Hylios got a reaction from Edwardaless in DevBlog: Builder gameplay, Voxel Tools & Elements
It's going to be so much fun build with these! I recently got back into minecraft for that builder and made a beautiful hobbit hole. But, as said above, there was something missing.

From what I know, there are already plans for an FTL mechanic to allow us to jump between systems, as well as a warp gate mechanic where we have to build a structure at each destination for it to work.
So the issue here is how things will be handled at sub-light speeds. I like Klatu's idea of using an equation for a stellar speed limit with mass holding a direct relationship to the max speed and acceleration.
To that end, it is possible to attach a massive engine and MAC cannon to form something of a gunboat, a low resource weapon. Or use several massive engines to attempt to propel a massive capital ship.

Hylios got a reaction from Ghoster in DevBlog: Monetization, player happiness and economic viability
What's funny is that this seems to be the idea that most of us agreed with back when we all discussed this. Another thing is that it'll keep the player base more mature in terms of age (I don't know if that was stated anywhere above.) So that's always nice.

Hylios got a reaction from Azrael in Macroscopic Events
When I say macroscopic events, I mean things that take place across the universe. Big events that impact the overall direction that the universe evolves.
I know that players will eventually form their own factions and duke things out, influencing borders and such, but what if something comes from outside the galaxy? Some sort of alien menace that forces enemies to work together to repel, lest inhabited planets get destroyed.
Basically, an event that players have to participate in to get a certain outcome. The best example I can think of is probably a poor one, but one arc from the second season of the anime Sword Art Online. In said arc, Ice Giants being attempting to take over the land of Alfheim (if I remember right) and if they succeed, the entire world would be all cold and icy. Fortunately, the protagonists stopped it.

Hylios got a reaction from Kiklix in Piloting
How will piloting function as the scale of ships get larger? Say I want to build a Battlestar or Macross, and have some consoles set up in
command bridge to maneuver the ship. Will my pilot(s) have to do that by sight? Or will there be some sort of display on the console for the
pilot(s) to use?

Hylios got a reaction from Kiklix in Emotes: Sitting on chairs, leaning against a wall & more
It'd be cool to have some emotes pertaining with shipboard stuff. The /datapad emote is one such thing in my mind, but we could also have things like /weld or /console to have characters act as if they're doing on the ship.
Just my two cents.

Hylios got a reaction from KlatuSatori in Piloting
To be perfectly honest, I think the bridge of any ship should be located in the center of the ship, or at least nestled within some considerable armor. Observation decks are find, but I would apply liberal usage of bulkheads between them and the rest of the ship. I'm one for utility, rather than aesthetics.

It's funny how such a basic question has such a huge impact. The ability to sit will impact a lot of things, from in-game leisure to full on formal meetings.
Hopefully we will be able to sit. After all, it'd be nice to have a meeting where we can all sit around a table!

Hylios reacted to Shadow in Few questions on ship and ground mecheanics.
Hello there,
For a time, I disagree with you Nyzaltar as there is already a powerful weapon you can use in this case: kinetic projectiles (also known as "ships", or "rockets") .
Just throw a bunch of them on your target and it will most probably not like the collision.
Regards,
Ryanis

Hylios reacted to Cybrex in Quick Question?
Because my opinion doesn't agree with yours regarding vanity items, it invalidates it? There's a reason they're calling opinions. Differing perspectives. Don't harp to people declaring your opinion as just that, an opinion, and then dismiss someone else's differing perspective as simply "invalidating" yours because they don't agree.
I understand where you're coming from on the cash shop, don't get me wrong, but having everything on a cash shop free to those who subscribe, invalidate it's purpose entirely. Why? Because in order to even access the game, you have to be a paying subscriber. This restricts cash shop usage to only those who are subscribed, which pretty much would make the cash shop moot if all of it was free... to paying subscribers.
Not trying to be a dick here, and I apologize if it seems that way.

I'd love to flaunt some of the things I come up with! I love drawing up my ideas, it's like baring a fragment my consciousness and soul on the paper.

I'd be in favor of an art museum thread for anyone who wants to add their own designs for anything from buildings to ships to clothes.

That comment made me realize that we miss a thread where we post scetches and models of ships we may have already created or plan to do
So if anyone got some, show us. I'll probably try to digitalize my ideas too and post them here in near future

So would I. It's a Sci fi based game so I'd expect all varieties of many different styles.
Its not about impeding anyone. I think my point was lost, but if someone builds something alien to a Sci fi setting. Like a giant nose (or something ruder).....would it be removed?
I can tell by your response you understand my point. Looking at some interior concept pictures DU does seem to have its own style. And I vaguely remember Nyzaltar in a different thread referring to keeping to a DU style on a different topic. I'd have to hunt through the threads to find it.
I know it's a building game but with Sci fi aspects. So if I build a Disney castle I doubt it would fit with the general atmosphere.
But yes I'm looking forward to exploring my own style of building in this game, and seeing creations of others, especially from Sci fi builders of another building game in development. It's really quite exciting.

Well said.
I'd love to go from sector to sector, being exposed to different player "styles". One place your in a steampunk area, the next a cyberpunk Bladerunner style. No need to limit player creativity because the developers have their own vision of what should and shouldn't be. If they did that, it would sort of go against everything they have been saying to this day.

Hylios got a reaction from Cybrex in DevBlog: Builder gameplay, Voxel Tools & Elements
I see what you're saying. But DU doesn't really have a "style" from what I've seen. The only example of a ship from Earth is the Arkship. To that end, we'll all end up using
our own styles, and all emerging governments and corporations may have a style. Think of it like any 4X sci-fi game as if every race were seeded from one a long time ago
and evolved into something else entirely.
