    Hello everyone. This is the official announcement that The Void Republic and the Galactic Commonwealth have merged.
    Our ideoligies seem to be similiar and so we came up with the merger idea to increase our member number and have a better chance at competition.
    For now, this is still the trial phase. We will each keep our discords and individual organization registration.
    The new unified organization will be called the "Unity League" to honor the merger.
     
    Our goals will be mainly to create a competing power block against Cinderfall Syndicate & allies.
    Secondarily our goals will include having a strong military presence and large influence in the general universe as well as building a large structured infrastructure like jumpgates.
    Furthermore, individual player freedom and serving as middle ground for player gaming.
     
    We will take alliance offers from other empires that are interested and want to join up the fight against the Cinderfall block.

    I remember reading a comment by them that the devs were all using GTX 980's and GTX 970's. That an i5 would work, but an i7 wouldn't hurt.
     
    Alpha likely won't be fully optimized, but I hope they give us more detailed specs as it approaches.

    Ist das in deiner Signatur schon das fertige Symbol ?? Ich kenne genug Leute die dir ein schönes Thread Design, Banner, Symbol, Webdesign oder was auch immer machen können, also wenn du noch was ändern willst schreib mir einfach.

    so i don't like the idea of being able to have several characters in DU.
    it kinda breaks the game.
     
    for example when you are part of 1 empire and being able to make a second char joining the hostile empire.
    also, dual universe would be way more serious to the player if you had only 1 character.
     
    i dont like the idea.

    so one thing that really nags me about DU is, if there is so much freedom, why do you not make it so that players could create their own modules based on a smaller pre-set of items.
     
    im talking about being able to desing our own weapons & items too
     
    but what i am getting at is instead of pre-creating for players things like pre-made turrets and machinery, you could make it so a player can create his own modules in a designer but WITHIN that designer there would be pre-set utilities.
     
    so basically just moving the self-creation grid a level down.
     
    is there a specific reason?

    maybe you should add an extra section on the forums for clan recruitments.
    that would relieve the arkship pub section which should be for introducements only. not for recruiting purposes.

    Our aimed attributes are:
    Permanent advantage to other groups Freedom of the individual Strong presence within the universe Being well organized An elaborate infrastructure among our colonies (we plan to connect all our colonies with stargates) We are still small and aim for new members at the moment.
    We are of course aware there will be half a year timeframe between the first playable alpha and then another year until the open beta, but this gives us enaugh time to actually form a decend sized player base. So feel free to hit us up.
     
    As you can see i am a member of the alpha team so i will have some ingame experience and intel ready to coordinate our group better for when the game opens.
     
    If you are interested in joining, you can't miss us! We are wearing the empire's banner in our signatures.

     
    Our command structure:
     
    Our members will be devided into three branches, otherwise called "sections".
    Based on my loose knowledge about the game, these branches will be:
    LeaderBranch 1: Civil matters (This includes every freeroamer in our empire as well as colonizing new worlds and building our infrastructure - like power and food supplies) Branch 2: Military (Building military installations and ships, commanding our soldiers & troops) Branch 3: Resource harvesting (everything that has to do with gathering resources and keeping our empire steadily supplied) If there is something like a dedicated research branch in the game, there will be a fourth section, the resesearch and developement section.
    A player will be appointed section leader and all section leaders plus emperor then form the council That council will make the empire's government. Each branch leader will be in direct control over the players below him that are part of his branch and will be in command direcly below the emperor.
    A section leader will be free to take decisions for his section at his own discretion. Big empire wide related matters are however to be decided by the council.
    As example the section leader of the military branch can decide on his own to make military bases, build ships or send someone on military missions. But in order to declare war, a council meeting has to be called in to collectively decide whether we want to initiate a war against a group or not.
    If more than 50% vote for declaring war, then war will be initiated.
    If we get a 50/50 vote count, the leader decides what happens.
    Being a section leader requires alot of responsibility and thus i will hand-pick the section leader carefully based on his performance and accountability in the game as well as his experience with the game and maybe other games of that kind.
    The empire leader is the council chairman. Every council member has the right to suggest an action or a council meeting to the chairman. The council has the right to make decisions independently if the chairman is absent at a critical moment. As you can see the authority will be evenly spread out among the council. This prevents an abuse of power.
    It's a mix between monarchy and democracy.
     

    Why choosing this system?
     
    The monarchy part grants us a maximal control of our resources while the democracy part grants the players the freedom they desire.

    Today is an exciting day! We are proud to reveal the first images of Dual Universe, our futuristic MMORPG where players coexist in a single unbounded game universe (with no instances or loading zones), with the added ability to modify the game environment in ways never before seen on this scale and in such great detail.
     
    The images below are all the first publicly available screenshots of the Dual Universe, all images were captured "in game" and represent the game engine and gameplay features in its current pre-alpha state. To put this into context, all the constructions can be built in game by players, all the terrains can be mined and terraformed by the players and all the distant planetary systems can be reached.
     
    It all starts on a planet called Alioth, where, as the story goes, you step out of the arkship ready to embark on your adventure and rebuild civilization.
     
          
     
     
    As you can see, there are several environments on the planet, like dense forest and arid desert. If you look to the sky you will see neighboring planets with their own unique biospheres awaiting to be explored. While we update the game, we will also add more and more diversity to the many different planet types, so explorers can be sure to encounter a rich and varied world full of surprises (we won?t say any more, because, you know, they are surprises!).
     
