  1. I think something that NQ could do to help prevent these situations is some kind of a "So you want to start an ORG" tutorial or FAQ or something like that. That you are pointed to, before you start an ORG. Something that explains ahead of time that it is actually NOT a good idea to take all your resources put them under the ownership of one ORG, and then give Legates full permissions to it. You really have to make sub-orgs and divide resources and responsibilities in a way that minimizes the amount of damage that any one member can do. Not everyone needs to learn that lesson the hard way though.
  2. Are we talking about info that was in the livestream the night before? We all had access to that video at the same time. If some people managed to get an idea of where the planet would be located from the livestream, good for them. I didn't even think of that. But again, that saved them a few minutes of Warp time at best. I saw the teaser video they posted earlier in the day with footage of a new planet, and the caption "posted with no context". Since i was able to figure out based on that, that a new planet would be released the next day, does that mean i had advanced knowledge too? Was that teaser video a leak?
  3. Not everyone has a traditional work week. There are people playing DU during the day in the middle of a work week every day, that isn't out of the ordinary. It would be bad if NQ was leaking stuff like this, but there is zero evidence that they did. I think the real issue here is that NQ could have given more advanced notice. And they didn't. And people are frustrated about that. My feeling is that NQ holds back on sharing stuff like this ahead of time, with the intent of NOT giving anyone an advantage. They think if they tell us ahead of time, the more serious players will have a larger advantage. But i think what actually happens, is that serious players predict when stuff is going to happen and are prepared anyway. So all NQ accomplishes by holding back the info, is putting casual players at an even larger disadvantage. And i think by sharing info ahead of time, NQ would actually level the playing field by making sure everyone has the same information.
  4. It only takes a few minutes to warp somewhere with a ship full of equipment. And if you're parked in space, you can warp immediately, as soon as you log in. People were prepared because everyone knew they were going to release new planets eventually. And people got there quickly because of warp. I don't see any reason to think anyone had any kind of advanced knowledge.
  5. I don't really see what kind of advantage you're talking about. I knew that more planets would be released, just like everyone else. So i made sure i had three territory scanners, and a bunch of territory units ready and waiting. So what advantage would i gain from knowing when the next new planet would be released weeks in advance? Assuming i already have the territory scanners, and the TCUs anyway. I could request the day off from work, but other than that i can't think of any advantage it would give me. I found out when they were releasing the new planet at the same time as everyone else. When i saw the teaser clip they released the day before. That was plenty enough time to fuel up a ship, load up the territory scanners and TCUs, and set an alarm for 5am. That's all the advanced notice i needed to give myself the same advantage as everyone else. Knowing weeks in advance wouldn't have gotten someone to Talemai any faster than me.
  6. I've definitely experienced this before, many times. Coming in for a landing, going about 500kph, and decelerating, holding the brakes. And without releasing the brakes, suddenly your speed starts to increase. I've started taping the brakes when this happens, and usually they seem to kick back in a second or two later. But sometimes that few seconds of no brakes is enough to cause a crash, or at least a rough landing.
  7. The Metaverse is a good idea, in the same way that a Public Park is a good idea, or a Beach is a good idea. If public parks and beaches didn't exist yet. People like the sound of it, and they want to go there if you describe it to them. But that doesn't mean every park or beach will be good. And it doesn't even begin to address how you might go about building a business around that idea. And the biggest issue is that like a park or a beach, the freedom and public access are a huge part of what makes them so exciting. When you have an owner, and you restrict access, and sell membership. You don't have the freedom and endless potential that got people interested in the first place.
  8. I think it's important to remember that the people making the game, the people actually working on the game, want to do a great job, and i'm sure they're trying to do a great job, and they're also at work, trying to make a living, and they truly don't deserve any form of abuse. Ever. BUT i think it's also important to make sure that upper management knows, when they make uninformed, poorly thought-out, profit driven decisions, they are in danger of failing to produce the product that we are all here to buy from them. And if they want to produce that product, and they want us to buy it, they need to actually know what it is. And care whether it's as good as it could be.
  9. It's a good idea to write down all the numbers from each field in the configuration window for the scaffolding too. That way if something were to go wrong part way through your build, you would be able to get the wireframe back into the same position and rotation that you have it in now.
  10. I had never used Blender before, or any other 3d modeling software. I installed it, just to fix the .obj file. You don't really have to know how to use the program. You just have to follow the steps in the tutorial video. If you had to adjust the scale of the model, when you loaded it in game on the scaffolding. You can adjust the scale in Blender, by the same percentage, and that should fix the scale. Once you have the .obj file scaled to the correct size, then try following the steps in the tutorial. I also tried using the Blender Plugin that Msoul linked above, but i found the process of installing and using the plugin to be even more confusing than the tutorial video. I will say that fixing the .obj file was well worth the trouble. It made it soooo much easier to see. Before that i was working at night, just so i could see the wireframe better.
