  1. I remember NQ stating that the smallest block size is 25 cm. EDIT: Found my source, this early DevDiary video About astronaut size... If we assume DU does the familiar first-person thing of positioning the camera on about height of player model's chest/neck instead of true eye height, astronaut should be roughly 1,7-1,9 m tall since the 6 small blocks piled 1,5 m high are on the "eye" level. Also, WIP character customisation video shows there is around 10 cm height difference between male and female player model.
  2. I hope the level system comes to use then, will require quite a few participating people for levels to become useful.
  3. Lethys put up an European version, get over there: https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/10709-gathering-feedback-for-an-unofficial-community-organized-fanfest-europe/ EDIT: Oh you already did. Good job me... [runs back to the forest]
  4. Welcome. Safe travels, maybe we will meet somewhere someday.
  5. Dammit Twerk, you raise too many good points in one post! Luckily for me I very much agree. A ranged dispenser would kind of eat away the immersion part (a text pops up saying "you are properly fed"?), but having dedicated food storage/preservation element sounds good.
  6. Yet another fantastic project to keep track of, well thought out. Sounds somewhat similar to what Peregrin is working on with his excellent Du Sleepers history overview, not meaning having another DU history source is a bad thing. On the contrary, having differing records of certain events (wars, colonization etc.) would be amazing and later on allow further research like with 'real world' history. "History is written by the victors" - We will see about that in Dual Universe.
  7. This might well be worth traveling for (if it ever becomes a thing). This too would be after Alpha? Middle Europe sounds good as there will be borders to cross anyway and likely too few of us live farther north to make it convenient. Yamamushi be praised for the original idea (and you too for the European Edition).
  8. One-man orgs are not a problem, some prefer being their own organization as individual enterpreneurs or such. But I agree that the inactive ones are just clutter, quite sure that NQ will later implement a method to clean them up.
  9. This sounds excellent and would definitely help incompetent programmers such as me to get into LUA, the mere possibility of receiving feedback from scripting is encouraging. For now though, it is more geographic information systems for me so I can finish my studies but in a month or so I would be willing to help however I can (so, probably be more of a hindrance than help). You just keep on coming up with awe-inspiring stuff.
  10. Many orgs have fallen for copyright already so mentioned it just in case. Went through the orgs with >5 members and there is one WH40K group: The Imperium of Man Sadly their description is a literal copypaste from a WH40K wiki and latest seen activity is from the day it was created back in September... Yeah, you might be out of luck.
  11. Well, we currently got 1200 orgs so there likely is one or two somewhere. Closest I happen to remember is this newcomer org: https://community.dualthegame.com/organization/black-templars Just take care not to try and completely recreate Warhammer here, copyright has long tentacles and they are jealous.
  12. I have some plans to make different use of excess resources (if I ever happen to even have them). I usually suck at making profit anyway. I would love to travel to some unvisited or already exhausted & abandoned places and build there dungeons of sorts: a labyrinth, traps, pieces of local lore and most of all, LOOT. Or I could just be a prick and put in the final room a massive chest which merely contains a datapad with words "Good job!" (gotta reward for all that exploration somehow). Or how about a treasure map? We shall see what shenanigans DU allows. Still thinking about how to mark the entrances, some bizarre totem would probably be appropriate and relatively easy to spot.
  13. I have been stalking the issue since September, but that was part of the inspiration, yes. I thought that the problems had dwindled since November, but lately there seems to have been another surge. And I have a feeling that after alpha test starts, there will be another flood... I lately informed a couple of fresh Star Wars orgs about the issues, and that made me feel really bad. Sure, it is easier to hear the bad news sooner than later, but it still hurts to stomp on their enthusiasm. Well, at least I am not mentally cut out for that notifying job.
