Well, I will focus on the most exciting changes for me.

The "24" is even number and I like even numbers more than odd numbers, because numbers like "23" are odd and I always avoid them when adjusting the volume on my devices.

Right, that is a good example that shows they actually can do it. I will try to remember that, because when I log in from time to time, in my limited perspective, I got this impression that nothing really changed for the better.

However, I still can't wrap my head around this strange emptiness. I guess I expected that there will be some kind of continous tweaks and exciting updates to check out at least every 2-3 months. I mean, it's supposed to be a really cool space game and, are there like 50 people working on this? In 2 locations?
I think that I was more excited about what I heard a few years ago in JC's interviews than after "release".

Your addition "then NQ changed it (once or many times) and then the feedback transitioned to mostly positive?" really made me think for a while.

In retrospect, a lot of things were implemented to some extent but never got a revision. From any unnecessary features that crept into the feature list at the time and added no value to gameplay (yes, I'm looking at you Surrogate Pods) , were postponed indefinitely (yes, I am looking at you AvA), or made worse to make it more accessible
(Yes, this time looking at you thrust-to-mass ratio), there wasn't much left that met your criteria.

So if I take out things that are under the ATV NDA and things that are obvious like UI (optimization, renderings, accessible) then I really have to say there is only one subject for me that I can call that: Mining. It was the only one in my eyes that got multiple tries, attempts and a lot of love from all the features that DU has in it's current state.

I remember back then, fragments always remained and a vein could never be mined completely. The scanner always pinged and it was frustrating to look for the last piece. I am thankful that we at least have this green border and that the ore sticks together more and you can mine a vein more efficiently and cleanly. I was able to mine everything down with a calm conscience without breaking down any leftovers and my scanner stopped pinging again.

A few people complained at the time about how fast it was and how they wanted to make a science out of how to mine the ore. I would like to see their opinion today that it was meant for all players and not for a small group.

That happened right at the start of beta when a particular alliance of orgs (mostly) objected to the way the markets were set up and NQ changed them. (I'm not in that alliance of orgs and I disagree with the change), but it is an example of what you're talking about.

Also, because the flight model is written in Lua and we have access to the source code, quite a few of us "fixed" the flight model for our own constructs and reported to NQ what we were doing. NQ made some very nice updates to the stock flight model based on what we players did. (AFAIK, NQ took ideas, not code, and wrote their own code for the changes.)

Are you also getting annoyed because you chat with somebody from NQ, but after a normal few days of not hearing back you find out they got fired?

If we had just a list of people who were not fired yet, we could at least check before we answer somebody, if they still work for NQ.

Given how the server is rarely down for maintainence, and never for patches, I think an "Employee status site" is far more important than a "Server status" site.

I use only one machine, it happens often to me. If you are like me then your machine doesn't have the latest, greatest installed. It has just enough video to run it. But then maybe not.

Mine happens during rendering process of complicated elements. If I log out away from bases, markets, not facing a ship, It usually doesn't happen. When I do log out near my base and it happens, I clear my cache. (upper right corner, its an option in the dropdown that has debug in it) That was what was suggested to me by the DU techs. I checked first time they contacted me with it, and was surprised. right at 15 GB in the cache!

IF DU is like most, those little popup boxes you fill out and send are considered issue trackers. They are used by devs for optimizations and figuring out how and when problems occur from tickets when submitted. To get a response, you have to submit an actual ticket on the web site. That will contact the IT team, which will assist. If they can't fix it it gets booted up the chain depending on how many tickets for a particular problem are submitted. When it gets the devs attention, they pour through the issue trackers.

*DISCLAIMER That happens at other companies, I do not know if that is DU's process as well.

I suggest to just keep submitting the trackers. Keep issuing the tickets. Sheer number is what gets their attention. And in the meantime, try to what I do. So far my game crashes FAR less (still does occasionally) and is less frustrating. Hope this helps.

Skimus got a reaction from NQ-Naunet in Let's talk DU quits
As a mostly solo player, I got nothing to do anymore. In 1 week I made enough quata to buy everything I wanted or needed (not with exploits, but just buying low and selling high). I could probably continue to collect more stuff, but nobody can attack my base to take it so there is no excitement and challange in this kind of play. I have always liked the solo play in Rust, where the more I have, the more I need to protect it. Generally, I hoped that DU will be more like Rust in space, but without periodic wipes. Unfortunately for me, it is nothing like it.

Also, I don't like the communication style of NQ. The best I could describe it is childish and a bit arrogant (please note that I do not follow every news on DU, so this reception comes from my limited perspective, after seeing some interviews, posts, social media comments and comparing it with the ingame reality).

And bugs... oh maaan, one month ago it was on average 1 crash every 15-30 min. I logged on yesterday and it was 1 crash every 1-2 minutes, so no thanks.

Actually, I think it is good that developers do not focus on designing physics for "standard" vehicles. After all, this is space game and most players will just want to fly

Skimus reacted to Code24 in Universe without gravity?
One thing I'm wondering is: does gravity have any influence on constructs at all? Why are the hover elements even necessary if there is nothing to pull you hover bike down to the ground.

And if getting to space requires research of more powerful engines, doesn't that imply that gravity is the limiting factor?

In the past few days I was looking through all available information about Dual Universe. Now I hope I am ready to discuss about the game and present my point of view in a number of topics.

However this post should be just an introduction so… who am I?

My name is Paul, but you can call me Skimus I am Control Engineering and Robotics student from Poland. I also work as a programmer, but unfortunately I only develop software for microcontrollers and do not create virtual universes

As many of you, I am kind of fascinated with the idea of “boundless MMO”. On the other hand, I know how difficult is creating a game, when you have more ideas then resources. I suspect that compromise is already a big part of unpleasant reality for developers. That is why I think that most of my ideas, which I am going to share with the community, will be as much down to earth as possible.

But well… you never know where your imagination will take you right?