  11. Chat actually worked in the 90s though. Not disagreeing with you, just adding my frustration lol I played Everquest back then, and you could create custom chat windows, send different types of messages to different windows. Private messages would open in a popup window. You could customize the text color so you could tell important messages from less important ones. You could even send links to items in chat, so someone else could click the link and see the full description of the item. It took them a few years to make all of those improvements. But they recognized that allowing players to communicate with each other in the game, was vital. When you see another player in DU it feels like you're on opposite sides of soundproof glass, and all you can do is wave at each other and hop around hoping to get their attention, so maybe they will switch to the right chat channel and possibly see what you are saying to them.
  12. See, if you take any word, and add a 3 to it. Now it's on the blockchain. And that means it's better.
  13. Having a decorative pet following you in 1st person is kind of pointless and bordering on annoying too. You can't even see it 99% of the time, except when it's getting in your way or darting behind you. We really need a 3rd person view. But also, i think these pets would be a lot more fun in general, if they could be placed on a Construct, instead of following us around.
  14. I think DU needs a parking system like Elite: Dangerous. You request docking permission. And then you have 30seconds to park perfectly inside your designated spot, or the station opens fire on your ship. Or the easiest solution would be for people to use their brains when they park, and don't pin someone else's ship to the platform. But i suppose that's asking too much.
  15. The Youtube tutorial that Msoul linked above worked well for me. But i also had to scale the entire model down to a much smaller size in Blender, before it became visible in game. If you use the in-game settings to scale the model down, it will shrink the diameter of the wireframe itself too. So if the model needs resizing it's better to do that in Blender first, and then follow the steps from the tutorial.
  16. Enforcing this would also mean banning anyone from playing with kids, relatives, roommates or even friends, from the same household. Either that or requiring each player to provide proof of their identity, to create an account. And banning anyone from paying for the account of a child or relative. They would have to pay an entire building full of people just to handle the process of sifting through all the bans and trying to determine which ones were valid. There are a ton or reasons why, as far as i know, no online game has ever tried to enforce something like this. It's not just about "whales".
  17. It feels like we are in round two of a cycle, where NQ launches the game. And a bunch of people are excited and begin to play it. And then a week or two later NQ decides that the most productive half of the players are consuming the content too quickly. Due to "bugs" "features" "exploits" "working as intended" whatever they decide to call it. People are playing the game. Then the nurf hammer starts to drop. But without consideration for the other half of the player base, that might not have been as productive as the first half, or maybe they just started playing yesterday. Either way, it makes the game substantially harder for them, and they start to resent anyone who had the opportunity to gain an advantage during the first few weeks after launch (or launch 2.0). I'm not sure if it's possible to bottleneck the most productive players, without hobbling the other half of the players to the point that they give up and walk away. But giving a huge advantage to the first half, and then taking it away as soon as the second half figures it out, definitely isn't helping. Telling the second half that it's something that they will be able to count on going forward. And then taking it away just before they get a taste. Maybe a balanced economy is possible. Maybe it's not. But if they are going to trip coming out of the gate, every single time. Maybe forcing a balanced economy shouldn't be prioritized over player enjoyment and retention.
  18. Recently i've noticed a bug where i will have pairs of calibration rocks spawned in the exact same spot. And when i harvest one of them, they both disappear, and i only get the ore from the one i clicked on first. It has happened on two different territories, but now that i think about it, both times, it was a territory that i have four MUs on. And i calibrated all four at once, before harvesting any ore. Has anyone else experienced this?
  19. Yet applying bandages would still be the first thing you would do. And if you shot yourself in the foot last time you fired the gun. And the time before that, and the time before that. Maybe firing off 10 more shots isn't the best idea...
  20. @EvilestOverlord Hey cool profile pic. The guy on the right looks like a badass. That's me.
  21. Did anyone? Seriously. I know people are invested in it now. And mad that it's gone. But did anyone think it made sense when they first heard about it?
  22. To be fair. They aren't calling it an exploit. They just nurfed the crap out of it. But it really sucks that they made the first statement. And then went ahead and nurfed it without any warning. I'm sure a lot of people bought and sold territories with the value being determined entirely based on that first statement. And now the value has changed drastically. Maybe i'm missing something, but i can't think of any reason that telling us ahead of time would have caused any issues. Other than them hearing people's opinions on the subject. Which they're hearing now anyway.
  23. This still creates a situation where anyone who accurately predicts when the bots will appear, has the opportunity to buy as much ore as possible and double their money overnight. And anyone who's just been stockpiling their ore will get to sell it all at 25. But anyone who's just been minding their own business and trying to enjoy the game, gets left out in the cold. I figure anyone who's selling T1 at 10/L right now probably doesn't even know about the bots. And they're probably going to be a bit disappointed to find out that they should have been waiting on the bots to come back, instead of selling their ore. This doesn't seem like a great way to treat new players.
  24. I just hope that whatever NQ decides to do. They do it as loudly and transparently as possible. Nothing sucks the fun out of a game for me, like the feeling that by playing the game, and having fun, i'm putting myself at a disadvantage. And the only way to "play" the game properly, is to lurk on the forums and Discord trying to predict what decision or bug is going to upset the economy next.
