Arguing over a game mechanic is only partially implemented.... summed up in a nutshell.

fking casuals- "This needs to be nerfed or the game will die!"

Everyone else who is ACTUALLY Testing stuff- "PVP is a WIP, get good or stay in the safe zone.."

Also, your going to loose your ship at some point. whether thru your own error and crashing it on a planet or by it being blown up. if you can't take the time to prepare, or expect to keep that ship forever. than you clearly have no idea about how these kind of games work.

Umm, while they did make some changes; you should really read patch notes:

your not wrong and i agree with a lot of what you have said. I just expected it from the start as I have done this dance so many times. even with all the issues this game has way more promise than the toxic mess that is now EVE. If they play everything right, I'm betting there will be a decent influx of eve players who just want to be traders and ship builders who can get a protected plot and not worry about rebuilding a ship every other day. well only time will tell at this point.

I love pvp and Darkage had some of the best around, but i do enjoy the risk vs reward in these games, like eve, last oassis, SE and so forth.

right, even being annoyed about the bull disconect issue, the game is still worth it. But yeah warhammer is the top of my my wtf list for released mmo's

If you are paying money for a type of game testing that you don't understand, you should ask for a refund and stop playing betas.  This is the same issues that happen in every free/paid/closed/open betas ever.  What helps is reporting issues, having patience and reading about the work being done to solve the issues.  If you are paying for a beta, you are paying to support a game you want to see come to fruition, not so you can play early and not have a single issue.  If you can't handle bug and issues, STOP TRYING TO PLAY IN A BETA.  Then if you have issues with a full release game your complaints will sound valid instead of just ignorant.

this is how you know people never read the disclaimers.... They state in black and white that the game is not 100% and to expect S. to happen. welcome to the world.

Oh man, I was living in EU when Warhammer Online released, that was beyond a sht show. No comparison to Dual Universe.
For those of you that have stated this is the worse release haven't been playing MMOs for very long.

Additionally, DU is doing something different and not your standard MMO.
Still, I'd like to think a lot of the current issues we're experiencing should've been addressed in previous alphas but I do understand certain issues only arise with real traffic, users, etc.

Also I would like to add, that even though they are small and have not publicly addressed some of the issues brought up here; they do have a job posting on thier website a few days ago for a senior network/server engineer. So there is hope, time will tell.

now if only I was stil working remote I could be playing instead of being in the office.

There probably are Youtube videos but this is the way I have been working it if you prefer a text guide. Hope it helps.

    1. Open the scanner, No3 button.
    2. Press Tab and click the graph in the middle of the screen.
    3. Leave whatever ore you want highlighted at the bottom.
    4. Press tab again once your done.
    5. Run around until you pick up a signal on the graph(line with a dot), if the dot moves further away on the right of the graph go the other way.
    6. Once it stops moving closer or further away open your map, zoom in and set destination on yourself which will put a marker in the world.
    7. From the marker you just set, move north then south, east and west. If the distance to the ore(the dot on the graph) get closer, re-mark your map at the closest point.
    8. Once your happy you can't get the dot any closer this way you should be more or less directly over the ore, re-mark your position on the map(set destination).
    9. Take note of your Elevation - top right, next to the mini map.
    10. When you are on your marker subtract your Elevation from the distance to the ore. The result is your target depth,  more or less directly below your marker.
    11. Move some distance way from the marker, 100-200m ish, it doesn't have to be exact.
    12. Press L to turn on your light, this will give you a gauge on the right of the screen that shows at what angle you are pointing down or up. Around 45-60 degrees is comfortable and makes it easy to navigate up and down your tunnels, although 75 degree is managable
    13. Dig down until you reach your target depth, you will go underwater a lot, don't worry you are in a suit and can't drown. You are aiming to be at your target depth directly below your marker on the mini-map. If you over shoot before you hit your depth just dig around in a spiral, if you reach your depth before you reach the marker just dig along at 0 degree until you're under the marker.
    14. Once your at the right depth below your marker, hit no3 scanner again, you should be a lot closer now.
    15. If you are more than 50m away from the ore on the graph use the flatten tool to open up a large space at the end of your tunnel.
    16. Run around the large space you just created following the first steps so you are getting closer to the ore again. (Alt+ Click does a manual scan)
    17. Once you get below 50 m press tab, at the bottom you can set it to Short range. Just run around on short range until you're getting closer again. Increase the area you are running around in with the flatten tool again to give you more room to scan.
    18. Once you are around 25-30m away you can switch to the number 4 directional scanner. This one is a lot more precise so you have to move it slowly around the screen, zig zag back and forward slowly all around you. When you are pointing at the ore with this scanner, you will hear static and see a small vertical line appear at the bottom of the scan window.
    19. Once you have the line simply mine a tunnel in that direction. You have a maximum range you can reach with your mine tool from where you are standing, you should only have to dig 1 or 2 times in the direction of the ore to maximum reach. Stop and check you are still heading the right way after a short distance.
    20. The ore will appear as a green highlighted material, just use your mining tool on this to extract the ore.

