  1. Keep in mind a Capital ship will have to have a gunner per weapon plus a pilot. So 50 people might be 20 fighters, 2 frigates of 5, a destroyer with 8 and dreadnaught of 12. It’ll be interesting to say the least. Most likely hit and run or gurella warfare then fleet battles. That saying I picture there being plenty of land and resources for a while and not a lot of reason to fight at least at the start and a good while after.
  2. it’s not required. We just want some fun loving people that like to build and explore. Also if you want to learn from people who’ve been messing with voxels for years by all means. .. and it has nothing do do with pre-alpha access. Anyone can apply if you have access or not.
  3. Landmark players are people who used to play a now canceled voxel based game called “Landmark”. Some are getting into Dual do to it’s similar voxel tech. With new people joining all the time and with alpha 1 approaching I’m just trying to corral up folk.
  4. So many new faces .. so many possible lost Landmark players. Join us.
  5. Just cover your exhaust ports. Cubes. Tubes. We’ll start “Cubes and Tubes Star Works”
  6. Grand Theft Starship: Alioth ? can we steal? Will we be limited to hacking it up for parts? Can we destroy the core and put in yours? If you do that will it loose all that precious LUA code? Who knows. Or buy a bunch of ships. Chop off bits. Make a space ‘rat rod’. I’d make one if we get rusty/imperfect voxel materials.
  7. True that. I mean you cannot stop everyone from doing everything. @Destrinmakes some beautiful ships. We cannot stop a person or org from trying trying to capitalize on his future success by making knockoffs. Hopefully people will know you’re buying fake Oakleys not the real deal. Again I really like the idea of the “hot rod shop”. Someone buys a ship and makes it ‘better’ and sells it for a profit. You can make the profit on that one ship you bought.
  8. Just went off of the 'Car' comparison which I actually like. Buy a car or 10 or 100 cars from the factory. You pay for each one. You modify each one like Roush or Hennessey or who ever does. You sell those 1, 10 or 100 ships for cost of ship + mods + markup. That is a perfect model of what I believe should be. Unless the seller purposely sold a multi use blueprint or an infinite use blueprint which could allow whatever the buy wants. I really do like the hot rod shop mentality though.
  9. So let’s break this down. You buy a corvette. You modify the corvette and sell it for more. That’s ok as long as you can do it once. The original designer got their cash. You got your cash for the upgrades and the cost of the core product. All is good. What you should NOT be able to do is buy 1 corvette, modify it then sell more then 1 copy. The cost should contain the cost of the core product which goes to the original designer and then what ever one may charge for the upgrades. You cannot sell 10 modified corvettes if your shop only bought one.
  10. I don’t like chiming I’m on this but I feel I have to at least throw my 2 quanta in on this. PTP (aka sub model) - As long as you have sustainable numbers will give you a set amount of income a month FTP (cash shop model) - income will fluctuate with the desire for new and popular emotes, decorative elements, avatar customization and the ability to just buy the elements and voxel materials you need. FTP (buy the game once and done) - finding is reliant on the initial purchase - can be combined with cash shop Those are the models that all could work IMO. The first thing that people will think of is Fortnite. Its ftp and successful therefore all games should be ftp as well. It’s a f2p game but has millions of players (125m as of June 2018). So if 1/2 of 1% spend $5 a month on the cash shop that’s $312k a month. A study I saw of fortnite players say that on average of those interviewed that they have spent on average $85 on appearance items. Dual probably won’t come close to those numbers. If DU has 100k players and each player thru The DAC system pays say a $15 sub that’s 1.5 mil a month thru buying or earning DAC (DAC is has to come from somewhere). That’s a lot. Good for paying staff, making upgrades and paying investors. On that note it would take 30 million users at 1% that spend on average of $5 a month on the cash shop to compete. Yes I don’t know what the cash shop results might result in. But going by these numbers I’ll take 100k dedicated players over 30 million trolls
  11. @OrificerChang like as mentioned in the prior reply this is best suited for the Pre-Alpha Feedback area. Looking at your profile you’re a pre-alpha tester so if you are unable to see the pre-alpha section get with @NQ-Nyzaltar or @Mod-Merwyn
  12. Welcome! We’re you a prior Landmark player?
  13. Ah so you are going. Bring me back some swag.
  14. So all you Landmarkians that pledged on Kickstarter... you’ll get alpha access! Join us.... join us...
  15. In a Twitter reply on 6/19/18 JC stated that “we will ultimately introduce player to modify voxels at the level of the HDF, so you can enjoy optimal precision.” Where in the roadmap does this fall?
  16. Damn you @Tordan i had to watch the video again and now I’m sad
  17. So I was thinking about the fine print of designing and selling blueprints. I did search for this but didn’t come up with anything so if I’m rehashing a past topic I apologize. Maybe I used the wrong terms when searching. I have come to think of DU as a Ready Player One of sorts. Be who you want to be. Build what you want to build. Fly around in the Serenity and park it in your personal Battlestar. Now that being said, people are going to build X-wings, Normandys, Sulacos and Gunstars. That can’t be stopped. BUT... Part of the idea of the game is to build and SELL blueprints to make a galactic living. The price of things in game can go back to being able to exchange for DACs which have a real world cost. That being said, what’s the legality of someone selling in game assists that are based on an existing IP being that in game items can eventually be traced back to real world costs? It’ll cost you 5 DACs for a blueprint of an Enterprise with a shuttle craft. Anywho.. those are my current thoughts. Peace, love and “For Science”!
  18. PvP will be like an Oklahoma Sooners land grab at the start. People claiming land, others not happy about it. Then after a bit we’ll realize that there’s plenty of room for all an then all we need to do is defend ourselves from the trolls.
  19. With all the new folk regularly rolling in I'm here to remind them if you miss Landmark, there's an org here for you.
