I would imagine that having mechanisms for generating quanta that players can stomach in the long run, is crucial to the overall economy?

Rats. The only "easy and tested method" is having pve rats.

Weaker/less valuable rats closer in the Alioth bubble. The further away the difficult, and more valuable, rats will be located. Whomever gets the most damage on the rat gets to loot the container(s); anyone can salvage the parts.

  2. So now any hopes have scavenging (more like purchasing and crossing fingers) is pretty much gone? I was hoping to claim my neighbors two tiles so I could expand, as they haven't play since February or so, but now those tiles are most likely going to be HQ'd; so I can no longer claim them.

    Fantastic work again, NQ.

Spoon fed beta? Missions were introduced not that long ago, they are the best way to get ahead and they still exist now. Oh no megas are gone, but everyone has to mine and sell to maintain so if you mission you can get ahead more than ever now.

EVE Online had lots of totally imbalanced ways to make money in the early years, it survived just fine.

You sound really sour and clueless.

I need to stop reading miserable doom posts. Bye forums

EVE also had fun gameplay and social aspects, good or bad. DU just doesn't have well, anything.

  4. Nice work breaking it down. I appreciate the clear insight you've given and hopefully other people are able to replicate your success.

Even though I have an alt with almost max mining skills, so far I haven't broken even with my singular mining tile with 7 units. I don't have the capacity to baby 7 tiles like you've done, so I'll just have to do something else for quanta.

There are ways even though it might be slow and tedious. The 150k per day and mining and selling the rocks you do have to buy mining units. I'm kinda tempted to use my remaining beta invite to see what it is like as a brand new player.

You'd run out of surface rocks before you would even get enough for a ship to take the rocks to a market to sell.

SM rarely has good buy prices, so they will get even less. Fun game!

I think NQ needs to spend a week where the whole team starts the game as new players and stream it so we can see their reactions to how bad their own game is since they obviously dont really play it or if they do they started when it was a lot easier than it is now and need a reality check.

They would never do such a thing. I'm pretty sure the devs don't actually enjoy the game anymore. They just implement what the business managers want and do their best. I hope, at least.

So what bug have you seen? I'm curious since this does not surprise me about NQ at all.

Does picking up and replacing the MU fix anything? I'm sure you have tried a few things?

So glad im not playing. :)

For me, my tiles will only allow 1 MU to be running at a time. Even though I own the tile, construct, and MU; it still says the "Owner is not allowing mining" or something along those lines.

Its true that moons are currently useless.

Maybe they could be integrated into the mission system.

    So for example.

Mission:   Scientists would like you to setup a mining camp on Ion Moon 2 and mine 10KL of Malachite (a prepaid Territory unit is supplied).  Once this is achieved our science team will take over the camp.  Payment is 18 million quanta.

This would be gameplay, NQ doesn't like those ideas.

    Stop talking sense.

I just can't wait until the scavenging becomes... looting only the valuables, and leaving all the ugly butt structures abandoned littering Alioth. Going to look like a Minecraft server where someone left floating trees in the starting area for 50+ Km.

Right? If I do manage to claim a tile and the former-owner is absent for 2 weeks: I'm only taking the items and then unclaiming.

If NQ thinks everyone is just going to wipe clean the tile, then they're in for a surprise.

This clearly says that my headquarters territory will need 1m quanta or i have something to prepare...

Sorry, I wrapped your two questions in one answer.

Yes, you have to pay taxes on ALL tiles you own (besides Sanctuary at the moment...).

Headquarters tile DO NOT become abandoned if you do not pay, only "inactive" for MU and industry.

I think if a wipe will be planed at release paying customers will receive the Months back + Some Bonus. I am speculating but thats pretty much the basic solution.

They will absolutely in no way every give you back IRL money if they were to wipe the servers. They probably don't have enough cash to do so.

Also: I think they will 100% wipe at this point. An empty solar system looks better than a dead one. I think. No idea actually, but this game is on life support.

Quick question. If i set a territory as "headquarters", do I need need to pay taxes on it to make it not become abandoned after 4 weeks?

My interpretation of the announcement topic says yes.

Buy i have heard ppl say "no" on discord/forum/ingame chat

It won't become abandoned as explained in the few devblog postings. However, you won't be able to use MU or industry.

  13. So when a tile becomes "abandoned" because they owner has a life and doesn't want to constantly pay un-needed land taxes for a space game: they still have 2 weeks to take all their crap back even though someone else claimed the tile?

So I claim an abandoned tile, pay the 500k, then pay 1mil for the next week taxes, and the midnight before the second week is here: they come and take all their stuff.

How in the world is that fair or fun or even logical? I claim the tile, I own what is on it. Have the devs or "project managers" never played a game before?

  14. When exactly is D-Day (Demolition day for non-paid for tiles)?

Today is 11/27 (11/28 I think for the server). So 10 more days according to my wallet would put us at 12/07 (or 12/08) and then there is the 2 week grace period until abandonment, which puts us at 12/21 or 12/22.

So when one of those days happens, how will this work? Any tiles that haven't been paid by then will just allow you to claim the territory unit? What if it's underground, how do we find it? Can we just enter build mode on constructs and take items?

Couldn't seem to find a dev blog that fully stated this for morons like myself.
