  1. I haven't seen anything for DU out of Gamescom yet, but I know one of our guys got hands on with the demo so that's a plus.

And like others said, confirmation of Pre-Alpha has certainly made pledges jump. I think we'll hit that goal just fine, as long as some video comes out of Gamescom to get the hype rolling. All in all really glad to see it come this far.

I'm not saying you're not a big fan for not taking off work, I'm saying your attitude about the whole thing reflects that sentiment more than anything.

If you're completely nonchalant about the pre-alpha releasing to all of the gold and higher backers, then you're missing the point entirely.

This is one of the single most pivotal moments for the game, here Novaquark is finally going to be able to prove whether or not their server technology works, and whether or not the game can actually scale up to handle even the relatively small group of players coming in who have founders packs. If this works, then Novaquark will have proven something that is a huge deal to the MMO world, even in a pre-alpha state.

What I see here is people, whom I would have expected should understand what it means, basically shrugging it off like it's not a big deal.

I mean aren't you supposed to ATV members, people who were picked as community representatives for the game in this early stage?

I look over at the Star Citizen community and they're crawling over each other to take time off to play their game, they have people making insane art, and people cosplaying vending machines from the game even. Their fans are hardcore.

I look over here, and I see people basically going "meh". It makes it seem like they just picked random people who post a lot on the forums as ATV members instead of their biggest fans. ATV members should be encouraging people and getting people excited for this, not just reacting like this is a non-event.

You were chosen to help test the game in an Alpha state, or you pledged high enough for Alpha, either way shrugging this off because it's not the full release or because the world is getting wiped doesn't make sense, you knew exactly what this was going to entail.

    This is why we're here.

Similar, but "Channel Commander" allows for assigning a commander permission to players so that they can all communicate on a secondary channel (the commander's channel) rather than having the ability to speak to all channels at once.

In any sufficiently large Eve TeamSpeak, Channel Commander is how fleet commanders are able to coordinate amongst others leaders. That's why you'll often hear them telling everyone to STFU, because they're trying to listen on the commander's channel (effectively being in two channels at once).

I'll add that in the post as well, im not picky about the feature, just as long as get we something.

It may be worth promoting this Discord suggestion as well because it accomplishes the same thing you're looking for (and has more votes):

Has the highest votes for this subject.

  5. So, considering Discord is the widely used communications program throughout our community here, thought it would be a good idea to rally up some support to get a feature request to go through that every group here could benefit from. There are several threads on the Discord site for this so I listed below the best ones to vote for. (imo)

SHARE PLEASE - Just copy the link below and share it across any other discord servers you are apart of.

EDIT (Use this one) - https://feedback.discordapp.com/forums/326712-discord-dream-land/suggestions/13510158-add-ability-to-shout-talk-to-all-channels-for-larg

Note: There are some other threads made for this request, but this one is what we found to be matching what we think best suits our and DUs needs.

"I'm a part of a few Discord servers for gamers that have assembled fleets(in Elite: Dangerous mainly but I suppose this would also help other players groups) that have masses of members. So we found that the best way to organise people was to assign them squadrons with a separate Audio Channels for each. The problem with this is to co-ordinate the squadrons the Higher ups have to do a huge amount of "Channel Hopping" to co-ordinate with the other voice channels.

It would be a lot easier organisation wise If Discord had an option to Pass in the Audio from multiple channels into one Higher level audio channel with a custom Keybind for PTT to each Lower level of audio channel.

Essentially It allows Admins/Higher ups in the fleets to Hear what everyone is saying and handle multiple channels without having to "channel hop".

    Thanks."

Granted, there are already several VCs that do have this feature, the point is to keep everything within one app versus spreading everyone across multiple communication apps. While we don't know specifics for DU in how communication will work, we do know that Discord isn't exactly friendly when it comes to large crowds in Voice Chat channels.

If you can take the time to upvote that feature, we can bump it up on the priority list for the developers to get it going. It doesn't take any effort but signing in to your Discord account and clicking that upvote icon.

    Thanks,

  6. Like everyone else here recently, BOO is now a year old as of today.

We've made a lot of friends and enemies along the way while we have all waited for Dual Universe. It's been a wild ride for BOO coming from a very small group of shitposting pirates to spanning a huge community across multiple games. We've changed a lot as a community, and for the better I am certain. I love DUs community, and am excited to see whats in store for us in the near future as we get closer to the release stage.

    Cheers.

@everyone Alright Ladies and Gentlemen, the time has come. Myself and the staff have created another discord server known as the "BOO Jump Relay" We have decided that from now on, this is where we would like to locate the @Common Folk in order to make our discord member exclusive. This new discord will serve as a gateway to connect outside players and outside orgs to us. This new discord will essentially be the same as the other one, the only difference being that anyone can connect to it, not just @Boobians

There are several channels there, so you will still be able to apply, meme and talk about games there. @Common Folk, you have 1 week to transfer to this new discord before we will remove you from the current one. @Boobians you dont have to do anything if you dont want to, but you are welcome to join the new relay discord too So again, the common folk will have until the 16th of August at 19:00 GMT + 1 to move to this new discord. https://discord.gg/CYNYpT9 Many thanks, Anslem Vry.

    New Discord Link - https://discord.gg/CYNYpT9

Also, we are beginning the first phase of our member purging in preparation for Alpha/Beta. So bye bye trash accounts.

Sure, make it a thing that has to be bought and you have to sacrifice armor wattage / cpu to use. No Empyrion crap, no cheat-sheet peak-around-corners without costing people a dime. Call it ''Tactical Drone'' or something like that. Just no ''free'' drones,

    Cheerios.

Honestly, this. Empyrions drone was awesome, but it cost nothing and was a bit of cheat. So long as it has some cost in it for DU, I don't see why the same idea couldn't be applied here.

So again, my idea was never to include a list of every organization or space ship a player makes, that'd be assine.  My idea was that key aspects of player-created content, such as major organizations, deserve to have a page on the wiki because it's content players in general are interested in a neutral viewpoint of.

It doesn't make any sense to me to exclude things just be because they aren't created by NQ because the vast majority of the game won't be created by NQ.

A fair compromise as is mentioned above is to say only more abstract player creations like major cities, landmarks, and such would have pages on the wiki.  Explicit player creations such as organizations, ships, and players themselves can be linked back to the community page, where appropriate.

I still think that it is an appropriate location for a neutral description of major organizations, but agree it would not be simple to maintain.

I think this is a good compromise, think many in this thread are misunderstanding one another.

Now, if we were to include major orgs on the wiki, what criteria needs to be met to be included? I'm not for or against this, just want to raise some questions.

  10. 7 minutes ago, Kael said:

Why list orgs when we have the community portal which is going to be integrated into the game anyway? I mean there are 1500+ orgs, who decides which orgs make it into the list?

As a compromise i'd say big cities, places of interest, and general nice places to visit should be added to a separate section of the wiki so you can distinguish between the 2 easily. Even if you put a little history into the page about which org built/run/found the area then that's fine, it all adds to the player experience. And, as others have said, new players can find these places easily.

Also this would need some form of rules set to be able to add it to the list, like it's needs to be of a minimum size or a minimum number of player visits a day, I don't know just examples :)

If not then the list could be endless and very daunting for anyone let alone new players.

I can get behind this. There is already a place for Orgs and that is the Community Portal.

Would like to see major cities/infrastructure put on the Wiki potentially, but it will need to meet certain criteria, which can't exactly be defined until we get a playable game.
