  1. That would be great. But technically that means you will have to load every piece of audio that is playing... If I start playing a song on my ship, and you come aboard with 20 friends, will the music be streamed from my client to every other client ? will the server handle the file and preload it for others to cache upon entering the ship ? this could take a while depending on the number of music and their size ! We could be speaking a huge amount of bandwith for the server as mp3s can be several MBs ! Also, "mp3" is a privately owned codec, NQ will have to pay a fee to implement an ingame player I believe. Also copyrights issues... I am not seeing NQ taking that many risks. On the other hand, some games have implemented open source/proprietary TTS (Text To Speech). I even have done this myself with software a while back, it could prove really easy. How are you going to call your ship's voice ?
  2. What are you talking about ? Are you expecting me to engage in forum jousting with you all day long, I could not see a more boring way to spend a day. On others topic I have made some points, you disagreed in a quite arrogant manner and VOILA. There is nothing else to it. If you can't stand for other ppl to have another opinion than yours, don't go in the internet sir ! Did I even talked to you there ? Did you know that I don't like to park my car too close to another one ? so, I am parking on the avenue to solve this personal problem, what could go wrong eh ? 404 Logic not found. Don't even bother to answer that, I am not even reading you anymore sorry. I am just going to type in fluo too ! seems like fun ! next step, a giant signature that I will change everyday to make the haters hating /s Anyway, back on topic: thanks for coming and proving me right about the need for moderators Meanwhile, I have just started to "ignore" some users i consider toxic to civil and courteous discussion.
  3. Sadly no https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/841-ask-us-anything-event/page-2#entry13856
  4. Taking over a whole planet will be challenging. Look at the number of TCU required ! let alone a whole system. This may take a very long time to be done, especially if you are contested along the way ! Very large organization working cooperatively will eventually succeed first, making them a bigger target for challengers and guerrilla warfare.
  5. I can see the potential for greatness so... I am here to support and contribute if possible !
  6. That would be nice to discover an arkship along your journey in space, and reparing it to prime condition would enable a new "safe" respawn point in the planet for everybody. (or you could salvage it? ) Maybe even open a new starting location made available for newcomers
  7. And it is fine, It will be a good challenge for the other player to team up and beat them. (granting this is technically possible)
  8. This is called highlighting but fine. If you are not proud of your question, you should just say it What about disagreement ? I was just trying to answer your question. This is how a forum is supposed to work unless I am mistaken ?
  9. Great then!. Would you be so kind to show me someone actually filming it or talking about it in official capacity ?
  10. Hummm, be mean all you want to, this won't make you right. I do am, in fact, a professional developer, but I can only guess how a physic engine is coded since this is not my area of expertise. From this perspective, knowing the general principle of gravity, forces, thrust and speed, it is quite easy to understand this will have WIDER effect to implement than just "make it spin". In fact, NQ don't even know themseves YET. They will need testing, and are foreseeing yet unseen problems, as told by Nyzaltar. And I know THAT very much. Anticipating the unseen. SO, I reached MY OWN opinion. I think this is best not wasting time implementing this feature considering the many risk and the little gain. I do know NQ will know better than me, this is not the point. If this is proving very much do-able they will consider doing it and voila, I won't be mad. Is it worth a pink disdainful facepalm coming from what I am starting to consider as an attention-seeking person (to stay polite) ? let me laugh.
  11. Planetside2 is an MMOFPS with a Public Test Server having a different code base than public servers EvE Online has a second server for testing SWG, back in the day, had a Public Test Server (with blue frogs giving you all the item you wanted for SCIEEEENCE) Star Citizen is doing unstable testing on a PTU too. Being an MMO is not a limitation at all. Of course this is what alpha is, but... come on, be pragmatical, look at what happend with StarCitizen... the need for a "public" and "testing" branch was a NECESSITY to prevent bad press and forums/video flame wars from thoses who don't know what "ALPHA" means. Educating most of them is hopeless you know...
