MadmanMac reacted to Aaron Cain in Pity - this game had such potential...
Frankly, when they promoted the game with Build large, Spacestations as large as the moon, play alone or with others, Freedom rich PvP Player driven Market, build civilization!
I did not think it would turn up like this.
What we got was something totally different:
Build on large cores what is  very small, spacestations very small and large is possible by placing more cores that you cannot link or merge with eachother so you have a borgcluster and not a station, Do not play alone or we will Find you and limit you and also we give out gifts to large organizations but dont tell, Freedom within limitations and boundaries, Plaer driven to NPC markets, rich through exploids not PvP, build puzzles not civilazation.

@NQ-AdminI (probably we, if i know the others who are critical as well as i think)  still love the original concept and do think NQ has some really great developers but the strategical desicions made do the project more harm then good and when you look at what it Can be verses what it is going to be, the road we are walking now leads to a limited vanila modless SE server with Clanginized PvP and defect B&R and only lvl1 handdrilling allowed with extra restrictions on production blocks and progression steps cost an exponential factor per level.

I already have SE with less restrictions, why would i need one with more?

Please live up to your potential!  Do not linger in satisfaction for dreams half progressed, Be what you Can be, Live Life Die another day, Roll Back instead of growing molds, Be Brave and go there where No Company has gone before! Reach out to the community because We did hear you, we did read your posts and we do see the strugle that is there. We Do want to support, But Damn you make it so hard for us to actually do so.

Critizism and comments are easier given to those/things you carry close to the heart as you want them/it to flourish. You do not punish your kids because you hate them, you try to teach them ways to be glorious adults.

Dont see our comments and critizism in any other way, We love your game, we love your work. But the direction this leads to we have seen fail before and we want to keep this glorious project from going into That route.

MadmanMac reacted to Daphne Jones in NQ Your lack of action regarding the schematic fiasco is disturbing
You know what would really destroy what confidence I have left would be for them to roll back and delete the substantial update to one of my ships that I made while this bug was in place.

I didn't know about the bug at the time, and, since I don't do industry except for my fuel facility that I got back up the day after 0.23 dropped, I didn't benefit from it... but you want to punish me for it?

Much better that we let the beneficiaries slide. You can't prove that they knew the schematics were underpriced. You can't prove that they wouldn't have paid full price for the schematics they needed during that time if that option had been available. The players didn't do anything wrong. NQ did. (And it was an honest mistake - no punishment for NQ either lol)

    1) Destroy new emperor of Empire, the usurper must die a thousand deaths
    2) Anderson, if seen, must be trapped in a borg cube and immediately brought to The Court of the Prophet
    3) If Sybily is spotted, every Talemai resident and contractor must immediately give Sybily 2 small adjusters

MadmanMac reacted to Xennial in Warp removing any risk from pvp needs to end.
All I can envision when people talk about warp interdiction is gank squads sitting around cackling about nuking any ship that warps in. Whats that players alternative? Oh yeah slow boat hours of RL time to get to a planet to still be intercepted by the gank squad, or add hours to try and maneuver around to come at the planet from non traditional travel lanes.

There is no simple solution here thats going to be palatable to the general player base. I would much rather see warp removed entirely and max speed cap be removed. My guess is the server tech simply cannot handle ships moving that fast which is largely why warp works the way it does.

If you want warp to require risk by dropping outside of safe zones etc , then weapon ranges should be dramatically reduced to allow some chance for a ship to out maneuver another and escape a fight. ECM or other defensive measure need to be added to under such a scenario.

You don't solve the lack of PvP by simply turning unsafe space into gank town.

You are going to severely kill off a LOT of your player base doing this. I hope you guys have banked enough cash from those subscriptions to carry you through, what will undoubtably be, some very lean times ahead.

Yes, I realise this is a Beta, the question is, do those that are actually paying the monthly light bills realise it ?

The Support Ticket system. I have myself had now a ticket in Support, not one answer to it in three Months. I had one in the support previously, over a month trying to fix a problem in which they basically walked me through everything over and over that can be found after five minutes searching the forums and support pages, and which, I had already done. Ultimately, I managed to add-hoc a fix myself and even today, I am un-able to join the game without running through a vpn.  Those people that have larger issues and paying for something they are un-able to login to though,  do you really expect them to just pay for something they cant use whilst waiting for Support to one day get back to them ?

The ticket support system is a running joke and all I have seen in the discord and various other support places is them sending more and more people into that hot mess.

1️⃣ Game needs to be fixed.

2️⃣ Support needs to be fixed.

Every other thing being considered or talked about needs to be secondary to those two agendas or else you might very well find yourselves with a rapidly decreasing player base. On the one hand this would be great for the server as it would mean minimal amounts of strain and those remaining could play lag and issue free.  However for the few that stay n end up playing the game with just some of the dev team, I dunno if Id want to continue logging into that ?

Go ahead, talk about all the issues you want to, it wont count to a tall hill o beans without fixing those two bad boys first,  and quickly.

