FryingDoom reacted to psyKodad in UPDATE 1.2 ARRIVES ON DECEMBER 13TH - TACTICAL MAP, REVAMPED ASTEROIDS AND MORE
Well, experienced that..from the other side. And you're right.. it's easy enough to 'dodge a gank' by just tapping or stay max 30 mins..and that's the exact reason why this gameplay was bad. There was no risk..you exactly knew whats coming.
What we will get now is real risk vs reward..where you might risk to stay longer..with the increasing risk of encounter a random patrol.

But i understand why you're pissed...you're used to a broken game mechanic that allowed pvpers to gank and controll 99% of pvp space resources from a gui list, and i assume you liked that a lot.
It can hurt getting something taken away..get over it and see it as what it is, a fix to improve the game..even if it comes very late

Because a crosshair on your ass as soon as you touch an asteroid is nowhere close to 'risk vs reward'.
That mechanic was purely designed to cater gankers with quick nobrainer prey..and it's good and healthy for the game that this crap will be gone soon.

Wan't to gank or controll all pvp space resources?..work for it..

That might be it, I have a feeling that for some stupid reason they are going to try and push PvP despite PvP being liked less than PvE as shown by WoW, Elite Dangerous, etc..

Which is why we are better off pushing for real customer service. We are paying customers and NQ hardly has the money to offend customers.

This post right here is a perfect example of why this is a bad idea.  You basically just said that anyone who disagrees with YOU doesn't have the game's best interest in mind.  That's just dishonest and manipulative.

If you couldn't even pretend to be impartial for 5mins why would anyone want to trust you with insider info, or a more direct line to NQ?

This is an awful idea for a million reasons.

Except I have not given up on this game at all, I have played it every day since its launch, just because people are not telling you what you want to hear does not mean that you are somehow a knight on a noble quest and everyone else is wrong.

However I would quit the second this game started a CSM. It was a horrible idea then and its a horrible idea now.

The chief game designer to post barely 10 messages on this discord.

Even if I fundamentally have trouble with this person and his way of doing things (I have a lot of criticism to make to him).

His message (focused on the CCS and other) was interesting and a good exchange ensued.

We're just waiting for that kind of interaction.

No need for an ATV crew or other bullshit.

Just a game designer who throws a few blocks from time to time on the mechanics he has in mind.

That the community can at least react and adapt to what HIM wants.

Dual Universe is a one man game (in NQ studio, I won't quote it). Not the community game.

Our demands must adapt to his vision of it.

Except that we have very little exchange to propose really constructive things.

Well, I like the message and I like the intent. But like others I fear on the intentions. But since we never see any NQ presence on the forums who knows if they will ever read this post anyway.

What scares me is that you talk in your message of the problem with PVP while there are certainly many problems with it as their are with every single aspect of the game… as for now PVP is such a marginal part of the game there are tons of issues more prominent that must be addressed very quickly if we don’t want this game to die.

The biggest bulk of active players in such a game will always be builders, industrialists and farmers. But as for now the economy of the game is complete [filtered]ed up and unsustainable. With bots running out of ressources to buy people buy ore at rates that are not even worth farming them. Owning tiles makes no sense as with the rate on some ores it would cost you more to pay for the tile weekly that what you could make with it. Too many things feel like chores in this game, everything takes way too long, you pass way too much time looking at your screen waiting for something to get crafted or for schematics to finish. They need to work on making this game more fun before everything else.

If you want fun pvp and massive one what they should do is add some form of challenges you can do in multiplayer with ships with the VR. That’s instant fun, maybe with a leaderboard and potential to make money if you end up in the wining team.

To make any type of weapon you need tier 3 and ammo tier 2. To buy one of pvp ships you need to farm in an insanely annoying way by harvesting your tile for a week. Unless you know the game by heart and started playing since early beta and know what to do, chances are that if you are interested in trying out pvp you’ll stop playing the game out of boredom before experiencing it. And if you stick to it cause your masochist you’ll cry when you realize there is no fun dog fight in this game. Just click to identify and then click to shoot. That’s so exciting at all.

We need more PVE before anything, alien space ships we can fight that travel in space some NPC spaceship with cargo to blow up. Space is huge you spend sometimes days to find anyone to attack having some chances to find at least a PVE one would make it more worth your time.

