Good job you guys! You've come a long way since the early days of sketches and proposals!
Best luck!

Head down to Novark Agora. I also once asked this Question under the topic Meeting the Aliens.
Long and short is that NQ said no Aliens and a small chance of animals.

How would you suggest ownership be established? Territorial Units?
And would first contact count for anything, especially among exploratory orgs?
Moreover, would holding a system grant increasing advantages over time like EVE's Sovereignty system on starbases?
It would most likely make it's way to the more prized or reviled features of the game if it's done well or not, so...

ALL PRE-ALPHAS.
What is the view like for you guys? Any flora or fauna?
Red Grass, Blue bark or the plain old weeds.[Not that kind of weed!]

Well, think about this. It only took our civilization 12000 years to get to where we are, and wont take much longer to get into space. Meanwhile, universe has been around for 13 billion years about. So if there are aliens, either they are super primative (stone age) or they are way beyond our level of tech.
That's why there's the option of primitive. And who's to say one didn't evolve 13000 years ago if we could?

Some sort of necro thread. It's been said quote-unquote: "This is the story of humanity in the stars" aka "The Civilization Building MMO".
Also I don't think I've actually come across a convincing description of intelligent alien life yet. We're just not up to it yet in our imagination... so let's stick with humanity which still has a lot of work to do on it alone before moving along further! For sure various alien fauna and flora why not? THAT can tell us something about our own originating planet first of all.
If I understand you correctly you don't mind alien daisies and dogs, but no intelligent life right?
But could elaborate on what you mean by "THAT can tell us something about our own originating planet first of all."?

Really though you should have just read the forums. But on a lighter note I'd prefer traces of an extinct or ancient race. Like ruins
My apologies, I was quite new at the time.

Thank you for settling the issue @Zamarus

In a sandbox like DU, players are responsible for depth of gameplay - if they spread out fast then there won't be much interaction. But there are failsafes to prevent such a thing already planned and implemented in DU
To reason with your words: you don't need NPCs to be part of your empire/ark - YOU need them because you can't run an empire yourself / don't know how to do it / can't figure it out yourself / don't want to do that / are used to some generic theme park MMO where everything is just handed to you without the need for work.
Quite true Lethys, I was ( at the time of writing this ) honestly hoping for a PVE to fight to test the combat system without looking for a willing partner .
Let's hope that NQ would implement a system for training in alpha

Also if blueprints have expiry dates in the way you suggest, it could get ugly with ships and battle stations needing to be constantly renewed so to say.i hope blueprints have expiry dates dates on them as a means of a type of rent control for example say you have a heavily secure area with loads of storage plots and you rent them out to other players as a safe storage area and once the blueprint expiry runs out a player has to buy another blueprint for that same plot to keep using it. lol we could have storage wars on dual universe.

You should get an answer in FAQ

Perhaps, but I do know that blueprints can be stolen.
If that occurs then you may be forced to have a real estate sort of business going on.

At ease only a few people will code and create 'templates' others will just buyWe must not forget that the game is not a reserved for programmers.
Using scripts should not penalize other players who do not have such knowledge.

Umm I think you should keep this in the Arkship pub and greetings I hope to see you later on

No but I personally believe that organizations that have less than a specific number of members should be told to have a small number of posts at least because if you censor them by members well, what's big today could be small tomorrow.
Just ask the older players about COPS
-
Why? There's no need for that, each community/organization will call themselves and others as they please.
As falstaf said we might need an outside name or a general name instead of simply 'players'
