    How will it be secure?
     
    Loans etc i understand, but unless money will be a physical object in game, there is literally no reason to put money away with a bank, and no reason for the bank to do it as interest will just make the bank loose money.
     
    How on earth will you enforce changes in discord reflecting in game transfers? Even if you could enforce it, you have to physical be at where the resources are to get them, unless you hire someone to bring them to you, costing people who use this service more. In game local markets will prosper for this reason.
     
    While i can see in game stocks in orgs becoming a thing through private investment groups such as luminous, i cant see why someone would do it through your system instead of contacting the organisation directly, as for a business, which you are, to profit, money has to be took from somewhere, so it is likely you would be charging a fee on top of it.

    In regards to the concerns over the Odal (Othala) rune, I did base the original logo design off the rune, and elongated it, adding pointed tips to the wings to give it some distinctive features. At the time, I didn’t know that the rune had been associated with neo-nazi groups. I’ve more recently become aware of this and anticipated that it could become an issue. Clearly, our intention is not to promote these groups or their ideologies in any way. In the end, we went with the logo because of the aesthetics and thought it evoked the shape of a starship as @Shockeray pointed out.
     
    The logo has already become a recognizable symbol of our corp to many within the community, so our hope is that we can fully associate this symbol with our contribution to the world as a ship-building corporation in Dual Universe. We acknowledge the similarities, and ultimately it is at the discretion of NovaQuark whether we should be allowed to use the emblem. As much as the logo has become an important part of our identity, we respect any issues the others may find with it and are open to opinions on the topic.

    Figured I'd start up a thread for the new web series myself and the media team at BOO are doing now alongside our other meme productions. We'll be releasing multiple episodes (roughly once per month) until we reach the conclusion of this series. This is a film mash up of every Sci Fi movie I could find, all stitched together to tell one story. PS: Looking for someone good with audio mixing to dub voices etc. hit me up if interested.

    Ships get their names due to the line of operation range.

    Frigates and Destroyers / Hunter Killers, operate in a Line of Defense.

    Cruisers are Ships of the Line, and are meant to patrol between two different places, with a greater operational range.

    Battle-class ships, are not peacetime warships, they Line of Battle vessels, meant to openly engage targets.

    Frigates, if outfitted for sieging ports, are dubbed Destroyers, they are meant to subdue enemy entrenchments with superior firepower and assist on landing oeprations, or assist by taking shots at a ship with larger caliber weaponry. Frigates designed to be fast and very effective close range - where enemy ships' large caliber weapons do not work very well or at all - are dubbed Hunter Killers. U-Boats the Nazis used, were retrofitted Hunter Killers, they could emerge RIGHT NEXT to an enemy destroyer or frigate and just machinegun anyone on board to death. 40mm machineguns at 10 meters range, are DEVASTATING, I am talking puncturing ship armor through.

    Cruisers, when fitted with armor are refered to Heavy Cruisers, while those who are fitted for speed are referred to as Light Cruisers. All cruisers are designed with that convention in mind.

    Battleships and Battlecruisers, are the exact same hull, one just has far less armor, hence it's more speedy. As you can imagine, Battleships are the costliest thing in a navy, and usually, the one everyone with a lick of sense wants to find themselves in.  Carriers are Line of Battle ships, it's just so happens their Line of Battle is as far as its Fighters can take off from.

    Dreadnaughts are just Battleships on crack, more guns + more armor = no dread.
     
    Corvette is just a frigate used for defense purposes only, like for the Coastguard.
     
     
    As for the crew-size requirement... that's  not what dictates a ship's class. If that was the case Stealth Bombers would be called Air Porsche cause they are only demanding of two people, and Stealth Fighters would be called "Air Unicycle". It's the ship's cross-section that makes its class. It's also how stealth works for ships nowadays. Most of the newer "stealth" frigates, just work by confusing enemy RADAR to read their frigate sized cross-section as a sailboat cross-section. Enemy RADAR goes like "oh, nothing but a fisherman, nothign to see here".

    And NQ has showecased they do utilise things like cross-sections in their videos.

    I'm not saying I'd build a hunter killer, but I am just saying I love small crew ships that go very up, close and personal with an enemy.

    Did you actually read the link I sent, or are you just being nasty for the sake of nastiness? Nyzaltar specifically said that they are avoiding making construct collision damage other constructs because the technology isn't good enough yet. I am absolutely certain that the Devs know more about what is possible with their own tech than you do, and to suggest otherwise is monumentally arrogant. Your argument simply doesn't have a leg to stand on.

    You can have all that, that's his point. You can make a radio and you can have newspapers. They're only OOG and not ingame, so what? 
    You could have that even on the community portal (maybe that transfers over to DU, or you can link a site there with lua to in-game screens. So there you have your newspaper. Just organize it and start writing

    while NQ wouldn't put content in an in game newspaper, it would still cost them time and manpower to do and maintain. Also, in game newspapers and radios wouldn't be in demand at all. Reddit, the forums and just the general internet (think sites such as outpost zebra) would be used over an in game one 99% of the time as it would cover more stuff, and not cost the person wanting the news anything, and if a player needs to know something specific relating to their organisation, then they will use messaging within the involved parties. Same thing with the choosing a free, external option over an in game option that costs in game money for the radios, there won't be much demand for them at all. The only situations I can see someone using the radios for are as a novel item to use among friends for a few minutes, or if someone with an extremely low end pc relative to DU specs couldn't run DU while any major applications are open apart from DU.

    First of all, the game servers will be wiped before main launch.

    As for the tutorials covering current politics and such, that's just not NQ's job. There will be plenty of things on the internet that will tell you everything you will need to know at the time. Same goes for travel time and distances, the most NQ needs to do for that imo is maybe a current distance between planets (Sorry guys, cant remember if they change or not) on a system / star map IF they implement that. Newspapers would also fall into the category of not NQ's job and a thing that will come about in various forms on the internet anyways.
     
    You don't need an in game communications capable of coordinating ~3000 players, things like discord and teamspeak CAN be used for that through groups, roles and different channels, i would like to see you explain how they couldn't. If discord integration is supported, then you can change voice channels from in game as well. An in-game radio communication system would just add extra unneeded complexity, as well as meaning the devs have more stuff to work on that they don't 100% need. Also, there is no way that an empire would have no way of communicating with it's members if an in game comms system went down. Any organisation that has got as big as you are saying wouldn't be sane if they only relied on an in game thing that CAN be disrupted over an external thing that CAN'T (excluding alts and traitors/defectors here) be disrupted. That leads me on to how 'hacking' and spying to disrupt will exist anyways even if an in game thing wasn't implemented, through those alts and traitors and all that stuff.
