The game did not die because of players. The game died because NQ sucked the life out of the game alienating players at every step, to the point that not even the hard core fans would stay around any longer.

    Agreed 100%.

another “1st alpha” backer here where most of our time initially consisted of waiting for the servers to open up.

I remember at one of the first Alpha resets where inventory was introduced, spawning on the arcship, literally hundreds and hundreds of nondescript (no colors yet) players constantly pouring out and flowing across the bridges like somewhat low frame rate water.

there was a sense of eagerness and we honestly felt like pioneers on a search for a grand vista to place down our first cores. I remember bumping into a then promenent backer called Yamamushi and we chatted about how groundbreaking the game was and how it was basically a cross between Eve and Minecraft and how huge it was going to be… and with the sun shining down from bright blue sky and the snowy mountain peaks glistening in the distance, and seemingly endless players flowing past us over the bridge and away from the Arcship in every direction, we could believe it, too.

Cut to the final release, and the fifth reset for me and the feeling of pioneer is just a distant long forgotten memory, like a dream of a dream…

every release has been a diluted, lesser version of the one before to the point where this time, the “release” came and I couldn’t even be bothered to place my STU.

For many, STUs themselves arrived far too late to make them relevant either ingame itself or as a valid player number counter.

the old guard are generally tired, disaffected or outright bored.

NovaX was on MP2 on Alioth for the first Alpha release, then for the Balpha (alpha masquerading as a beta) we were part of the MP3 development on Madis, along with MTI which was, AFAIK, the biggest Madis development that spread 15km end to end and consisted of perhaps 500 L cores by the time the suspicion of an incoming wipe knocked the wind from our collective sails.

Madis was never a busy place, even MP3 but you’d always see a yellow marker or two at any time of day or night. People visiting via surrogate pods or dropping in at the market to buy something.

numerically, there were I think six first wave backers in NovaX.  Of those two of us remain, but by the Beta we had grown to pushing 60 players (not alts) of which 20 or 30 might have been on at any one time.

now there are four of us and I am usually on by myself, much like the last half of the Beta.

damn, I’m getting the feels now…

SCIFI / Science fiction is not about Science or physics as we know it. Trying to follow Science or physics creates simulator, not a game.

If people are staying in the safesones it is because they are not interested in PVP. And trying to force them to participate in PvP (or any other type of game play their are not interested in) will only make them leave the game. And they have, in droves..

Imagine for example how many PvP'ers would leave this game, if they where forced to build land structures and maintain a certain amount of tiles before they could PvP.

So the only way to make more people want to PvP is for NQ to make PvP a more fun and interesting experience.
But it cannot be at the expense of people who do not want to PvP, and it cannot be forced by removing safezones.

    I agree.
Current return efficiency in recycling does not fit into lore, nor real world.
There is no point for recycling. It may help little when elements are damaged.

I was hoping to see good return, so that players want to choose to recycle non damaged elements too.
On other hand this implementation feel just sort of  quick tool for fixing or looting damaged ship.

I still wait for recycling, instead of this cheap placeholder.
    - Using recycling indy element and by reversing the recipe of a recycled element, part, alloy, voxel, etc.

I was hoping on getting a percentage of the Ore cost back (25% or so).

Getting a random product back is a really terrible refund. After re-setting up my industry I always struggle to get the'old factory' products back into the productionline of my new factory.
Now I am getting random products back and it is becomming a day job to put them back into my production lines LOL. I rather delete them then then have another tedious job to do.

    The recycling could have been:
    - Industry recycler with input and output container
    - Start recycling, takes some time ....
    - Output is random ore (one or more ores that was required in the original production process) and then a percentage of the original value.
    - Create talents on the industry time and output generated.
Then you can also start trading and selling broken elements as well to people who are talented recyclers :).
For scavangers this is a nice reward as well.

Not only the miscalculation by NQ, but some of the toxic members of the community saying content creators such as builders/scripters only want to play 5% of the game and their struggles are completely irrelevant. People fail to appreciate the time it takes to build professional level constructs, or script optimized and functional features.

Not to mention the failure by NQ to provide the tools these creators requested in order to create in game activities, player driven content etc.
Then the community rags on these players as "filthy casuals" make them feel unwelcome, they leave, and then community complains about lack of content in the game.

I mean at this point it is so bad it is nearly comical. When both developers and the community poo poo on skilled players that dedicated time creating things for players to enjoy, why would they want to stay, especially in a game where one of major focuses is player made content, and they are told you don't matter and you won't be missed when you leave.

kulkija got a reaction from Jinxed in NQ, are you removing shopping bots from T1?
You know and I know that bots are really not only income source.

    Maybe because:
Heavy taxes, high costs fuel electricity, energy to heating homes and such are real life big problems. We do not want them into game we play.
I want to feel that at least a short moment in my life I do not have money problems. So I love easy income provided by bots. I really do. I was just wondering is there other reasons?

It is absurd that release is scheduled and we don't have this mechanic in game, so that we can go to release with ship designs that work. People have tried to build ships that they thought were going to conform to the occlusion rules for brakes, once implemented, and then the orientation was changed. Now we still don't have the final version to test against.

If the UEF ships will be fixed in time, why can we not get the fix in beta, to confirm that it actually works with all of the beta resources?

Yes sadly true. But we must keep pressure on NQ not to forget promises.
Breaking Kick starter promises makes harm to whole industry, because Kick starter is important source for early funding. Breaking Kick starter promises takes credibility away from KS projects

Here is how Player markets were described in Kick starter. For me this was one of most important promises to make decision to become Kick starter Backer.

They even sent this by email to us. Player markets were in Road map for end of 2020. Then they were mowed to post launch.

Is @NQ-Admin going to do something with these comments?

The new schematics system is in the long run far more timeconsuming and farfar more costly then what we had, moreover is the actual time you need to put them in machines far greater then previous.

How is this better for players?