  12. Don't you agree this would be such a complex thing that it could have many many unseen border effect on the game stability, balance and all ? all the while wasting DEV TIME better used on more basic core mechanics. And for what ? Or do you simply spit on every comment you don't want to agree with ?
  13. I believe this is quite obvious. It is a call for a permanent moderation team. And I agree with that, seeing some other general behavior and attitude. There is another thing with too large invasive signature, full color post, etc ... this is too much annoying. If I were NQ i would probably first hire a lead moderator. Then maybe pickup one or two "free" moderators from the community, selecting ppl very carefully.
  14. You might want to read this https://devblog.dualthegame.com/2015/07/24/territory-control/ For short, if you "own" the land, it wont be editable by someone else with the editing tool. Destroying your stuff will require more firepower coming from an actual weapon then.
  15. This is actually quite a good idea. By "research" you mean "skills" ?
  16. Here, you can read: So, crossing that with the teaser video between 0:05 and 0:07 You can see the player character is quite little. I have no doubt 30km would be enough for a starting planet.
  17. Answering your own concerns ? Many problems with Early Alpha: Buying to get access coz HYPE -> not here to "test" but to "play" -> 90% sure to be disappointed early Buying to give money to enable the project to reach its potential -> may or may not "test" and prefer to "play" -> 50% chances to be disappointed early. Buying to test and influence the direction of the game -> 10% chance to be disappointed of course, if Early Access is too long, it will slowly disappoint more and more as time goes. The only way (that I can see) to mitigate this, is to find a compromise by having a "stable", and a "test" branch Having the possibility to select which one to use, much like how steam do it.
  18. You will have to implement an inertial speed and vector, matching the rotation speed of the planet I believe. This is a useless complication from my point of view
  19. Is that even possible ? I am 99% certain it is not since the game has no netcode that I am aware of. NMS is only pushing whatever you are naming, be it a planet or a lifeform... no actual multiplayer in the sense of "oh I can see you" You will never see another player in front of you, even if he is theoretically standing in front of you from his point of view. Every player is in a solo instance with a common item/name database. Exactly like the "solo play" in Elite Dangerous. I am pretty sure the confusion suit them (sony and NMS dev) since a lot of ppl will buy out of mere HYPE and not even bother to check deeper. This is why I think this game is a total cashbait. This is why I think DU has potential to be greater than NMS in every single way beside the "tamagochi" part.
  20. Predefined blacklists are a common thing these days
  21. I have seen the 2h leaked footage and I must say I am disappointed by NMS. Comparing it to DU would be like to compare orange and apples. Here is what I hate in NMS: No multiplayer gameplay Punished by Police AI for harvesting/killing things on planet and in space. Cartoony visual experience with a lot of fog as a general rule for handling level of details. (LOD) Crappy space station design, with only one room and a trade terminal. The whole thing have quintillion planets and lifeforms, but without anything to do on it beside "point and click" to scan/harvest and repeat. You can "name" every lifeforms/planet you are the first to discover... but infact you are not the first to discover it since its crawling with "abandoned outpost" -> making true immersion an impossibility. Beside, no one will ever get to the same planet as you. and if this happen anyway, they will just leave and find another one to get naming rights for themselves. Space combat looked like point and click ONLY, no room for emergent gameplay, you only get the one ship you can "upgrade", and its stuck with you. Once you have it upgraded, you can head toward the center of the universe and enjoy the cinematic and you are done with the game. Nothing to "build". Price too high for a tamagochi simulator. Perfect for a true casual player on console. But not for me. On the other hand what I like on DU is what NMS is lacking: One unique multiplayer server allowing for MASSIVE multiplayer gameplay. You can build anything, anywhere, and it stays for everyone to see and use. Unlimited number of planet with territory control worth fighting for. Player driven economy Sandbox for emergent gameplay. I bet NQ will add the functionality to "name" a planet if you are the first to discover it, or if you own >90% of it. It would not be a great deal for them.
