected to be able to work fully independent. As such, only the most trusted of members will be given Sector Command positions. Rules The Rules of Astra Imperialis are very simple and are expected of all members. Failure to abide may lead to disciplinary or removal from the Imperialis. 1) Respect one another, and the community as a whole. I hope this comes as no surprise to anyone, but we will not foster people who are toxic, racist, homophobic or generally foul in any way. This includes, but is not limited to, all forms of official DU communication (in-game, messages, forums, twitter etc) as well as any interaction with members from the Organisation, or any other Organisation, outside of the game. I urge any person to contact me or anyone of the Organisation should they feel that any member has been harassing them in any way. It will be dealt with swiftly. 2) Orders are orders. If you are asked to do something by an officer, it will be expected to be done. We make sure to take our time in selecting the very best of the best to become officers within our ranks, therefore any order is given the utmost pondering and scrutiny before being handed out. While we expect this of our members, you are always welcome to ask the opinion of a separate officer should you feel the need. 3) We have an open door policy, and we hope you do too. We are always available to talk at any and all opportunities. We know that real-life and other commitments exist, but we hope that should you receive communication from anyone, you respond to it in a timely manner. Inactivity without reason will be frowned upon, and may lead to removal if no response if given in a set period of time (TBC). 4) Strength in unity. The Astra Imperialis finds its strength in members working together in all aspects. It is asked that should you be able, you help out each other whenever and where-ever you can. This does not mean you will be handed everything on a silver platter, you are expected to “pull your own weight” so to speak. However, we are well aware that every now and then you need a helping hand, and hope you remember the times you were helped when other members ask for it. Ranks Below are the ranks currently implemented within the Astra Imperialis. More may be added in time, such as Division specific names and specialised areas of expertise, but the core of the Imperialis will always be the ranks below. Each rank is obtainable by any member should they put in the time and effort to climb as high as they want. There are no boundaries nor “Reserved” ranks within the Imperialis. Commander-General The leader of the Astra Imperialis, the Commander-General is in charge of all aspects of the Organisation. This position will be filled by only the most dedicated of people, as no one can expect anyone to do what you will not do yourself. Chief of Staff The CoS is the internal affairs administrator of the Imperialis. He, in the Commander-Generals stead, will make sure that the Imperialis keeps running smoothly whether that means disciplining members, recording events or holding meetings with other members. Director of <Division> The best of the best of their chosen field, the Directors guide their Division to supremacy through hard work and dedication. Directors will have full control over their Division and be in close communication with each other to achieve their goals. Each will have the power to recruit, police or otherwise tailor their Division to how best they think it works. Veteran Long standing members who have proved themselves worthy of such a title by however they choose to, Veterans will be expected to help new members find their feet while doing what they can to help their chosen Division. Member The bread and butter of the Imperialis will be its Members. We hope to provide a safe and friendly environment for all, and will look to our Members for ideas and criticisms at all times. Recruit Yet to be placed in a Division, or still deciding which to join, Recruits will be helped to find their home among us by all persons within the Imperialis. You are not expected to stay at this rank long, and will rise to Member upon the choosing of your Division.