The ore chunks underground are pretty big(4-5k of ore on Sanctuary and up to millions of Litres on other planets in Mega nodes), just be careful not to lose sight of your access tunnel or mine down too much so you can't reach it. If you have trouble you can always just mine your way back to the surface.
Pending Operation is server lag, just give it a chance to catch up.
If you made too many tunnels trying to pinpoint ore you can mine dirt and block passages you don't need to make it easier. Open your inventory, at the top right select keep none precious ore, mine some soil, snow or whatever from anywhere around you. Right click the ore in your inventory and hit equip. Look at the tunnel you wish to block and with the mine tool selected hit alt click to place some of the soil. Just be aware the soil takes up inventory space too, you might want to discard it once you have blocked passages.

I agree with Graxxor; having tested many games over the years, this is nothing new. I would probably be more worried if they had 0 issues.

Also to be fair this is probably the most people they have had on what is a hugely un-optimized game framework. They did some stress testing before "beta" but i'm sure the servers still were not pushed nearly as hard as they are right now. Adding in more hardware to compensate takes time. So whether i'm frustrated or not from server issues I can understand and never hold it against the developer unless they push forward without addressing it. So be patient and give them to at least mid-September. 2 weeks is not a realistic expectation if they have to add more hardware into the cluster, or have to chase network issues. As I see it; its probably part hardware resource and part bandwidth bottle-necking.

That being said whether its Alpha, or Beta, it is still a game under active development and prone to issues, one of the biggest any game in development can face is server stability; more so in an MMO. Warhammer faced similar issues from a rushed beta to active live and the servers could not handle the mostly untested city sieges. Totally helped kill what should have been a great game.

I have a fairly decent spec computer and gigabyte fiber for internet. So While i have some issue here and there, its mostly rendering at high speed movement and the annoying pending action message. I think i have had a total of 6 crashes, 4 of which were in various alpha tests. The only thing recent was doing some tutorials and not having ground render and things like that. Also had to delete a door to progress thru one of the steps that got stuck for some reason.

Fair point, but to scale they still need to know how much to scale it by, even if the service can auto-crunch the numbers how many new people are joining or have joined since the nda was lifted. That number is probably going to double; so even if they could add everything in tomorrow they may be back in the same boat as now by end of the month. Plus it's not technically a product launch its the next step in testing. this stuff is expected to happen. Promising the tech they did, they have made fair progress, it wasn't as bad as it is now during alpha and the stress testing. I feel people expect to much of a finished product from something they know is under development. You get to be part of the gears that can make this game great, do what a quality assurance tester would do, take the issue and write a bug report, then give them time to fix said issue. For example if you fly at speed sometimes the ground rendering in can cause your speeder to flip and jink about in the air. write a report then don't fly so fast so close to the ground. simple.

From what I recall most mmo's I played probably used upwards of 500mb-1gb / hour while netflix uses 1-3gb / hour of streaming. But netflix does not have the same back and forth, so while netflix may use more bandwidth, it does not have to crunch player position and mining updates. That pending action message just proves my point that there is a bottleneck they have to overcome that is probably a culmination of things that can't just be done quickly. Plus if you have traveled at any speed you can clearly see the time it takes to render the new areas; so part optimizing assets.

So like I said, I would expect it to be better in about 2 weeks from now after they had a chance to push changes and see the results. After all its only been 3 weeks for people who had alpha access and whatever keys they gave out, and only about a week with the new influx. Got to be realistic in expectations, even more so when projected needs are torpedoed and have to go to the money man to fix it.