    Dual Universe is, among many other things, a game where players can get creative and build things. Here is a typical situation where a group of players are collaborating and working together on the construction of an outpost.
     

     
    As player?s ambitions grow and the materials required become more obtainable, cities and building will be built. The images below shows how the end result may look.
     
     
        
     
     
    Then come the creation of ships and space stations! For example, you can build small personal spacecrafts...
     
      
     
     
    ...in which case you get a Cockpit UI when you enter one of these.
     
      
     
     
    But you can also build far bigger, multiplayer ships...
     
      
     
     
    ...to the point where you can build really huge behemoths! This is something that has never been done in any builder game that we know of, especially not in a continuous single-shard MMO.  When we say ?behemoth?, we mean a space station that is 1.5km long, entirely made with voxels, as in the images below.
     

     
    Perhaps even more importantly than size, which of course matters, is the fact that multiplayer ships and orbital stations are inhabitable: you can walk in it, meet some friends in it, discuss, play and coordinate your actions with them.
     
    You can see below a screenshot showing an interior command room of a space station.
     

     
    Then, there is space. The big vast blackness of space interrupted by the enigmatic flickers of light from distant stars, each one representing a possible new world to explore and conquer. This exploration will most likely arrive in a later stage in the game, when players will have mastered the technologies for warp drives and even later, stargates. But we give you a taste of it, because we find it awe-inspiringly beautiful.
     

     
    That?s it for now! We hope you like what you see. Again, remember that everything you see here is in-game, all constructions can be built and edited by players. Add the fact that everything takes place in the same continuous universe and we believe that we have a game that is really new and exciting. But the only thing that matters for us now is what you think! So feel free to give us feedback and suggestions. We won?t be able to integrate all ideas in the short time that separates us from the alpha, but we will keep in mind and care about everything you say.

    all looks very good for an alpha.
     
    the game has very potential. But planets are too near each others. MAybe it is not the same somewhere else. Also planets need a big fat athmosphere but it is alpha. And for an alpha it looks already excellent.
     
    There are so much things we can do alone or together, join corporations for helping to build buildings or even cities, etc.

    So i thought i would open a thread opening the gates for new members. as of right now we are 2 people. we have not yet decided on a name but plan to once we have more members. we will craft a flag based on the name once we have it. we would vote for it with our new members. if you are interested in joining our soon-to-be empire, shoot me a message. we aim to colonize a planet and build fortresses and other installations on it. we aim to become the biggest or one of the biggest empires in the game. hop on board if you want to participate in our quest to colonizing and conquering the stars.
     
    all names of the empire's locations are up for discussion and will be voted on. but our homeworld will be called Titania
     
    I am part of the first wave alpha teamers so i will get a bit of experience and a head-start from others.

    right after that you should put "United Nations" with an s.

    What about those who like to produce and trade, but have no interest in PvP?

    We are perfectly aware that players designing new ships and/or a new buildings don?t want to beshot by another player in the middle of their work.

    But shall we be able to build, design and produce outside this secure area?
    should be "but WILL we be able"
     
    What about players having a bad behavior?
    would sound better if you wrote "what about rogue players?"
    and also "non-Sandbox games.To preserve" is missing a space and sandbox should be small because you cant write big letters if you connect it with a dash.
     
    Will you punish scams?
    "as much as space pirate's existence,"
    "(so only in game currency)" would be better as "which means only in-game currency"
    "In other words, this will be up to the player" would be better as "IT will be up to the player"
    "(we are also going to build an in-game reputation system)." replace the "an" with "a"

    What do you plan to do about "Trash talk"?

    Okay, but there are also players wanting to help the game without having the money to support it. What about them?

    and another one, how do you plan to get enaugh players to have enaugh to colonize worlds?
    i mean if you are only 4 guys you only need 4 buildings on the planet you own. and i dont think there will be enaugh players that each empire has more than 1000 players, giving colonization actually a point.
    also how will your servers handle all these players?
     
    and where will the servers be located at?
    if they are in europe, players from the US will have high latencies.
     
    my friend has a question too.
    will we be able to create self-constructing and self replicating machines?

    How do you intend to go about the colonization process in DU? how can there be enaugh players to increase your empire in size and have all the worlds inhabitated by players?
     
    if an empire has 100 players, it can merely fill out the capitol of the empire on the homeworld. all other "cities" would be ghost towns. are you planning to include NPCs?
     
    also how will the server structure work?
    will all servers be located in europe? if so that would be a lag issue for american players.
     
    and also: unrelated but still important;
    if you can program machines via LUA, can you create self-replicating machines and build-bots?

    the beginning was the same like yours, i googled space MMO and found a compilation which included this one. then i checked this website out and found it to be appealing due to the fact that it has a voxel based build engine and beautiful graphics both at once. then i read they aim for maximum player freedom, and i thought this must be the game i waited for. then i read it will be oculus compatible and that sealed the deal for me.
     
    i am a former player of SoH so thats why i like the aspects of this game.

    sh... looks awesome!
    however i want to add that alien worlds have alien fauna aswell. maybe novaquark should add whole new fauna to their procedually-generator to make it a bit more realistic of you get my drift haha
