All these posts about what people are doing in game... Most all of it sounds like work, chores, and grind. Anyone playing DU for fun or just out of the fear of loss if you did not play?

    Hello, Noveans!

We have good news: DACs are coming to Dual Universe! As many of you already know, DACs are an important feature of the game’s economy, allowing players to gain game time with quanta. We will initially be releasing a website-based DACs system in the coming months and will then be further developing the system moving forward.

    WHAT IS A DAC?

A Digital Access Coupon (DAC) is equivalent to a month of subscription. Think of it as a digital coupon that you can use to gain 30 days of subscription time or transfer to another player.

HOW CAN I REDEEM AND TRANSFER DACs?

Players will interact with this first iteration of DACs on our website. You’ll be able to see an overview of your DACs and be able to redeem as many as you’d like in exchange for game time. You’ll also be able to find other players by searching for their name and transfer DACs to them, but in order to receive DACs, a player must first have an account or create one on our website. There are no limits to the amount of DACs that may be transferred from one account to another.
You will also be able to view your DACs history, giving you an overview of previous transactions.

    HOW DO I GET DACs?

The initial set of DACs being released has already been purchased by our Kickstarter backers through the Founder and Supporter packages. You can however receive DACs from any player who has already purchased them, for example in exchange for quanta, allowing you to buy Dual Universe game time using your in-game assets, or to gift game time to friends.

Just as a reminder, we wish to reinforce that this is only the first iteration of DACs in Dual Universe. We’ll be adding to this system over time and will work on integrating DACs into the game as an item that can be traded directly from a market. As always, we welcome your thoughts and look forward to reading your feedback in this forum thread.

Again this loop gives PvP players hours of doing nothing in game for minutes of fun some of the time.

Just fix that all these PvP changes are great but they keep missing the point...

Hours of no fun to have minutes of fun is a super bad trade and not good for any game.

This feels like another wipe thread. Odd that NQ locks all other threads about wipes and ask we use the 40 page one until this new one NQ created emerged. I would rather see the 80 page thread over a two forty page ones but what do I know...

All I do know is all these reasons for a wipe assume exploits will never again occur, players will never join the game after release, and there will never be another change that will make us have to redo ships. If all of that is true wipe. If not wiping is just filling in a hole in the ground with one shovel while digging it deeper with another.

I'm against a wipe as no one has given a reason for why or how anything would be different than today 18 months post a wipe.

I will happily support a wipe if there was a reasonable why provided.

I agree completely that wiping Quanta, but not wiping sold blueprints would be incredibly unfair to anyone who has sold a Blueprints.

But at the same time, there's a decent chance that a lot of the people who have bought Blueprints may not be able to purchase that same Blueprint again.  Since there's no guarantee that the person who made the original will still be playing.

That means NQ is just deleting all of those constructs.  Poof.  Never to be seen again.

And the alternative, Magic Blueprints, would be even worse, leaving a HUGE loophole for anyone to bring over wealth into the new game, and punishing anyone who doesn't take the time to transfer all of their wealth into constructs before the wipe.

Which of those option sounds good to you?  Because they all sound pretty bad to me.

With the last Algorithm i rebuilt my speeder and repositioned almost every element.  i did extensive testing, and had no elements flagged at all.  Then i made a Blueprint and deployed a second version of it.  Did extensive testing with that one too, and had no elements flagged.

Then i compacted the speeder and went to Lacobus to recalibrate some MUs.  When i uncompacted it on Lacobus i got the warning message on the screen and had multiple elements flagged.  Compacted it again and went back to Alioth and it was all clear.

I also tried bringing the speeder to Lacobus docked to another ship, and same result, elements flagged on Lacobus and not flagged on Alioth.

So if you're testing the new Algorithm, don't assume that your ship is all clear just because it appears to be in build mode.

I tried to address the NQ post without any emotion or position. While I would rather not wipe I'm not completely against it. I'm really concerned the reasoning for a wipe is over looking the root causes that will come back post any amounts of wipe.

Fix the problems not erase each time they occur!

So any future features (AvA, TW, Power) that end up being unpopular will be handled how? The above suggest a wipe is the answer to that post release if unpopular features happens again.

There are many things we were told that never came as of now and most likely will hopefully come post release. How would any of these be different in impacting the in-game economy or allowing players to get extremely rich way faster than intended, due to an intensive use of some features in their early stage? This is again telling us a wipe is the answer and wipe will just occur again when new unpopular feature is introduced.

A wipe to achieve this helps how in 18 months from now?

In 18 months, what is being done to help new or returning players then?

Snappable preview based BP's solve this and we seen some of that on PTS.
We had a terrain wipe for this purpose. This seems like a item that will always have iterations and improvements. The above provides a impression that we either will not get more planet visual tech updates down the road or the answer to them will be wipes post release.

Hopefully we see more core-to-core data exchange abilities or an increase in emitter receiver ranges.

The mining unit LUA would benefit from this so we can see MU status from adjacent hexes from the center base you VR to in order to check MU status.

NQ can sort out the details of how but this approach that I have advocated for before seems to address most of the points of view on both sides of this matter. Make the gate take 180 days. This gives new player 6 months or more all by themselves.
