NQ's wipe is like: someone you love but everytime you ask him/her to start a relationship he/she says 'I dont know'.  Asking every day for a month and still: I dont know...

Can we just date, can we just be friends on Facebook? I dont know...

The truest words I ever did hear!

To be honest its their first one so it was always going to be hard to make it a good one. I think it would probably have been better to wait until release for this kind communications though.

Actually they have done several dev vlogs with video and audio. They want to make it appear that they are doing something new, but in all honestly I don't think they liked the community seeing their body language as they laughed at our frustrations before when NQ-Pann was around. To me it seems they want to control just how much info we can see, in their format of communication.

It didn't even really seem like actual dialog, more pre-scripted/recorded answers spliced together to make it seem like a conversation.

Just red flag after red flag.

Noveans, please share your thoughts about Ask Aphelia Episode #1, here.

I wish there was a way to downvote (In a way that is publicly visible) NQ's rushed and half baked communications.
Especially when they don't provide the critical info the community is looking for on a very critical decision that impacts gameplay.

The act of "Quick Look Busy" for the community is seriously eroding the morale of what little remains of the active community.

  4. DU has less gameplay than SL (Second Life), with no real ability to customize your character, and an even worse social interface/system.
Second Life was never even really "a game" as much as a seamless grid of chat rooms inside a 3D environment.

The failing of DU among many is the top heavy complex technical systems vs. actual stuff to do that is enjoyable outside of building/flying.

  5. With current state of game if they release they will have an influx of probably 50,000 players in one month, servers will tank, game will be review bombed on game review sites, and the population will fall to around 5k players probably, that will taper back to a little more than what we have over a 6 month period.

I don't care what the dev's say about how many players they supposedly have. What I care about it what I see. Which is usually the same 20 some people in chat, and then Me, Myself, and I in my area.

Regardless of wipe or no wipe, there is a ton of grind and not a lot of reason for grinding.

Ah yes, another post announcing there will be an announcement in the future, I'm sure that will calm everyone's hearts.

    DU Development Roadmap:

June 1st - Come out with a podcast ignoring questions, promising answers in the future.
July 1st - Make another forum post stating how much they have learned based on our feedback.
August 1st - Make a news letter repeating the difficulty of making this decision.
September 1st - Make another podcast talking in more circles about upcoming due date to make a decision.
December 1st - Decide to wipe.
Feb 1st of 2023 - Actually do the wipe and take the servers down for 2-3 weeks.
March 1st - Talk about the difficulty of resetting the servers.
June 1st of 2023 - Open the servers post wipe...

P.S. Charge for subscriptions the whole time. 🤣

  7. If you look at how their post was framed for pro's vs. con's there is a 95% chance of a wipe.

It really seems there is a strong lean towards a wipe, I think the discussion is not a matter of if but when they will do it, and what will be wiped. More partial or full, and honestly I think they are leaning towards a full wipe. I have no ambition to play at all these days until this is figured out, no reason I should grind for the next few weeks when the wipe is pretty certain.

I also unfortunately don't feel it is a big loss not to play this game in it's current state either.

  8. Pre all the F'ery and changes I played this game for hours upon hours daily and enjoyed myself immensely.
I had an in-game store producing builds, and was making quanta off of my builds. Life felt good.

Now I play on an alt account, I calibrate my MUs, and build only the essentials for myself (no longer sell designs), and play mostly on weekends.
The game feels dead, boring, and I am sad, yet still here hoping a miracle happens.

I honestly believe this game will probably struggle on like this for a few more years, flop at launch, and servers will shut down.

Hardest part is I see some really good small detail based improvements, but overall the game is boring as hell even if this is your niche.

  9. - I wishlist or wait for a full year to see the reviews.
    - Then I buy them on discount around seasonal sails.
    - My wishlist is limited to 10 titles.

I will probably buy Starfield on sale even, but will probably still pay $39.95 during one of it's discounts.

I no longer buy anything "full price" as usually the discounted price was the intended target price for the company on any product, then they added 20-30%+ to the price and then discount it to make it appear like they are giving you a good deal and can tap into FOMO (Fear of Missing Out).

After having completed my Digital Marketing degree last year, I have learned there are SO MANY predatory marketing practices used by companies to get us to spend money.

If I buy something full price it is a tool for my business, or something I can use to generate income, or that will last me 20-30 years (like my ruck pack).

  10. Honestly, I was trying to add some humor cause Pann was going around locking every other thread yesterday even if they were valid as a blind sort of forum clean up.
That said I hate the stacked element exploit just as much as basic members of the community telling other basic members to "stfu" or leave the forums, etc.

Too be fair my post didn't contribute much, but I had planned on circle back around later in the discussion. Sometimes a small goofball post though is how I keep tabs on important threads I want to follow by leaving a breadcrumb post as I did.

All of that out of the way... back to stacked elements...

They need removed. Players have had enough time and enough warning that they should have gotten their plans sorted by now to fix this issue. Same as nested org exploit that went on forever, same as anything before that. If I can lose a 2 year project that was my reason for logging into DU every day, then everyone else can stop using exploits to screw other players with unfair advantage.
