Please do NOT tell people how to play the game.
I've more or less the same strategy: solo play, absolutely prefer to be independent, spending most of my time (did at least pre-patch)  building up my base where aesthetics is a priority, crafting some space ships, and visiting other territories to view their creations.

Playing an MMO does not mean that you're required to group with others.
Everyone is free to play how he prefers to - we are talking about leisure time.

If you like playing solo - just do it, it doesn't hinder others in any way playing in a party mode if they want to.

Sorry to break it to you all, but DU is fundamentally made to be a building game more then it is a PvP game.
And the problem with building vs destroying is that when it takes 5 minutes to destroy months of work, builders leave the game.

Cytoxx reacted to MaxTheGrey in Planet Resource Deserts Are Not A Good Experience
I wonder what percentage of the planet tiles have either been scanned or had at least one node mined from them. This week I've scanned over 100 contiguous tiles on Jago in the middle of the oceans, as far from any markets or obvious settled bases (multiple tiles claimed) as I could. Barely any high end resources and I've mined through at least 6 mega node empty caverns (and those are the ones I've randomly encountered). I kept going further and further to see if I'd get into an untapped area and just fell into another mega node cavern.

The problem with this mining experience is not only is it RNG to get the high end resource you might need, but the odds of finding them continue to decrease with time. We are barely into the launch of the beta here and great swaths of the planets are scanned and cleared of the best resources. Yes, I'm sure there are "many" untapped tiles out there but the odds of finding one are continuing to decline. This is not a good experience and will only get worse over time.

Yes, new planets might help, leaving this system a resource desert. I really think some kind of ground healing, random resource respawn system is needed.

This is correct. The reason for the delay is that it's currently a bit hard to keep up - some people don't seem to have read the forum rules and working through reports takes its time.
The forum rules can be found here:

    Excerpt
This is the most relevant forum rule and reason why that thread was hidden. @Cytoxx please remove the link and title-quote from your original message - thanks! The only two things to do with exploits are 1. report them to NQ and 2. avoid using them.

I'd like point out this recent announcement by @NQ-Naerais

A bug or exploit does not need to be listed there in order to be prosecuted if used, so I'd strongly advise to always report at support.dualthegame.com if there is any doubt. I'm not familiar with the development schedule, but I'd think that every issue gets tracked, assigned a priority and will be taken care of as soon as possible. If the support is delayed or the issue doesn't get fixed within a day, a week or even a month it doesn't invalidate the forum rule posted above: promoting exploits is prohibited. As posted by @NQ-Naerais: exploiting is prohibited as well.

I'm not a GM or CM, but as it's hard to keep up with the frequency of forum rule violations, I imagine it might just be as time consuming to keep up with in-game rule violations - so I'd personally advise to not mistake it as okay or not prosecuted to use an exploit, just because there's no notice or sanction shortly after. Analog to this I too have my todo list for threads and members to address/sanction for spamming, trolling (provoking), flaming (insulting, attacking), profanity and so on. Meaning: better not let yourself be inspired by other's violations

If it's just one answer on a thread the moderation team would just hide that one answer. But if others already quoted and commented it can get very difficult to clean up. If it's too difficult or the original posting already violates the forum rules (which can't be cleaned up either) the according thread will be hidden entirely. Sorry for the resulting inconvenience - in order to avoid it I suggest to just report clear violations of the forum rules and not engage the violation on such a thread.

If there's a valuable discussion to be had in line with the rules it's always an option to open up a new thread for this. But as thread starter be mindful that if it's a sensitive topic it can easily get out of hand and might be treated as mentioned above - so it's in the interest of everyone who wants to have a friendly and open discussion, to not engage to provocation, but just report the according comment and keep it calm and polite otherwise. Thanks!

@LouHodo no, he just wasn't sure why that thread was gone and made a suggestion for improvement. Your posting reads as if you think this was wrong, but please try to see the positive side of it and keep it constructive, as I take the positive from your posting and agree that issues with moderation should be taken to moderators and not discussed directly on the forums. Two reason for this are that 1. the moderation staff can miss such topics while 2. members on their own can't answer the question "Why?" or solve issues or change how moderation is done without talking to us, the moderators.

Next time something vanishes and it's unclear why, please just send a private message to me and I'll look into it to provide an answer

    Mellow greetings

    Certainly no wipe.

Too much time already invested in setting up my two bases (real ones ya know, not just a platform and a few factories slapped onto it), and since this is an ongoing process - building stuff is what I actually enjoy most - that investment is getting heavier each day.

A wipe would be in my opinion not just a slap in the face - it would be a knock-out punch.

Be careful what you wish for - or at least what you think is necessary: a wipe itself isn't a solution - it will just upset lots of players which have put many hours into the development of their base(s).
You may find a solution with which most of us can live with, and I'm quite confident that's the path NQ will aim for...

Yesterday I wanted to fly from Jago to Teoma.
After a while just before reaching maximum speed I got one-shotted (I guess - since I only received the message that I died and was back at my base).
I didn't even realize that I was getting attacked. And, blue-eyed as I was, I didn't had a radar installed.

Today I rebuilt my ship, plus an XS space radar. On my way again to Teoma!
Just after exiting the safe zone (the radar doesn't work inside that zone), the radar shows me some text: an entity with name i.e. Luna, plus a distance - 0.5su, and that I'm out of range (for a lock-on I guess).
That distance slowly increased, so I think it was static. I looked around, couldn't see anything in my vicinity.

Now some questions I would like to have cleared up, please:

    - If I encounter somebody and it's coming closer, how do I know in what direction to fly for avoiding it?
    - How do pirates know where I am (maybe even in which direction I'm flying and my speed) so they can intercept and attack me?

A few days ago I went for the 1st time to Jago and settled there.
What do you need for parts as a minimum (so you can carry a full load - 20t - in your personal inventory) to depart from a 1G planet like Sanctuary:

    - 1 XS dynamic core
    - At least 4 atmo S engines (or go with 1 M sized engine)
    - 1 space S engine would be enough - if you want faster acceleration, take 2
    - At least 1, better 2 retro brakes (well, you could turn around 180° and use your engine to decelerate)
    - 1 S atmo and space fuel tank each
    - 1 hover seat
    - 2 S wings
    - 1 XS stabilizer (not sure if it's absolutely necessary)
    - if you go with full inventory, about 5 XS hover engines, or 1 in size S
    - a dozen or so XS adjuster (placed as far apart as possible, in up/down, left/right directions)

Make sure you take a Resurrection thingie with you (hard to craft at the beginning, needs some uncommon parts), a territory control unit* (it's heavy; needs about 90% or more of your inventory), maybe some pure copper and natron (sodium) if you got some space left since you can't get them on Jago.
Approaching: use X a few times till the navigation lines showing up. When you're getting near the planet, aim slightly above the horizon, and decelerate to about 1,000km/h.
Braking: My speed was about 30,000km/h, started to brake at 20su - and overshot. So I guess 25su should be fine with 1 retro brake.
Tip: as soon as you land, switch to the hover script - it's a lot easier to drive than with the flying version.

    See you on Jago!

*Update: A few units are now available on the local markets, selling for about 500k

Had the same issue yesterday - so I guess it isn't solved yet.
A GM teleported me to a district on Alioth, from there I made it back to my old base on Sanctuary.
In the meantime I started to build a new space ship, waiting that Jago will be fine again - hopefully soon.