Asteroids are way too few even out of the safe zone they should multiply them by 10 at the very least. People were already extremely scared of loosing their ship before but now everything takes so much more time and so much more complicated to make that people will so rarely take the risk of going out with some ship of value that you’ll never ever have fun pvp unless it’s organized between big organizations.

Pretty much everything is to be reworked in this game. But the economy must be fixed at fist and super quickly or by next months game will be as dead as beta.

FryingDoom reacted to Dakanmer in Extra Large elements needed
The point is to stop this sort of thing from being necessary, NOT to make fighter jet/hauler hybrids.

It's nothing but a shell made out of 128 L space brakes, 144 atmo brakes, 176 L adjustors, 16 XL basic space engines, 34 L basic atmo engines, 20 L basic vertical boosters, , 12 L stabilizers (because there aren't any L wings or ailerons), 18 M wings, 10 L space tanks, 8 L atmo tanks, 24 L containers, and a few other things. It's a heavy hauler that needs far too much crap to haul, and even without any cargo turns really slowly. The voxels are mostly just a wire frame to mark where elements go for symmetry, with a very small amount for "looking cool." Tiered engines and the like are too expensive in time/resources (worse because of the schematics) at this point, especially since T2+ deposits have become more rare than in beta (a guy scanned a large number of contiguous tiles and found none at all. On Thades), and getting asteroids is a pretty big competition, so we have to work with what we can.

This is why bigger elements are necessary. Tiered brakes/adjustors/airfoils would be nice, but those are more "tweaks" to the basics than realistic replacements for larger sizes. And yes, sadly, NQ will probably just continue to limit everything. From day 1, creativity in anything but voxel work has been stifled by NQ constantly saying "that doesn't fit the direction we want to go" even as they advertise the whole game as "player-driven" etc. That whole approach to development is ridiculous, and it's seriously making me think I wasted the money I spent on 13 months worth of subscriptions.

Like every good idea, people being in the equation ruins it, People are by nature giant pieces of garbage that would sell their grandmother for a few bucks if it got them ahead. Gamers are even worse. While a good idea at heart, I'm going to have to go with no.

FryingDoom reacted to GraXXoR in NQ, are you removing shopping bots from T1?
Which is clearly a nonsense and broken system. That an org only needs a single tile with 1L of each of the four T1 ores to survive is clearly not what the developers intended. Sure they don’t count it as an exploit (calibration charges Yada Yada) but it is pretty much game breaking.

    TLDR:
That 10 players can somehow get 200kL of ore per day from a 1L per hour tile even using a single size S mining unit is a stupid game mechanic.

    Dear Noveans,

With the launch behind us, it’s time we give you better insight into our direction of development for Dual Universe.

Before the release, our Creative Director gave an overview of many upcoming game features, and we want to expand on his letter by giving you a more precise look at what we’re working on specifically in our upcoming updates.

We are currently continuing to focus our work on the initial stabilization and resolution of issues following the launch, and we are also working on update 1.1 which we are aiming to release in December.

    What’s Coming in Update 1.1?

    Kickstarter Rewards: Part Two

We still have a lot of development planned in the longer term which you can read more about in the letter from our Creative Director, and we hope that we’ve given you a clearer picture of our immediate direction for Dual Universe. We will update you should this planning change significantly, and look forward to hearing your thoughts and feedback in this forum thread.

It’s been an incredible month since launching Dual Universe. We’ve worked hard to address issues, and though we always want to do better, we hope you’ve enjoyed the game so far. All across Helios, wonders are already taking shape as you bring the game to life. We can’t wait to see what you’ll build in the coming months and years. From all of us here at Novaquark, thank you for being a part of our game.

Promises bind only thoses who believe on them.
Since the kickstarter the game has evolved. NQ has encounter many pb which are not compatible with promises and a viable game technically and financially.
Stop crying about they irrealistic promises. I know it's hard but this is how works kickstarter. Some things works. Others don't works.
If you are angry, make a call to JC and ask him why he did these promises without to know if it possible or not (technically and financially).

Schematics are good to limit megafactories. If you don't like them don't make an industry. and go buy to others players what you need. Many industrialists don't have any problems with the new schematics mecanic.