  14. I suggest organization creation window (meaning this one) to also include basic information about: Copyright infringement (and maybe how to avoid it) Disapproved types of org names (Apple, Microsoft, etc.) Currently, creating an organization does not require one to even visit the forums. Since NQ's statements about aforementioned things are hidden inside certain topics (as far as I know), I feel they go unnoticed by many organization founders. Also, the org creation page only offers a link to the early devblog post about orgs that mentions nothing about copyright. I do not know how the copyright-wise problematic orgs are officially dealt with, but have seen some other forum users politely notifying newfound orgs about clear issues. It is admirable, but in my opinion should not be relied upon. I realise we have not even hit alpha test yet, but still believe that adding the suggested information into mandatory text every organization founder should read would reduce unnecessary frustration. Thanks for your time, and hopefully the text was readable enough.
  15. Can we get a definition of "better" in this context? Also, poll choice "I don't care" or "depends" might come in handy.
  16. Hey, and welcome to the community! I understand well the "avoid people" part, though you already proved yourself braver than many (well certainly me at least). Considering your interest in writing/reading I will add some possible points of interests from within the community: Novawrimo is Novaquark's now ended community writing contest, where people get to vote their favourites. Quite a few nice stories fitting Dual Universe's lore can be found from the forum by searching "Novawrimo" DU Sleepers is a fan-made website chronicle of sorts about the history of Dual Universe and its community. Writer's Guild is an organization, by its own words "a casual place to hang out and discuss writing projects you are working on within or outside of the 'Dual Universe'." Hopefully that little link-spam was of some use and didn't feel too pushy (sorry if it did). Take care, friend.
  17. Hello, and welcome to the community. Quote from Kickstarter stretch goal "Advanced character customization" (NQ decided to include this in release): "Helmet can be removed. Choice of character faces and hair." I am sure more customizable clothing/apparel will come later on, but don't expect too much at launch state. For now we have a couple of different space suits with quite flexible colouring options. NQ has stated that they will keep updating the game with things community wants.
  18. To me, this is pretty much the most interesting thing since hearing about the whole DU. Thanks for the info. EDIT: Welp, looks like this has been around for a while... Better late than never I guess.
  19. Having somewhat same problem, I am already part of a smallish group but unsure how well I can cope with its vague goals (do whatever, even piracy which I don't care about). To be honest, for a while now I have been contemplating joining the Blue Moon Crew instead...
  20. Wholeheartedly agreed, having the ability to purchase DACs and gift backer levels would be very nice indeed. I am certain to not upgrade into higher backer level due to massive price gap, but getting a couple of DACs or a giftable silver pack for example would be likely.
  21. Now that was one helluva introduction, but also nicely written (I even learned a new word "prolixity". Thanks for that). I admire your ability to speak of your thoughts, good points raised there. Not sure how eligible I am to say this, being just another non-introduced lurker but... Welcome to the forums?
  22. Had no time to learn Blender, so MagicaVoxel with its restricted angles (arrgh!) shall suffice. Let's see how badly I mess up this pic attachment... In DU's timeline this is an ancient style of design, but not necessarily useless. It should work okay as a two-crew atmospheric scout/explorer. On a sidenote, good job to anyone who recognises the aircraft this was inspired by.
  23. Far as I know, none of the current organizations is going for that specific theme (did a shallow check + a keyword search). However, some larger orgs are planning to build fairly massive cities, so suggesting a citadel-styled building might work if you join their cause. There is also at least one org (DU Constructors Guild) that attempts to work as a "job board" for constructing work, so ordering such a building to be created is also an option. A bit out of context, but I will also mention Alpha Academy as a potential org to make building this happen, they aim to test as many things as possible during alpha test, and building something so hugely tall might become a thing. Lastly, you can of course jump into organization creating yourself and see how it goes (earliest date anyone plays even alpha test is still many months away). Just don't borrow too heavily from original Half-Life lore/names, copyright reaches far. Hopefully this was of some use. And welcome to the community.
  24. NQ has already stated that behavior which is seen as griefing will not be tolerated. We will likely see better definition of griefing closer to Alpha/Beta, and what are their ways to combat it.
  25. Hello, and welcome to the community. Hopefully you stay interested until we got something to actually play.