I don think this game is ready for more advertising, let alone steam, lolz. It should never have come out into Beta in its current state and it in no way should be charging people a set price, let alone a sub, to join the game now. They would be better off, closing the doors, going back into Alpha, and coming back into Beta when it is far far more polished than it is currently. All they are doing now is alienating players from the very base that they will need later.

Is there any confirmation that this was possible due to RDMS misconfiguration? I haven't seen any.

Even if so, to all you people who compare this to previous RDMS theft, there's a significant difference that can't just be tagged with "hypocrisy" and be called done: this "heist" didn't just target NQ - above all it was an attack against all of us and I have a hard time reading your postings defending that.

The most important difference between a construct owned by a player versus Aphelia is not a question of customer versus provider. The difference is in the number of players that rely on it and would be affected negatively. As said above, this was an attack against all of us - not just because "some of us" lost market orders, but because "all of us" now can expect a delay on the next update and other issues because NQ needs to tend to this issue now. In addition it impacts trust and cooperation between the player base and the provider.

Even if you are right and this theft is technically the same as other RDMS theft, it's still a vastly different thing to sabotage "our game and NQ's development" versus "a player's construct" - to me that's not hypocrisy but apples versus oranges. On the note of real world examples: this is like going to a building site and steal the copper pipes because there was no door. Just that this is the building we all want to live in, not just the shed of some hermit.

Many people, including me, think NQ should be more transparent and communicate openly - but by solely reading this thread I almost wouldn't want to talk to you anymore in their stead... but that doesn't take into account that I also think we're in this situation because they didn't communicate properly in the first place. Now people are jumping to conclusions again, calling them out based on made-up hypotheses alone, not really knowing anything? First paragraph of this answer: RDMS misconfiguration? Give me the link to that NQ confirmation first, on which your bad "reaction" vibes are based please - otherwise you're not reacting but just acting based on an imagined reality. I'm sorry if I just missed that piece of information about RDMS misconfiguration if there was anything official - even tho it still wouldn't change my general opinion.

The critics regarding "Why is Aphelia's market build and stored dynamically?" is easy to answer: player markets are planned. So setting up hard coded markets and then create another system with redundant functionality would be a waste of time. Aphelia owned markets are ground work for player owned markets and lets all of us test and harden it before we put our own terminals down. Once that happens markets will be spilled all over the game world and it would be a lot harder to maintain/fix/develop the system with an ever changing number of markets and different market configurations than working with a fixed set of Aphelia owned markets now.

Btw: it's been said here that Aphelia "is a player" - but that's not true. At best it's an NPC character that doesn't even have an avatar standing around in game. Aphelia doesn't set up RDMS policies either - again just presuming that it was "owners fault".

Ok, it may look like "Done to you? Haha! Done to us? Nono!" but to me that's way too simple and feels like a reaction of someone holding a grudge because of his personal situation or hurt feelings regarding prior injustice (for which we don't know why what decision made on which grounds). Some thought NQ only posted those announcements because "people whined" and refused to listen before their very special exploit was directly listed, even tho NQ clearly stated it as general rules - well, now at least you know, eh?

To those who say it's not clearly stated in the rules that you can't dismantle a market if it's in jeopardy because of "RDMS misconfiguration" (unconfirmed afaict) and the issue therefore should be treated exactly like any other player base RDMS scam, here's an excerpt from the EULA that Naerais referred to in the original post:
    Source https://www.dualuniverse.game/legal/eula

^ If destroying a market ain't "detrimental to the proper functioning" I don't know what else could be. Permanent ban? Correct decision. This wasn't an accident - this was a deliberate act. And Naerais said explicitly that there was no report made by the people in question. Hence they put their lust for publicity and their ego above the well-being of everyone else in this community and even above the spirit of the beta, where we're supposed to help test and report issues to aid development. It's a 180° deviation from this ship's course and if they failed to see that they should not be part of this.

Even tho yesterday I told some friends I think "if NQ got balls" they could remove the stolen elements that players normally don't have access to and otherwise just say "gg" - meaning I would've be fine with that too - but when I said that I didn't know the magnitude or that players' orders would be affected.

To those who say that they don't want to test anymore because they don't know if that test could lead to them being banned: I agree, if you can't tell the difference between a) testing if you can remove unimportant elements from a market that you know you shouldn't have access to and then report and refrain from doing more harm, versus b) ripping a market apart, utterly destroying it... then yes, I agree that you should stop testing. But I'm pretty sure that distinction should be rather easy for everyone, so I'd suggest and prefer if you'd just rethink that over exaggerating stance

    tl;dr
Seeing them finally taking action is highly welcome. I'm all for "innocent until proven guilty" - but this case is without any doubt. I hope future decisions will be just as strict when there's sufficient evidence to act without risk of hitting the wrong target. And I hope that they'll soon be up to date with reports again and act faster - right now we don't even know if the past exploit thefts (not RDMS mistakes) will remain without action or if they're still investigating. Tracing an issue and distinguishing it from normal/legit behaviour can be pretty difficult and take time. Just because we haven't seen action for that yet doesn't mean it's not gonna come at some point - even if they could act quickly on the "market heist" issue, which just means that the facts were clear and it was easy to trace and act.

Swap Spot swaps your Ore for Elements, you don’t need Quanta, nothing to buy, just Swap!

Swap Spot is your own personal industry without you needing to know a thing about industry!

Don’t waste time digging needlessly, comparing prices and traveling from market to market, get popular Elements at Swap Spot!

Swap Spot is much more than a combination of Industry and Market!

Swap Spot is hundreds of times faster than nano-pack crafting and substantially faster than traditional industry complexes.

Swap Spot delivers a variety of Elements simultaneously and in volume, without you needing to touch an industry machine or know a single recipe!

Swap Spot runs at maximum resource efficiency and evaluates ore fairly, unlike traditional markets that often pay a fraction of what its worth.

Swap Spot is vertically integrated, cutting out all the middle men!

Swap Spot’s efficiency and fairness means that your ore is worth more, which means more Elements and less digging!

Swap Spot enables Ore Freedom! Only got coal to swap? No problem! Swap Spot will still make Elements for you!

That’s right, you DO NOT need to provide the exact ore needed to make the elements you need!

Just provide Swap Spot with the ore it needs. That’s Ore Freedom – that’s Swap Spot!

    How does Swap Spot work?

    * Your ore is assigned Resource Points, RP for short.

    * The higher the RP, the more valuable that ore is to the Swap Spot.

    * Elements have a set RP value.

    * Swap Spot swaps the ore RP value for the Element RP value.

Step 1) Determine that you have enough ores at the value shown to order the elements you need.

Step 2) Simply click the name of the element(s) you want on the screen.

    Step 3) Using the +1 / +10 / -1 / -10 buttons assign the number of element you want

Step 4) you can use the <Page / Page> buttons to move through the several pages of available elements.

Step 5) The total order value is shown on the top of the screen, assuming you have enough ores to start the transaction click on the ORDER button at the bottom of the screen.

Note: You can order multiple different elements at the same time speeding up the process dramatically.

Step 6) Once you order your elements simply deposit the ores you wish to swap in the provided container hubs.

The ore gets removed and Resource Points, RP's, are assigned to your order and are tallied at the bottom of the screen.

(Please make sure you have enough ore to fully pay for your order.)

Step 7) Then simply wait for the Swap Spot to deliver your order - note deliveries can take several minutes, so please be patient.

When an element arrives in a container hub the light next to it will flash

Note: Swap Spot delivers the higher Resource Point elements first.

Step 8 ) Once you have all your items simply leave the Swap Pod.

This will auto end the transaction.

Swap Spot makes getting Elements easy!

Oh, you don't have ores? No problems! Swap Spot is surrounded by six, yes SIX hexes for surface rock gathering!  Sure, its not ideal, but, it means you can go from zero to hero in a very short time!

(And its also great for parking!)

Swap Spot is ideal for newbies, veterans, individuals and corps alike; anyone who wants the best value for their ore!

Need Quanta? Sell Swap Spot Elements on the Market!

Swap Spot is under construction and has a small, but growing selection of available Elements.

Just a suggestion, and I hope that it might be considered for addition into the game at some point.

Containers and linking to industry. On the surface a pretty simple thing but once you start upscaling it can grow real complicated, real fast. (at least for my teeny tiny anyhows ?)

Though I guess going into a build with all the stuff needed and a solid plan is the best way to go at it, building a frame structure only, dumping down all the industry where you want, being able to clearly see where all the lines are going etc. But, if your new at it, or enlarging an industry in an already built structure, then you are going to have issues tracing those lines, not because you didn't name all your containers and industry (if you didn't then good luck sorting out that hot mess) but because more often than not you cant see where those links are going, a problem compounded more with multiple floors.

Anyhow, to the suggestion.......  In containers and industry, under the containers tab, wouldn't it great to be able to select Input / Output links via a dropdown searchable list of all the constructs linkable elements. Even better if we could see how many links are used/available on each one of those elements. And Even Better if we could also see to which elements they are currently (if any) linked to.

Please, for the sake of my sanity and mental well being , make this happen ?

I totally get that...but I think NQ could manage expectations far better.

They said "hey the game is now in public beta, come sign up for a subscription and play!" -- I think many players expected a more stable product in return for their money.

You can't really blame people for "expecting too much."

It was up to NQ to set those expectations and communicate the honest state of the game. How they present the product to the consumer is 100% up to them.

They could have called it a public alpha and not done so much press -- they still would have attracted a lot of new players for funding and testing, only without souring the first impressions for so many new people. They presented it as a beta with some bugs, not "help us be our alpha QA, and pay us for it please"...

It is a public launch -- no matter what label you slap on it, when you charge for a product and present it as being usable in your marketing, you can't blame the customer for being disappointed.

I will absolutely be coming back and playing ( yeah i paid for a year ? ) -- hopefully this influx gives NQ the funding they need, but I worry they're going to need to earn back the trust of a lot of players...and that instead of doing that they are going to dig in and become a super-niche product that never has the resources it needs.
